As for the Trashmen, this is another case where I have heard the song a zillion times but never seen the video. Excellent! But what do they have to do with surfing?
The story goes that the Trashmen heard another band covering a song by a group called the Rivingtons, and started singing it, without having all the lyrics.
They recorded it, including made up nonsense and goofing around, and it became popular.
The Rivingtons found out and sued for songwriting credit, which they got, but the Trashmen’s crazy version became more popular than their own.
The Rivingtons were an R&B group, but the Trashmen were a surf band.
in honor of the anniversary of the june 6th invasion, we watched ”the longest day” last night! it wasn’t on the vcr, though. ( i thought we were backwards using the dvd)
I hate to mention it to the Cliffords, cos you know, I say it so often they’re going to think I’m nagging them or something…
But honestly, most people, seeing their dog with a flamethrower, about to fight a cat, also armed with one, in their living room, would not just stand there watching, and waiting for a bad result.
….
You see, they would… I’m not sure these are words Claude and Clara understand… they would take control of the animals.
Take control. Not just watch.
No, not say “Confound it, put those flame throwers away!”
Hi Susan, totally unrelated to the previous subject, I thought of you today. We had smoky skies the last two days. It seems Canadian wildfires along with some really weird wind patterns are to blame. It was way off the scale of the EPA rating system for a bit today.
Actually, it may not be so unrelated have the Cliffords been in Ontario or Quebec lately?
I thought her picture was on the wall… or that might be a portrait of her mother or father… because she was the most esteemed member of the Clifford household.
.
Um, wait a minute! Wha?
I was scrolling up the page and I saw the bottom 2/3 or so of the picture, so just the duck’s yellow bill but not the rest of its head….
And for a moment I thought I was looking at a shiny yellow mask of a cartoon dog.
The nostrils are eye-holes, the two points on top are ears, the black dot obviously a nose.
I soon realized my mistake, but now my eyes shift between seeing the dog face and the duck face anyway.
i’m confused!
“That will be quite enough of the ‘quack’ puns, thank you very much.”
..
I’m not going to say it. 😀
I love the brown eye.
ML, wake up!
Yeah… It’s so tempting.
But no… We have to save it for her.
i’m here!
NOSE!!!
gee, thanks everybody!!
Peek-a-boo! Er, um, sniff-a-boo!
…
That is so wrong! XD
..,
Cool!
Eek! Is he OK?
where are we?
Looks as if he’s being attacked by some sort of intergalactic dragonfly.

,
it’s too early to follow that maze!
Toon comment.
“I’m your father, Cleo!!!”
Claude and Clara: “Well – that explains a lot!!!”
Glad to claim the Wilson sisters as local talent.

I found it!
chocolate ice cream
Yes please. Extra Dark. But I doubt the new owners of our favorite parlor have the recipe.
Ooh me too.
i knew we were sisters! the more chocolate the better!

Holy anachronism!
Who’d give a flamethrower to a CAT!?! Now THAT’s irresponsible!
That’s catsist!!!
Absolutely!

They would control their dog…
Claude? Clara? Do you understand?
Ok… I give up.
Do you have any valid advice fighting anything from your pets?
Yes… In most cases, you weigh a lot more, can work the gas pedal in the car, and control the money.
That may not help with some of the behavioral problems…
but in most cases, it does seem to prevent the acquisition of guns and flamethrowers.
😁
That wouldn’t help if they already are in possession of anything…
Well of course.
That’s why I said in “most cases” it prevents the “acquisition“….
Nothing (unless you know how to perform actual magic) can prevent something that already happened!
But if you start early enough, which, sadly, neither the Cliffords nor the owners of the EWC did, they would (hopefully) never be in such possession.
….
And even if my dog already owned a flamethrower (unlikely) …
Unless she weighed more than me (also unlikely) I think I could take it away before it got to this point.
And even if it did, maybe because I didn’t know she had it … and I were in Clara’s position right now….
Unlike the super-indulgent Cliffords, I’d be calling the police, the fire department and animal control!
….
Does that cover enough bases?

I don’t want to jinx anything, but so far so good here.
We had some smoke the other day, that turned out to be a controlled burn on a pasture, and an unexpected breeze that carried it around town.
Wildfire season here usually isn’t this early, not that fires are kind enough to read the calendar.
…
We had a hugely wet winter, which is supposed to either give us some (but by no means total) relief from fires this summer….
OR, depending on what you read, provided a lot of fresh spring undergrowth that might dry out and become tinder for the quick spread of August fires.
….
I’m ±1000 miles from the Canadian border, and mostly west of their fires, so haven’t had their smoke, unlike the Northeast.
But thanks!
there you go
i like how cleo’s picture is over her chair. does that claim her ownership?
You might be on to something.
I thought her picture was on the wall… or that might be a portrait of her mother or father… because she was the most esteemed member of the Clifford household.
okay … now i’m getting worried. has anyone heard from alexi??? this is so unusual!
I emailed him yesterday….no response yet
thank you!
So did I, just before I got here and saw your comment.
He doesn’t check his email as often as some people, as far as I can tell.
@Saucy1121 Have fun with Cookie/zara (what a mix! She’ll need a lot of long walkies. I know that you know)!
And may your eye appointment go well.
Welcome home, Cookie.
Is that outdoors?
In my attached garage.
