My favorite bike was a used (who-knows-how-many-hand) one-speed with coaster brakes that I got for my 11th birthday, when we lived in Libya.
It was much more lightweight than these big balloon tire ones, and built smaller… short simple fenders, no chainguard, no frills.
My parents didn’t want to buy a new one because we’d only be there a few more months.
They didn’t want to ship one home, and the salt and sand there ruined metal anyway.
We were there two more years… I rode that bike everywhere.
It’s funny… but you can get in tune with a bicycle. It fit me, somehow.
…
I begged till my Dad took it with us when we left for Wisconsin.
I rode it all through high school… a little rusty, but fine.
I begged again and they reluctantly brought it when we moved to California.
3 or 4 years later, it was a little more rusty, and some of my college friends laughed at it, but I still loved it.
…
I kept it chained to the stair railing in the back yard of the small, ramshackle old apartment building where I lived, in Berkeley… a small ramshackle old bicycle.
I didn’t drive, so it took me shopping, to campus, or often 7 miles into Oakland.
Then one night somebody cut the chain and stole it!
My neighbor’s shiny 10-speed was still there.
Go figure.
So sorry about your bike. I loved my bike as a kid also. We went all over together ~ places real and places imagined. I think it kept me sane in the chaos around me…..not a great childhood.
us kids had a used bike as well. it was kept at my grandparents chicken ranch. don’t remember what kind it was, just old. i was able to ‘escape’ to my grandparents every summer. i, too, had a bad childhood, perkycat. that’s why our 4 kids grew up and blossomed into 4 wonderful adults with great kids of their own.
Yes, my 2 kids are great and have been great parents. I’m so proud of them. My daughter is a better version of me, thankfully. Four grandkids that are really good people too. I always figured I suffered so I would know how to give my kids a better life.
…Lamm said the song is about trying to write a song in the middle of the night. The song’s title is the time at which the song is set: 25 or 26 minutes before 4 AM (twenty-five or [twenty-]six [minutes] to four [o’clock]).[3][4] Because of the unique phrasing of the song’s title, “25 or 6 to 4” has been interpreted to mean everything from a quantity of illicit drugs to the name of a famous person in code.[5]
I beg leave to differ about enjoyment with you. I just spent 20 minutes seeing how bad the chase scene (not to mention the acting) in this movie could get….
bad…..really, really baaaaaad.

Ingredients
3 to 4 lbs chicken drumsticks skin on or off
1 oz envelope ranch salad dressing and seasoning mix
2 cups buttermilk
8.5 oz corn muffin mix
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp paprika
1/4 tsp cayenne
Instructions
01. Combine chicken, ranch seasoning, and buttermilk in a large ziploc bag.
02. Turn the bag over several times to ensure the chicken is coated with the ranch and buttermilk and place in the refrigerator. Refrigerate for the entire day or at least one hour.
03. Preheat the oven to 425F.
04. Spay a large baking sheet with cooking spray and set aside.
05. Combine corn muffin mix and seasonings in a shallow bowl.
06. Remove the chicken pieces one at a time and shake off the excess buttermilk.
07. Dip the chicken in the breading, turning to evenly coat. Shake off excess and place chicken, bone side down, on the prepared baking sheet.
08. Repeat for remaining chicken pieces.
09. Lightly spray the top of each piece of chicken with cooking spray.
10. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until chicken is cooked through and juices run clear. Check the chicken at about 30 minutes and if the coating is turning too brown, just place a piece of foil lightly over the top of the chicken to prevent further browning.

That piece-of-garbage-thief stole yours because he was too lazy to learn to work the gears on a 10-speed.
