I’ve seen stuff like this.
Also, back when i went on DeviantArt a lot there was one guy that made comics with action figures and robots and other such toys. He showed how you had to get down to “their” level to make the forced perspective work.
This is good. I like it.

Really good models, or it wouldn’t have worked.

All parts built to scale… No clunky tires, thick fenders, or oversized door handles to give away the fact that they’re tiny copies of reality.

I love that the tray and table edges become the scale model curb and sidewalk…

But I love even more that the last car carries its own bit of telephone pole, to bring everywhere it passes into believable photographic scale.

And depth of focus plays into it too. Digital camera’s make this sort of thing much easier.

Our number is hidden – to show it, #31# is the right prefix (with Telekom and land-lines at least) here in Germany.
Or to hide it if it’s shown by default.

That was used with landlines, not sure if it works for cell phones

Yes, it works.

It’s not secret, and there’s no reason it should be illegal.

There’s a list of “star codes” that work on most US landlines, often printed right in the phone book, or on a sticker you can put on your phone.

They’re only for landlines though and I think not all companies use them any more.

….

*67 blocks your numberl, *82 I think makes it visible if it’s usually blocked by the phone company.

*69 many people remember cos it calls back the last number that called you…. But it doesn’t work on spam calls cos those numbers are spoofed.

There are others I’ve forgotten … One to forward your calls but you may have to pay for that service. One to make your phone not accept blocked calls.

I think the equivalent of *67 for cell phones here is *31#….

or to unblock it #31#, the same as Tigressy says works for both in Germany, but AFAIK here it’s not for landlines.

When caller ID started, you had a choice of whether or not it displayed your number. More people said no than yes.

Eventually most phone companies made displaying it the default…

I remember when it cost me 45 cents a month to not display it.

There may still be a charge. I don’t know cos my present phone company doesn’t do it, and I don’t care any more.

It became a pain because so many answering devices won’t accept blocked numbers, and you have to hang up and dial back using *82 to display it.

too much to remember …

SusanSunshine

That’s why there are lists in the phone book and stickers for your phone with all the codes.

😁

The answering services that don’t accept blocked numbers can detect them. You don’t have to remember.

They play a message that says “please hang up and dial star 82, then try again.”

I was making hundreds of phone calls for a local store, as a job, and it drove me nuts.

I called the phone company and had them unblock my number.

where do you find this show?

SusanSunshine

It first ended in the late 1990’s.

They label it “series” instead of seasons, and I think that part is series I through IX.

It was in reruns for years on my local PBS station, which is what I watched.

It depends on your PBS station… I’ve heard that a few still run it now and again.

….

It was off the air till a revival, with the original cast, in the teens of this century.

That’s on a British network called Dave. Really, Dave is a network.

I’ve never seen any of it, and I don’t know whether any has been imported to the US, but I’ve heard it’s pretty good, even with old guys …LOL

….

If I had TV or a streaming service, I’d be checking PBS.

My internet is too slow to join Netflix or Hulu or whatever.

BTW… It takes place on a space ship and involves interplanetary travel.

But it’s comedy, not sci-fi adventures.

Hang on, Cleo Pals and puzzle people!

I’m here at last with your solution….

Well, to today’s Cleo and Company puzzle anyway.

I’d like to tell you I was held hostage by pirates on the high seas or some other glamorous tale…

But as Tigressy guessed, my internet went out.

That used to be a daily occurrence, but nowadays, while it’s very slow, it rarely disappears. Alas, tonight was one such occasion.

If you’ve done your work and you’re ready to compare….

have a click right here!

I know I’m in the minority, but having to drink root beer is my idea of punishment.

There are few foods I dislike as much, or recoil as much from even smelling.

I don’t like cold tea, or several spicy beverages including chai, kombucha, and Constant Comment (tea) … yet they’re favorites of many people.

I don’t understand myself why I like mulled cider and not those.

But root beer may be the worst.

I love a good root beer. The kind that you used to find at roadside shops. Like what A&W used to be.
There are a few still around but are disappearing.

Or black coffee.

Real beer and soda with lemon flavor would make it a “Radler”. Or a “Russ’n” if it’s wheat beer.
