MAD illustrator Tom Richmond was commissioned for Vulture magazine’s February 2025 issue to create this group portrait for the 50th anniversary of Saturday Night Live.
Apparently some people made negative comments about their favorites being missed… in response to which he posted online that he was told what performers and characters to include.
In fact, I read most of the Vulture article online … it’s very long… in which cast and crew were asked to name their favorites in various categories, like host, player, sketch, catchphrase, etc… and I was surprised not to find land shark or the coneheads even mentioned. But I’ve missed many seasons by now, so other stuff has taken over
I’ve seen photos like this before.
Apparently croc tears really are salty.
Butterflies of all kinds, wherever there are cross, gators, or cayman, drink croc tears for the salt.
If sugar was going to kill me it would have done it long ago.
I have been accused of adding tea/coffee to my sugar. and have added that much sugar to my tea (and later both my tea and coffee) since I was nine years old (how can you tell I have a liking for sugar?).
From yesterday.
Thanks for that link.
I do hope that one of those “life-altering injuries” wasn’t blindness, but if you have ever been in an overly chlorinated swimming pool you know how quickly your eyes get sore and Tanesha definitely poured an amount of chlorine powder into that Coke bottle that was way above any swimming pool concentration.
From yesterday.
Thanks for the “Yellow Submarine” video. I had forgotten it existed.
When it ended their “Help” video came up and it showcases their sense of humour well.
I think I may be sensing a theme in today’s song selections.
It got over 100 here today in Mass. As one of my favorite Boston comedians used to say: “That’s not right!”
She looks way too young to be Timmy’s mother in the first photo, and Lassie looks different as well, so I looked it up .
She was only 20, there, co-starring in Son of Lassie, a 1945 sequel to Lassie Come Home.
The collie is Pal, who played the original movie Lassie. Here he plays Laddie, Lassie’s pup.
He went on to play the original TV Lassie, but was soon replaced by his son, and by Timmy’s turn, a slightly later descendent, who has the white nose and less fluffy ears that I remembered.
There he is! The lesser of two weevils!
Boo! 😄
.
Clark and Roy!
..
Did they start him from seed?
A bacteriologist would characterize this poster as TNTC — “Too numerous to count…”

…
That’s who i see.
Couldn’t put a name to the face, but thought I knew her. If 2 hadn’t been there, I would have said 4 was 2 from that angle.
Yes, the resemblance between these two brothers is strong, especially in certain facial expressions 😊
The land of giant people!
And lax building codes…
,
Someone got very lucky, and maybe a little religious.
,,
Oh yeah…. that looks safe.
I think I’ll just make a reservation…..
Like, maybe for dinner, somewhere far from anyplace where I can lose my grip and fall down a mountain.
Only just spotted it, but the safety strap preventing the runner jumping off the cable is missing on hers. Safety Third!!
On the other hand, I’ll bet the butterflies are secure from any other predators.
I’ve seen photos like this before.

Now make him snore!
The Void breaths!
Cosmic Creepers when he was a kitten?
My Dudley as a kitten.
Then what?
Okay… as much as yesterday’s daisy was not a daisy, PLUS as much as the other day’s owls were cats…. times… um… 3⅜…
That’s how much today’s creature is not a cat.
That said… I found it.
And bearing the above in mind, so can you.
Within two seconds! For some reason I saw it straight away.
I got it but i had to look a bit.

It’s a sacrifice… knowing all the dangers…. but I have to eat the cookies.
I mean… not all the cookies… but enough to tell them they didn’t live their lives in vain.

Ringo playing drums with his magical umbrella.
…
Do they play for shrubberies?

I won’t say it’s hot here, but I saw a couple of Hobbits looking to get rid of a ring….
.
So you eat fried chicken and participate in an exorcism, all for $0.50? What’s the catch?
The chicken is bland because it isn’t deviled anymore.
Today is June Lockhart’s birthday, she is 100 today.
Here she is with Lassie.
Another shot with Lassie.
Same June Lockhart, two different Lassies…..

Happy birthday June!
And apparently it’s also Carly Simon’s birthday as well, she’s 82.
Seen here in London in 1971.
