Messaging apps, right?

I’ve heard mention of Telegram and Kakao but I’m unfamiliar with them.

Or, since it’s just between two people, any sort of video call.

Skype, for instance, or webcam calling, or the video doctor visits my health plan offers (which I prefer not to use).

Do you know the name of this magazine or paper, Nighthawks?

Looks like around 1932-ish.

The ideas in it seem remarkably prescient!

Hard to believe….

Astonishing if true. So all the Canadians in the western 4 provinces are just a drop in the bucket? I find this hard to believe.

A little strange, since it leaves out Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton, all of which are fairly populous, and I’m not even sure that line runs north of Montreal.

But they’re only saying 50%, which leaves quite a few people to populate those areas, too.

I have read that the Quebec, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto corridor has over 50% of the population, and that most Canadians (90%?) live within a couple hundred miles of the US border.
I think that, too, leaves out Edmonton.

Northern Canada is quite huge, but pretty empty.

My sister and I have discussed this stuff, because she left California for BC about 50 years ago. We talk about the relative sizes of our metro areas and such.

I mean, sisters need something to argue about.

Now she sometimes refers to Americans as “you people.” LOL.

I have Murder By Death recorded. Absolutely LOVE that movie. Just about every line of the script is enough to make me LOL (and lose bladder control) no matter how often I hear it. And …. WHAT A CAST!!!!!!

I’ve ordered the DVD from amazon.co.uk (we live in Germany) as soon as it was available. Before Brexit.

I love the book, too.

Even if it didn’t have William Powell and Myrna Loy, or Skippy.

The two humans have great chemistry together, and great dialogue.

Skippy was also a great actor. He not only played Asta, but the dog in Bringing Up Baby, one of my all time favorite movies.

….

They got a lot of mileage out of that book… the plot was more of less used up for the first movie, but the characters were in four more.

Then again, Dashiell Hammett wrote at least one of the following screenplays, so it’s almost like he wrote two Thin Man books.

He wrote five books in his life, all mysteries, all great.

They included both The Thin Man and another favorite movie, the Maltese Falcon.

Yes, I found them too.

But the robot chicken is the coolest thing!

Also… do you see the one eating a.. um… I dunno. Maybe a piece of green pizza (pesto?) Or maybe a crunchy grain cracker, since he’s a chicken.

And one chicken seems to have… um… pardon me, but I think he has…

er…
farted.

I can do electrical work in a pinch, but i know what happens when you make a mistake.
I prefer to call in someone that does it all the time.

From the left, down the far side of the table and around:
William Tell, the serpent & Adam & Eve, Newton, Snow White, Steve Jobs, The wicked queen (from the Snow White story), the last three, I don’t know

Anyone know the three on the left side of the table: man in green, man in blue, and woman in blue?

The odd couples’ night out –
Aphrodite and Paris! Of course!
Wilhelm Tell’s son’s name’s Walt(h)er. The other one’s Wilhelm (not appled or present here).

Oopsie…

You’ll probably realize when you look again….
That guy at the near end of the table, between Sleeping Beauty and the witch, is most definitely NOT Steve Jobs.

He’s a pretty good caricature of Jobs’ most significant competitor, Bill Gates…
who uses a Windows laptop, never an Apple.

But the cartoon asks a question….

And accepting all the stories as history…

William Tell and his son would probably have had enough of apples.

The serpent only wanted an apple to get Adam and Eve in trouble, which it certainly did, so none of those three probably want an apple ever again, even though Eve does look a bit hopeful.

Similar story with Snow White… the apple threw her into years of a trance.. I’d think she’d be terrified of apples. The witch only wanted one to poison her with.

Bill Gates would never want an Apple.

And the goddess Aphrodite wanted the golden Apple, which the human Paris awarded her, in order to be given Helen.

I don’t know that she ever wanted a regular apple (or that she and Paris ever wanted each other, though I’ve forgotten a lot of the stories, and the romantic entanglements are up in the zillions, even between goddesses and humans.)

I don’t know who would have ordered that apple!

Well… that person has no need or desire for an Apple product.

Of course, maybe nobody in that crowd wants an actual apple to eat, or maybe any of them would… Most of them are fictional.

I was joking, not looking for a debate.

I found 10 differences in yesterday’s puzzle. It was a busy day so I just did it this morning. Unfortunately one of my differences was an artifact of another. So I am a day late and a difference short.
