It’s not like we’re gonna dock your pay.

After all… you set the rule, we didn’t.

We’re just happy to get all these new BatBassets… that’s a pile of work, right there… and just for us.

So thank you!

Amazingly fine feathers… like an old beaver hat, or some vintage couturier overcoat fabric… with tiny gold stitching near the beak.

And speaking of his beak… the stripes are perfectly aligned there, too.

A very well made bird.

Apparently, the first Bob’s Big Boy, in Southern California, like so many other restaurants at the time, started franchising its concept.

It was based on selling the founder, “Bob”‘s, invention, which may have been the first double-patty burger, called the “Big Boy,”

But unlike the others, Bob did NOT want others using his name

He required that they use their own names… hence… Frisch’s Big Boy, which held several franchises in the midwest.

It seems funny to have a chain of restaurants that all had different names.

Over the years, it grew, dwindled, sold to corporate owners, divided, resold, added and lost restaurants till you’d need a program to follow it.

Only a few of the original SoCal Bob’s remain.

But they used to be plentiful… I remember being taken to one on my first trip to LA, by a friend who insisted they were the best hamburgers in the world.

I really don’t remember whether they were or not… but I remember the giant Bob that stood outside.

Look out, BatBasset and Sparrow!

Too late… sigh…. trapped by the Evil White Cat!

DANG! Wasn’t anybody watching?!

Have they been talking to Cleo? Or did they come up with that Bat-zooka idea all on their own?

Even had there been no listening device in that barrel… and rear of the building or not…

that resounding “Ka-Fump“, and the subsequent loud “clunk” might have been enough to alert the white furry menace and his henchcats.

I know it woke me up!

I mean… um.. not that I was…. well, you know.

Anyway, waiting till you’re inside the hideout to be quiet seems a little incautious as well, BatBasset.

But it doesn’t matter… the EWC already had his ears on you.

Now what?

What are his evil plans for you?

BatBasset and Sparrow are accustomed to saving people.

But they can’t call themselves to get them out of this trap.

Who will save them?

I’d do it, of course… if I didn’t have to …um… do that other thing… you know….

and…um… wash my hair and stuff.

I’d be glad to. Maybe next time, OK?

They have just fallen in a black hole and all you can think about is washing your hair???
Just wait until they (somehow) get themselves rescued. You will have to answer for this!

Um… it’s not that I’d RATHER wash my hair…

It’s just that … you know… I don’t have vertical climbing skills…

And there’s this white cat, you see… And he’s… um…. I mean… I can’t…cos…

.

.

Ok, cos I’m a lily-livered coward.

Happy now? Sniffle..

….

So why don’t YOU rescue them?

I bet you have to wash your hair!

I refuse to answer that on the grounds that it might incriminate me. We are talking about an EVIL WHITE CAT, you know. Besides, nighthawks is keeping the location a secret…….otherwise, I would be right there. Of course, I would……………………okay…………….I’m a scaredy cat. Are you happy now???? 🙀 🙀 😿

Not people like us… Technically, yes, but probably no one’s going to bother coming after us.

I’m sure you know that if you make money using an image, you run into copyright issues.

So if you want something like this to illustrate your cookbook, be the background for your ad, etc, you have to pay for it, hire a photographer, or shoot it yourself….

$12 is cheap in that situation.

….

Even so, I know 9most image distributors have limits on what you can do with them, somewhere in the fine print…

Like a big company ruining a national ad probably can’t use a $12 picture, but needs another sort of contract.

….

I used to design and make flyers, business cards and stationery for some local artists… Really small potatoes, on my inkjet printer.

I used images of their work… But there were small things I included from my software, like borders, and a sun image that was part of my logo.

….

When I upgraded that software, the new version stipulated that the included images were “not for commercial use.”

I probably flew way under the radar, anyway…. But since the software company was the mighty Microsoft… it’s not really a safe bet.

Most things that were a dollar at the dollar stores are $1.25 to $2.00.

Dollar Tree just re-priced everything $1.25.
“99¢ Only” instead raised prices erratically, and a lot aren’t marked.

I used to buy a lot of produce there….

Now a 99¢ head of cabbage is $1.99… that’s more than at the supermarket or Trader Joe’s.

Things everywhere that were $1.99 are suddenly $3.49 or more… even the cashiers are shocked sometimes.

Like Best Foods mayo… goes on “sale” for its formerly high retail price.

I saw some at its new “regular price” for $6.15 a 30 oz “quart”. .. which had already lost two ounces several years ago!

And I just paid $6.25 a gallon for regular gas at Costco… Cheapest in town.
