Kissy giraffe… okay, I’m just anthropomorphizing… photo from Goran Anastasovski, prizewinning wildlife photographer from Macedonia, whose work has been featured in international media, like CNN, the London Times, and National Geographic

He says he’s never been on safari or travelled to other exotic locations, but takes all his pictures in the Skopje Zoo, about 2 km from his home.

He’s not trying to show the animals in their native habitats, but to capture their “essence”, and reach into their souls.

Okay!

I’d love to…. but your invitation doesn’t say where and when.
I’ll be on the lookout for further details.

Thanks for thinking of me.

Well, maybe this is true about tempratures, but I’m not sure I’d believe it, if it were about temperatures.

And another Octavio.Ocampo painting

“The General’s Family”.

He really is a master of this genre.

Check out the “hand” resting on the general’s chest.

I thought it was an animal sleeping on the street.

It Is!

A dog, I’d say

But in fact it’s both — the same way the general’s face is also an old man, and a woman with a baby.

Sled dogs belonging to Inuit hunters, in the Arctic town of Qaanaaq, at the very edge of the habitable world, on Greenland’s northwest coast.

Qaanaaq is one of the northernmost towns in the world, about 700 miles north of the Arctic Circle, with a population of nearly but not quite 600 residents.

But just in case you want to visit, it has an airport, with one flight in or out a day, and is described as a hub for Arctic tourism.

Wow.

I think…. it’s.. um .. very beautiful, really.

But I just remembered that I … er… I don’t think I need to go there.

That’s fine… you just go on without me, ok?

I’m sure I’ll find something to do right here in the hotel.
