The rare avocado parrot, AKA That 70’s Parrot. So-called for its resemblance to an extensive array of appliances available in that color during that decade.
Apparently, there are places where lions climb trees, even though in most places they don’t.
They’re not great climbers, because compared to naturally lithe cats like leopards, they’re heavy, strong and stiff. Leopards hunt alone, and drag their catch into trees. Lions hunt in packs, and can protect their catch together on the ground.
For them, climbing seems to be a learned behavior… and depends on what kind of threats are present, that they want to escape, and whether the local trees are low and wide, with branches parallel to the ground, because they can’t get down if the climb is too vertical.
Once they learn to do it, and teach the rest of the pride, and the cubs, it persists in that area.
According to one travel website, illustrated with a similar, but not the same, picture…
“Lions lounging in the trees is not an uncommon sight in Uganda’s Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Often called “The Pearl of Africa” this part of the country is in the Great Rift Valley where the fertile land and wetlands attract hippos, massive herds of elephant, and buffalo.
But it’s the famous tree climbing lions spotted nesting on fig tree branches that are the most unique sight during walks with expert guides.”
It used to be a really cheap meal, which I used as an excuse for occasionally eating it, even though I scolded myself about the fat and salt.
Now it’s woefully extravagant. Last time I went, which was probably 2024, everything was two or three times what it cost just a couple of years before… so I haven’t gone back.
“Mailman Wending His Way”, oil on masonite, by Victor Olson.
1950s… I couldn’t find the exact year it was painted, or whether it was used for a magazine cover or illustration, as many of Olson’s paintings were. But I did find that it sold at auction in 2019 for $32,000, a record for his work.
And I can tell you that at that time, if I or my siblings had ever been caught being that rude to the mailman, or pretty much any adult, my Dad would have come out and kicked our butts into the street.
he would have parted these kids, like Moses parting the Red Sea, when he went up on the porch and delivered the mail. this implies that the little rug-rats went back into their original positions like swirling waters making it necessary to part them again
Your mistake was in 1) knowing what you were doing, and 2) giving the project some actual informed thought and consideration before proceeding. If you would only learn to just plunge into things heedlessly, then you too could provide hours of this type of entertainment.

Right back at ya, buddy.
It might just be the light, but the tongue looks kind of added to the picture.

Cynically, I expect this was probably created by AI.

“Hi, big boy, Come here often?”
The cover of “Parisienne Life”…. Drawing by Armond Vallée.
She’s actually apologizing to the dog… “Excuse me, Toby, for having stayed so long… but today was her birthday party.”

And likely some Harvest Gold shag carpeting in the background we can’t see.
I assume it just hatched from one of those egg-shaped green things.

My Gawd! Now they’re growing on trees!!!
Into and out of as well, I believe. A very early, and poor, attempt at AI imagery.
Play hell finding someone to harvest that crop.
I dunno… The internet seems to think it’s real.

I read somewhere that the first ones were probably escaping the heat and flying bugs by getting up into a breeze.

I’d go for KFC, but it’s gotten overpriced for what you get.
No kidding.

That just ain’t RIGHT!!!
I put a stop spring on the one that I built for the kids, but I also adjusted the angle so you don’t get to the end like that.

Reminds me of George of the Jungle.
He would have grabbed the lions above by the tail…

Jambu Fruit Dove, native to Southeast Asia.
It looks kinda like fruit.
Well, Claude and Clara know where there’s a drive-in.
Next time Cleo gets a sitter.
If there’s one left in town she hasn’t disobeyed, intimidated, nipped, or threatened with a bazooka.
They need to hire the one who sits Calvin.
Great content! Keep up the good work!
