I haven’t seen the cat’s wrist difference – but the line in Claude’s face looks more prominent to me than just a glitch. That would make 10 differences.
of course, I’m not the arbiter of what counts as a difference… Nighthawks has the final say..
I won’t be up much longer tonight, or around tomorrow till late
But here’s a close-up look, and my analysis.
DON’T LOOK before solving the puzzle!
I looked at the original puzzle I received from Nighthawks…. Claude’s face is identical in both panels.
However, there was a slight glitch in it, so Nighthawks reworked a small part of it, and sent a new image, on which I circled the differences. That’s the solution I posted tonight.
…
I just copied a piece of panel two and pasted it next to the corresponding part of panel one, and cropped and magnified them together, to compare:
..
As you can see, nothing is “more prominent”… but there’s a tiny break in the cheekbone line… a slight shift in placement of the image.
To me, that falls exactly into one of the categories I spoke about before… a very tiny, unavoidable copying error, arising from working with human hands on computer images.
You can call it a “difference” if you like, but to me, the differences that count are intentional, not teeny and obvious mistakes.
I truly doubt that Nighthawks intended it … though it’s up to him to say.
…
Meanwhile… you can see the clear difference in Claude’s ear, and that the cat’s hand has moved farther from the… whatever that is on the flamethrower …um… barrel(?)… in panel two…
a tiny difference yet more obvious than Claude’s cheekbone.
There is a town in North Idaho called Hope. Someone put up a sign after the city limits that said ‘You are beyond hope’. I aways get a chuckle out of that.
Thank you.
The comment containing link might be deleted if someone snitches (which they encourage).
Maybe I’ll get banned, but that happened to others for no reason at all – in that case, there will be someone else to provide the QotD on “Daddy’s home”.
I hardly comment anywhere else at the moment, “Pirate Mike” and “Amanda the Great” being the most probable exceptions. And reading will still be possible.
Nuking my account for a minor offense would be a tiny weeny bit over the top IMO…
Once again, I’m guilty of not reading what you, and I suppose others (because I’m not, I assure you, misreading you deliberately) actually said.
On my misread I thought you meant WordPress, not GoComics.
I haven’t gone back yet today, but I know for sure that there are (were?) a couple of commenters on Ripley’s Believe It Or Not that were using it as a joke contest page. Some of the jokes were really heavy duty in content. They basically ignored good taste and that kids read the strip. Not to mention that they (in line with GoComics’ new policy) had nothing to do with the strip.
I’ve added an attachment below showing the full content of the policy.
THE OLE SCALAWAG ᴘʀᴇsᴇɴᴛs SHOWDOWN AT THE C&C CORRAL SATURDAY NON SOLUTION SOLUTION 1. Left panel: Propellant in Cleo’s tank is liquified propane. Right panel: Propellant in Cleo’s tank is compressed methane Cleo “collected” after eating cheap kibble supplied by penny-pinching C&C producers. 2. Left: The name of the Evil Cat Next Door is Precious. Right: The name of the Evil Cat Next Door is the Evil Cat Next Door. 3. Left: Clara has her back to the camera because showing her face would contractually obligate cheapskate cartoonist to pay her an appearance fee. Right: Clara has her back to the camera because she has a giant zit on her nose. 4. Left: For subscribers to Kibble Music, Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling is playing in the background. Right: For non subscribers it’s Go Ahead and Forsake Me (and You’re Not My Darling Anyhow). 5. Left: Evil Cat Next Door’s tank contains oil “recycled” from ’57 Studebaker . Right: Tank contains has partially eaten sandwich from Tracy Morgan Rocket Mortgage Super Bowl LV commercial. 6-9. Highly technical. Only Perkycat, MontanaLady, StelBel, & SusanSunshine would understand.
Whoa…. I’m not actually here yet… I was just checking comments on the 17th.
Nighthawks, I hope you’ll read my reply to you about yesterday’s minimal animation.
….
Didn’t expect this page, or the puzzle, to be posted by 9:30 Eastern…. Still only 6:30 Pacific to me.
I’ll be back in an hour or so with my solution…
…
Pretty please …don’t post guesses and alternate solutions before that… Thanks.
It’s ready, but I’m on my phone, and navigation is harder this way.
See you soon!
Owl be here
Owl be back in the morning to see that, when there is only one owl. 😀
Ok, I guess it’s my tern.
I’ll bet you’re puffin’ with pride over that pun.
Suddenly i crave BBQ.
It’s too late for me to even try, i’m so tired i’m seeing double.
Double BBQ? In your dreams? You lucky dog, you!
Okay… it’s been almost two hours, but I don’t see any puzzle solvers.
Gonna go ahead and post the solution anyway.
Trying to have an earlier night tonight than I’m used to.
But hey… that’s not a good excuse for YOU to peek too soon.
….
I’d say this one’s a mixture of easy ones and a couple of very subtle ones…
But don’t take my word for it… try it and see.
Okay… I took a look….

what Susan said
If you hadn’t put the arrow on the chair, I would never have gotten that one. I didn’t do too well on this one. Thanks for the solution.
A little more obvious than the cheek bone, so I can see maybe thinking it’s a difference, but it’s not.
Claude’s ear, btw, is rotated… The whole thing, not the lobe.
I’m leaving now for the day… Maybe Nighthawks will weigh in. Or not. Sorry
Got the subtle ones, missed an easy one! &*@#$%!
There is a town in central NY State named “Endwell.” Every time I see the sign for the exit, I think exactly what Claude is saying. And he is right.
There is a town in North Idaho called Hope. Someone put up a sign after the city limits that said ‘You are beyond hope’. I aways get a chuckle out of that.
I’ve just noticed GC’s “Comment Policy” thingy. When did that start?
Technically, I’m not allowed to post the link to here…
Yesterday.
I was wondering if you would be able to keep posting that link. Or if you do, will they nuke your account?
Thank you.
The comment containing link might be deleted if someone snitches (which they encourage).

Omg.. I haven’t been on GoComics since that started…
But besides links to Cleo, which I also post…
it means NO images at all, except as your avatar…
Not even to do what I did above…
Which is post a magnified or altered bit of that days strip, using a third party host like postimage.
…
Sometimes I think they’re tired of having subscribers and commenters.
No personal info about yourself! OMG, No info about where you live, or birthdays? Ridiculous.
They are followers of that school of thought that holds “this would be a great business if it wasn’t for the customers.”
Where do I find it?
My search of WordPress led only to instructions on how to install the comment plug-in.
https://www.gocomics.com/ballardstreet/2011/06/20 – between “Featured Comment” and “Show/Hide All Comments”.

Totally, blissfully unaware of any new comment policy on GC that would forbid posting a link to this or any other site. It’s a head-scratcher.
