He was born in Brooklyn, moved to California, but always stayed a Dodgers fan, till Mays joined the Giants.
I think we lived in Cleveland at the time. I was a little kid so I didn’t understand the flak.
After a bunch of moves, living overseas, then the Midwest, California again, military retirement, etc, I don’t remember who he followed at various times, not always New York….
but I know he switched to the San Francisco Giants when Willie Mays came out here.
His parents, his sister and BiL were all Oakland A’s fans.
I don’t follow sports but I know there was more flak.
Funny how futuristic or historical design is almost always presented in the epitome of contemporary style from when it’s drawn.
I.e, these “future” vehicles reflect an extremely fashionable view of 1950’s design…
While, for instance, the 1860’s Civil War gowns in 1939’s “Gone with the Wind” show perfect details of very stylish 1930’s dresses.
We think new movies accurately depict ancient history or future civilizations… 30 years from now, 2023 will be obvious in the costumes, vehicles, and furnishings.

Who but the Beatles could have recorded a song like this (When I’m 64) as a rock band in 1963? Showing their appreciation of an older music styles while addressing a question none of their fans wanted to consider? I imagine John hated it.
And now here we are, many of us past that magic age.
