It’s hard to describe a hippo as “cute,” but in its mother’s eyes I suppose it is.

Her arms are so thin it’s scary… especially the miniature left one.

Her makeup is so perfect… I was trying to figure out whether it was truly vintage or a recreation.

It was a little hard to track it down… It’s unlabeled in several collections.

But I found it, and it’s actually from the 1920’s.

The signature is from “Atelier Manassé, Wien.”… That is, the Manassé Studio in Vienna.
It’s titled “Champagne”.

An aside:

Her smudgy dark eyeshadow is probably kohl… traditional in the Middle East, thought to protect against eye infections, sun, and the Evil Eye.

It became very popular everywhere as eyeshadow, in the 1920’s.

I wore it sometimes, myself, in the 1970’s… a black powder that came in a beautiful little gold-painted wooden vial from Egypt.

It felt very exotic.

But now, you can buy makeup called kohl, but it’s not…

That real kohl is banned in the US, due to high levels of lead, tin, and antimony.

Gave some flappers lead poisoning.

Oops.

Nice color composition.

And cute, too.

No one ever thinks to take away Batbasset’s utility belt. Amazing how consistently dumb these villains are. As for the spider, no sweat. Batbasset still has his utility belt.

But what if there is no “reverse” switch? Hmmm. Then they would have to shrink Ratbreth to ensure that he invents one.

@ The universe in general

Don’t spider’s have eight legs?
As evidence of my skepticism I offer….

In panel 3 the spider has 8 legs, but only 6 are visible in panel 4.

That is one strange pastiche of stills and clips for Little Richard. They have only the faintest connection to the song itself.

Here he is in 2002 (age 69) with a “smoother” version on Jerry Lewis’ Muscular Dystrophy Telethon.
He definitely knew how to entertain ! !
nighthawks, I’m putting this here because I agree with Liverlips.
It is indeed a “strange pastiche”; I will take this down if you object.

It should come with a warning!

I’ve seen it before but I forgot and started watching it….

Now I’ll have another 20 years of trying to forget it all over again.

Montana Lady, don’t watch!

First panel has a misspelling. “Miniture” should be “miniature.”

Ummm….now miniature is spelled minature.
If this keeps up Theseus and Ariadne will have to make an entrance.

I love the story line. Will our heroes be victorious? I’m staying tuned and trust that everyone else is, too.

My inner editor (actually my real job) just came out.

Truthfully, it was a hoot to see your final solution this morning. I had to come back to see if you’d changed things again. Love that you’re so responsive to your readers.

BatBasset and Sparrow have escaped the minicage!

But if they don’t want to become known as MiniBatBasset and MiniSparrow, they must find a way to get back to normal size.

BatBasset has a good idea… perhaps he can enlarge upon it.

If there is indeed a reverse switch on the Shrinkerator™️…. do you suppose it’s limited to reversing its own work?

Or could they use it to become twice their normal size, to be a bigger threat to Dr. Ratbreth and the EWC?

And anyway, is their normal size Basset hound size or, say, human size?

So many variables, so many questions, when you’re using unknown and untried equipment.

Do they have to be careful to aim the rays evenly, so they don’t end up with one big foot, or could one of them choose to have a huge hand, or… OK, let’s stop right there.

Could it be renamed the Giantizer™, or the Growerizer™️, and used to triple-size our world-wide grain stores, and end starvation?

No giant cattle, please… they’d eat us out of Earth and home before we could eat them.

Meanwhile… yeah. If the BatLaser™️ can cut through a steel bar, surely it can do serious damage to a spider?

Hopefully, we’ll find out Wednesday, right here on this BatChannel™️.

YES! No more will we be compelled to go out searching for “Big Foot”! We’ll be able to create our own!

So many ideas that I hadn’t even considered!

Brought over from today’s “The Comic Strip….”.
Some are “meh” but overall, not bad.

If you look at it just right, the big black patch becomes its body and the collar becomes a tail.

Great musical choices (though I prefer Orange Blossom Special as an instrumental).
