Great work on the poster. Excellent work on the the songs!! I saw Hair many years ago and loved it. Sure wish I had had a chance to see Dog Hair ~ looks like a lot of fun! Great work.
Yes t is teaspoon and T is tablespoon. Large can is 12 or 13 oz these days. It used to be 14 oz or so and I’d use a little in some other cookies so the fudge would be nice and solid. Great Value Evaporated Milk, 12 Fl Oz – Walmart.com – Walmart.com
Butter the pan you’re going to use before you start anything else. Get everything ready because once you start, you have to stand right there the whole time. Do be sure the milk/sugar mix keeps bubbling lightly the whole cooking time.
Here’s one that I worked on last night (sung to The Age Of Aquarius)
….. When the moon sends us a-howling And Jupiter aligns with Max And bones and biscuits are thrown To us, the short-legged pack….
It is the dawning of the Age of the Basset Hounds The Age of the Basset Houndsssss…. The Basset Hounds….the Basset Houndsss…..
Sort of…. But, at least in the US, when you look for a dachshund puppy, you can easily choose a smooth, wiry or long haired one… and in standard or mini size.
All three (or 6) are recognised by the American Kennel Club, exhibited in dog shows, and purposely bred.
…
A neighbor of mine bred long haired minis… she had four, even when there were no puppies.
In her yard she had all that cutesy stuff you can buy at dog events…
Little plaster dogs, a hokey sign saying “Dachshund Crossing” … a placard on her door ..all illustrated with long haired dachshunds.
…
OTOH, long haired bassets are very rare, and accidental…
Not recognised by American Kennel Club, and disqualified from shows because the breed standard allows only a short coat.
….
Just like when long haired hippies were refused service in restaurants, and forced to get their hair cut when drafted into the military.
I was referring to the look exclusively, not the rarity of the breed (or the recognition, which might change).
The tail specifically – we used to call the hair there her “tail feathers”.
And some dachshunds must be into mountain climbing, resulting in someone like this:
Silly me….so busy looking at the picture, I missed your descriptive text where you even SAID he was a Golden cross.
Duh.
Funny that his face is almost pure retriever.
….
My brother and his family had a basset/beagle cross that looked totally like a basset, but a little bit small.
However, the basset mother of their dog was an escape artist… she next got out and had a litter with a friend’s Afghan hound.
…
Now THOSE were some weird dogs…
All three or four looked the same… like taller, somewhat long haired bassets, but with rather wiry, mixed color, coats, goofy faces, and one ear sticking straight up before it flopped over…
Strange because neither parent had upright ears.
Two of them went to people I knew, so I saw them grow up into funny looking dogs…. and both kind of crazy ones.

This is one of my favorite musicals!! I went to see it three times, and each performance was excellent. I used to know all the songs by heart!
Thanks for your nice comment. This was kind of a tough poster to do.
Loved the song titles, Stelbel!!
Thanks, mabrndt!! They were a challenge!
All these years later, and I finally learn this came from “Hair.”
Hah! Better late than never, as they say! I always liked Oliver’s version.
Is that anything like Hair of the Dog ?
Not quite, happy….although one would think so.
A brand new poster from Stel-Bel! With a great list of songs. The videos bring back a lot of memories!
Indeed! I was singing all the songs as I was working on it last night.

I still have my hair “down to where it stops by itself.” Unfortunately that is not a low as it used to be.
à la Willie Nelson??
No. I no longer get it down much past my shoulders plus 2 or 3 inches.
George Carlin’s “Hair Poem”
None of the seven words, it’s an appearance on network television (Johnny Carson?).
Thanks for posting that. I haven’t seen it in ages!
Oooh…. doo de dee….
(howl…)
yeah…
doo de dum….
….
howl with me….
Fur! (Fur! Fur! Fur! Fur! Fur! Fur!)
Grow it, show it
Long as I can grow it
My fur….
I let it fly in the breeze
And get caught in the trees
Give a home to the fleas in my fur.
A home for fleas…
A hive for the buzzin’ bees (buzzin’ beeeeeeeesssss)
A nest for birds…
There ain’t no words,
For the beauty, the splendor, the wonder
Of my…
FUR!
Excellent!!
Well done, Susan!

Nice work, Stel!
Now I can’t stop howling those great songs…
in spite of the remarks I get.
…
Can I help it if I can’t carry a howl?
…
To this day, not many bassets dare to grow their fur long….
But a few brave ones do.
Peace…
…
what happens when a golden retriever falls in love with a basset hound
Nice doggie… with that face, I’d bet he’s a Golden cross.
But “Boomer”, above, is a purebred basset hound!
Apparently it’s a rare genetic strain.
I like to think he chose to be a hippie basset!
We had a purebred long-haired dachshund (“Mimi vom Zornbusch” aka Purzel). Same difference.

I think I posted this before, but your comment (above) reminded me of this hysterical ad:
Maybe, but I don’t recall seeing it.
Of course, I don’t recall a lot of stuff….
But I’d think I’d remember THAT, cos it’s funny!

Good morning Balladeers, (((((Plods))))) and Miss Susan.
.
The rare advertisement that can make you laugh and cringe simultaneously.
I totally agree! I wonder if that was a real product?
,
That’s a grape juxtaposition.
when I posted it, I had grape expectations
Boo!
Both of you! 😀

Bravo! Sgt. Stubby was indeed a hero!
