Archie’s christening… I can’t keep up on whether he’s Prince Archie or not.

I don’t see anybody I don’t recognize, with the possible exception of the two Ladies (literally) in the rear, next to Prince William… I’m pretty sure they would be Prince Harry’s aunt’s, ie Princess Diana’s sisters, Lady Sara and Lady Jane … But I don’t know which is which nor do I know whether they’re actually sisters-in-law.

Front Row, (now Queen) Camilla, Harry, Meghan with baby Archie, Princess Kate…

Back row (now King) Charles, Doria Ragland (Meghan’s mother), the two aforementioned Ladies, and Prince William.

All fingers and toes AFAIK properly accounted for.

Lotsa questions; I’ve always wondered about model like this: Is it entirely hand carved? Are some of the deck items (cannon, long boats, etc.) available at hobby shops? Is any of it done with power tools? Is any part of it from a kit?

It really is quite spectacular.

In this case it started out as a beginner’s kit of the Bounty with pre-carved solid hull. I then “kit bashed” it (based on contemporary plans and artwork) to turn it into a replica of HMS Discovery, the ship George Vancouver used to explore the Pacific Northwest. Boats and guns are hobby store materials. The rest is all hand made.

(BTW, it’s only ten inches long)

Wherever this, or another, tall ship goes sailing, just be sure it can fit entirely UNDER the Brooklyn Bridge. (May 17, 2025)

I’m guesstimating that it’s only a squinch taller than it is long.

10, maybe 11½, inches ought to fit under almost any bridge, unless the tide is REALLY high. 😁

That’s an empty pair of pants. The guy trying to avoid her husband leapt out but snagged his still unfastened pants on a loose nail. He hit the ground unhurt but became an unplanned streaker as he fled.

In case you find this too political…

Crumb did it back in 1989!

It wasn’t because of politics, it was because of Trump’s autobiography and his real estate dealings.

I wanna find someone that can sew me a Mr Natural cosplay robe.

It would be a great first sewing project, because it’s flat pieces and doesn’t have to fit accurately.

To make it perfectly, I suppose the sleeves would be set into the armholes, but for most purposes, even a comic con, making a T-shape with straight seams would do.

You don’t even need a pattern… though there are plenty out there that would work, for nightgowns, djellabas and such.

The seams are straight but the pieces should taper so the sleeves and body are a bit wider at the bottoms.

….

It would be good to have a sewing machine to use, because the long seams are tedious to sew by hand. But again, a good learning project for the machine, because there’s no tailoring or fuss.

It depends on the use… For a couple of wears as a costume, handsewn seams with big stitches, even cut edges instead of hems, would be fine. Couple of thrift shop bedsheets dyed yellow.

If you’re going to wear it every day (OMG!) you pretty much need sturdier material, machine stitching, and hemmed or stitched edges.

I wish these were available in Canada, they look tasty (an article in today’s “Daily Mail” caused me to look them up / £2.99 each).
