I started skipping ahead in the clip at about the one minute mark; it was that bad. I then read the synopsis in Wikipedia; this is not a film I’ll be watching unless I’m “Clockworked Oranged” for some reason. For what it’s worth, here is a link to THE 5TH WAVE. I won’t be spending any more time watching it. As always, click through the clutter and go full screen.
A side note (put in for no particular reason other than I felt like it). In the last week my McDonald’s coffee has gone up 7.4 % on cost..
Another side note (edited in at 22:35 hrs. E.S.T.)
The human beer commercials actually intrigued me enough to try the beer. I’m glad I did, it’s good stuff.
The best I can come up with for Bob Dylan, is this is his first television appearance. If so, it was recorded in March of 1963 and aired in April of 1963 as part of a Westinghouse television special for WCBS-New York.
I’m with you.
Plus the fact that the lyrics of many other songs are questionable (to put it mildly).
When I was in high-school, Frank Zappa was in the charts here in Germany, too.
I always was pretty good in understanding English and knew what “Bobby Brown” and “Jewish Princess” were all about, but others…
The alternative is to scroll on by, then. There are a lot of things that I don’t look at for many different reasons. It’s OK to skip some things if they’re not to your liking.
I was in at the same time. I luckily got sent to a mountaintop in Turkey after Tech School. The unfortunate lads in the classes ahead of and behind me were sent to Johnson Island for ninety days before going the rest of the way to Nam.
sorry, I don’t agree. if the video is difficult to look at, then I suppose the best thing is
to just don’t continue to watch it …
war is ugly and brutal and hard to look at…..but you cannot ignore it or pretend it never happened—lest , as the saying goes, so it isn’t repeated.
In the U.S. Civil war and in WW1 and even WW2 , people were not aware of just
how bad war is in reality. All they saw was the patriotic flag waving and the bands
playing and the troops marching off but
they never KNEW what it was like. I think war and it’s ugliness should not be hidden
from view.
The only recipe I found in my books required the use of biscuit dough….no; no matter what they say, they’d be lead in your stomach.
The molasses sauce they recommended for them however sounds tasty.

“”Molasses Sauce””
Combine 1/2 cup molasses, 3/4 cup undiluted evaporated milk and 2 tablespoons butter. Heat until butter melts.
Notes from me:
Use the lightest molasses type you can find (but not diet / if there is such a thing).
Stir the molasses and evaporated milk together, and pre-melt the butter over very low heat and stir in; then, using a slightly higher heat, warm the sauce.

How long did you have to work on the flag in the Saab cartoon to get the detail in that you did?
It’s in proportion waving in the breeze; that is amazing.
as you can clearly see , in actuality that is a Ukrainian flag. The Ukrainians have been busy buying off bits and pieces of Cleveland properties –which have been selling dirt cheap, because ultimately,
who wants to live in Cleveland?
and thanks, I did labor many hours getting the wave of that flag juuust right

The “Most Interesting Bassett” animation is First Class!
A double feature!
Hope I brought enough candy.
…
Love the animated steam.
Unless, of course, it’s my car.
That would be a sob story indeed.
….
And I’ve always loved the “Most Interesting Basset” commercial… and admired the mini “filmstrip” at the end. Nice work!
Johnnyhound Goldbasset was an actor for 7 years (49 in basset years), worked with an entire kennel’s worth of the biggest canine stars….
but found his greatest fame in a kibble commercial.
…
Luckily, we’ve never had a mess of a car like that.
Love the Most Interesting Basset! It’s so cool to see all his adventures. Sigh.
While I’m covering multiple contents of today’s posts….
I’ve never mentioned it, cos I thought it would only be once or twice, but since it seems to be ongoing….
I have to say that I just can’t watch those Vietnam War-backed music videos.
I know some of you like them…. but for me, well…
When I hear the music of my younger days… some of it associated with treasured memories…
I want to remember the good times…
Sorry, with special apologies to any of you who were there….
but I don’t want it forever entangled in my brain with images I’d rather forget, and reminding me of events that I fervently wish had never happened.
I’m with you.
Plus the fact that the lyrics of many other songs are questionable (to put it mildly).

Agreed! At any moment MMM could’ve been ordered to go over there. The only thing that saved him was working as a RocketMan.

anyway, it’s impossible to please everybody
The irony of this one gave me chills and tears. Mission accomplished, I’d say!
I never said don’t post them… I also never said , I’ve never watched anything about war.
I know what it looked like… it’s burned into my brain.
I don’t know why you would think I could possibly forget, or pretend it didn’t happen.
But I don’t want to watch it any more when I don’t have to.
…
I lost friends… including one of my best friends.
Bright, funny, a math whiz… He was headed towards a career in scientific research.
My father was sent there, too, as a career officer in his 50’s.
…
I said I didn’t want the music I love, the music of the good times, bonded in my brain to the images of that brutal war.
So I choose not to watch the combination of the two.
When I listen to the Jefferson Airplane, I want to remember the Avalon Ballroom….
I don’t want to picture the snipers and bombs that took my friends 50 years ago.
….
It’s not that I don’t know about those bad things…
It’s that they’re separate in my mind.
I don’t want them to happen ever again, even though I know they have and they do…
I’ve worked for peace, voted for peace, even though I know that wars will continue.
But they can’t have my music.
I have to agree with Nighthawks on this one.
