I did go and find “Finding Neverland.”
Johnny Depp did do a really good job in that role as well.
The movie was a bit oddly crafted in my opinion, but it is not as odd as the real life people being depicted; whoof !
I’ll never think of “Peter Pan” in the way I used to.
A bit of research says that Freddie Highmore, who played Peter (character of Peter Pan named for him), got the role of Charlie Bucket at Johnny Depp’s request.
I watched What’s Up Doc for the first time tonight and I am wondering if the “flux capacitor” of Back to the Future is an homage to the “flux valve” of What’s Up Doc.
I also noticed that Madeline Kahn is very “Gladys Kravitz” in this movie.
I remember that when this movie came out, I wasn’t much of a Streikibble fan…. not even her howling, because it wasn’t a genre I listened to…
(My tastes have since broadened.)
..
I’d seen her chew up the scenery in Funny Girl; and play the part belonging to another dog in “Hello Dolly” … (meh)…
But some friends adored everything she did, and convinced me that this was much more low key… and funnier.
They’d already seen it, and wanted me and another friend to se it with them.
…
So we all went… and then my friends turned out to be the sort of annoying, self appointed “movie guides” who sit next to you and stage whisper..
“Oh, watch this scene!”
(What did they think I was going to do, close my eyes?)
“Look what she does with the ___”
“Oh, this next line is so funny!”
…
Anyway, I did think it was pretty funny, if a bit over the top for my taste, and that Barkbra was cute, and Bryan O’Flea acceptable, if bland…
Barkbra was trying to channel Katherine HepDog, and the whole film was trying to be another in “Bringing up Puppy”… one of my favorite pictures ever… but neither was quite nailing it.
Nonetheless I enjoyed it.
But I didn’t become an avid Streikibble fan, as they’d hoped….
…
And all these years later, I’ve forgotten the plot.
I DO remember two things…
The chase in the video above…
and this bit, which I was amazed to find separated out on YouTube, so I must not be alone.:..
And, although I’ve credited you before, I was remiss today. Thank you for coming up with Peter Bogdanovich’s canine name lo, those many years ago. It still makes me chuckle!!
you’ve done a smashing job with the names! Have you ever considered working with the studios in creating the new actors’ stage names? You’d be perfect.
[Human Version]
So Lili Von Shtupp got her start in this movie !
From Tuesday.

Very OT.
I’d say nothing can be OT around here.
A good old poster, and a great comic car chase!

Too funny!!
Yep….kinda says it all.
I named a dog after Madeline Kahn’s character in What’s Up Doc.
I always enjoy Madeline Kahn’s characters. She ‘s more the star than anyone else.
She “Eunice” stole every scene she was in that movie. She left us way too soon.
And, although I’ve credited you before, I was remiss today. Thank you for coming up with Peter Bogdanovich’s canine name lo, those many years ago. It still makes me chuckle!!
You’re welcome (and I assume the penny-pinching C&C producers pay me the same for my contributions to C&C as they do you).
Good morning Balladeers,(((((Plods))))) and Miss Susan.
Good morning, philim philes and Stel phans!
Well now I know where that expression comes from, even though its been shortened to whadup, dog. How to be in tune, Stel.
Another super poster of a super movie.
