I learned about this image awhile back from a friend who was a graphic designer….
Just in case you can’t tell that it represents Audrey in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”, the blinds are supposed to be colored Tiffany Blue…
even though it doesn’t look that way tonight on my laptop.
…
What’s interesting about Tiffany Blue, the color of all Tiffany’s boxes and packaging for the last 100 years or so, is that the color is copyrighted.
Theoretically, they can sue you for using packaging that exact shade, or putting it in your logo or ads… though they’ll probably only prevail in court if you’re selling jewelry or luxury items.
…
He told me there are at least half a dozen copyrighted colors… including Barbie Pink, UPS brown, and John Deere green, that you can’t use commercially…
but only in the exact Pantone shades.
It was something he needed to avoid when working on some advertising projects.
I think virtually every citizen of every country on this planet forget that their national anthem has more than one verse.
I give you yours…
O say can you see, by the dawn’s early light,
What so proudly we hail’d at the twilight’s last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight
O’er the ramparts we watch’d were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket’s red glare, the bomb bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there,
O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
On the shore dimly seen through the mists of the deep
Where the foe’s haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o’er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning’s first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream,
‘Tis the star-spangled banner – O long may it wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore,
That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion
A home and a Country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash’d out their foul footstep’s pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave,
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
O thus be it ever when freemen shall stand
Between their lov’d home and the war’s desolation!
Blest with vict’ry and peace may the heav’n rescued land
Praise the power that hath made and preserv’d us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto – “In God is our trust,”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Some of the world does not believe this (and there is some evidence that some Americans have forgotten), but America is still this:
My 12 1/2-year-old computer is back! When I went to access the hard drive to download some files, the power connector popped off. It evidently had been loose for several years and the last time I moved it must have finally been the one that did it. I made sure it was securely on and hooked the computer back up. My oldie is back on the road and I’m going to save me some bucks when I return the new one.
Love to know the brand…
though hopefully I won’t need another new computer any time soon.
Also… I don’t really understand why downloading files means moving the computer, or jiggling a power connector… is it a removable, external hard drive?
I found a little neater way to link to Susan’s choice.
Right click the U.R.L. and open it in a new window, or you’ll lose this page if you close out the player without deliberately going back to “Cleo and Company.”
You must click on Susan’s highlighted selection to start the player; it will continue through the rest of the album on its own.
I’ve always suggested opening every link in a new tab or window, including opening comics forums, and looking at images when they don’t show on the page.
I don’t say it very often now, because I’ve posted it so many times before…. ever since we started doing links on GoComics, about 10 years ago… and I didn’t want it to get annoying.
So much more convenient not to leave your current page!
I guess I have to start saying it again.
….
Meanwhile, I don’t understand why the link works here, but not in my post unless I put it in a spoiler box.
The 4th is strong in this one.
gadzooks! thou hath a lisp!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, USA!!!
.
Hopefully this wasn’t taken at the beginning of a quick descent.
Hopefully taken by a drone!
maybe just taken from the rim…
,
Those eyes! 🙂
I hope the aren’t aluminum blinds! I hate it when my tenants do that! Of course for Audrey I would make an exception.

i didn’t know that.
Interesting!
Ford blue.
Dude!
Can a guy really walk a dozen dogs, AND pick up after them?

Happy Independence Day, America.
Thanks for that thought, Alexi.

#coincidence
Leaping through the door was a nice touch. 🙂
and landing with a thud, too.
beautiful!
Sure looks like the Ten Cats, with Lucy as their queen.
Shangri Las with Robert Goulet are always good for a laugh.
BatBasset and Sparrow have made it into the semi-secret inner sanctum of those fearsome felines… The Evil White Cat Gang!
Bounding through the door in a surprise leap… this time, they were unexpected! .. they’re faced with a display of sharp claws and bared teeth…
…
I have to say, though… the well-fed kitties don’t seem to be springing into instant action…
For the moment, they’re more inclined to sit and hiss, and wave an ineffectual paw or two.
Well, remember, you cats… “Teeth and claws ♪ ♫ will give me pause, but a hiss will never hurt me!”♫ ♪
…
Still… Holy Humility, BatBasset and Sparrow!
Before you get carried away by your fancy caped costumes– don’t get cocky!
If Sparrow can quote Yogi Berra, so can I:
“It ain’t over till it’s over.”
I guess we don’t get to see our little Revolutionary Fife and Drum Corps this Fourth..
I kinda miss them… sniffle.
…
But I can still say “Happy 4th of July, everybody!”
Here in the US, it’s Independence Day…
but wherever you are, unless you live where it’s 13 Tir 1401, perhaps, or maybe 5 Tammuz 5782, or some other date on a different calendar…
it’s the 4th of July.… so have a happy one!
…
Happy Fourth , Susan!
YAY!! Thanks.
Here’s their music….
the only way the link works on Cleo seems to be to post it in a spoiler box.
Otherwise WordPress changes the URL to another kind.
Mine is not to reason why….
which is a good thing cos I have no clue.
….

It opens on the march I chose for this trio…. but you can play about 30 others on the page.
Have Fife and Drum music all day!
Good fireworks music too… a background for the virtual ones posted here.
….
All real fireworks are banned in this county and the surrounding ones,
even what we used to call safe ones for children, like “snakes” and sparklers….
fires being more and more of an ever-present danger.

it would be easier if I had the means , not to mention the wherewithal to accompany my animations with life-giving SOUND
I’ve never seen a gif with sound, only video. That would be a whole new direction.

Strange.
great!!!
It DOES fit perfectly—thanks for posting; no need to ‘spoiler’ it!
For some reason, it ONLY works in a spoiler.
I tried to explain in that comment but it probably didn’t make sense.
All I know is that when I posted it visibly, WordPress changed the URL to a form that doesn’t work.
Inside the spoiler box it was fine.
How or why? I have no clue.
….
But it’s working in Alexi’s repost without that.
Again… No clue.
happy 98th birthday Eva Marie Saint
With penny rounding I spent $9.60 for two pounds of butter yesterday, in March, they would have cost $7.60.
HSSSSSSS!!!
Are you one of this gang??? Sounds like it.
OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! holy mistake, BatBasset. just repeating the main gist of today’s storyline…
Brought over from today’s “Ripley’s….”
Another punch line that will, I think, amuse you greatly.
if today is the viewing, then tomorrow is the burial
barbecue ribs
tonight’s dinner!! yum.
