Tomorrow is my husband’s birthday. He voted for homemade pizza.
One frutti di mare, one with tuna (all eco-friendly caught) sounds good…
Or more, if a friend happens to drop by.
I lost my internet a few hours ago… and should have gone to bed, but I fell asleep waiting. Sigh…
Anyway… we have StelBel’s poster today for RocketDog!
I hadn’t heard of Tarhound Basseton before this film… but he sure makes a wonderful Elhound John.
I read that he even did his own howling, and some of the piano playing!
And in spite of their short basset legs, both he and the real Elhound John play full size pianos!
…
I hear that Elhound John also had a paw in this film..
he didn’t write the screenplay but he DID tell the author to be truly honest…
so the scenes of him being a bad dog, or gobbling excess Milkbones… even trying (gasp) catnip… are true to life.
… Poor Tarhound, though… imagine taking on the role of a living legend…
knowing that the eyes and nose of the real star will be sizing you up.
…
It says “coming August 8th” on the poster…. but I believe that was from its first run, cos it’s actually coming to the BassetPlexII next week.
I’ll try to make another deal for passes with the manager, even though he gave us some just last week.
Unless my dear friend StelBel can get us comps herself?
Stel?
…
I’m so glad it’s a virtual theater, so we can all go together!
I’m not sure whether we still need to wear virtual masks…. I forgot to ask those of you who went to see “Pup Fiction.”
The theaters, even virtual ones, don’t allow full capacity yet…. so we may be seated six feet apart instead…which makes it harder to share the kibblecorn….
and the BassetPlex Theaters have such good kibblecorn.
…
All these videos…. and none are the real Elhound John…or even Tarhound Basseton.
I’d love to hear Elhound singing “Chew Toy in the Wind” … even though its not in this film anyway.
“It seems to me you lived your life♪ … like a chew toy ♫ in the wind..
Never knowing ♪ who’d be chasing you.., when the mood set in.” ♫
Wow! Weird to see “good morning” and here I am, finally getting here at 8:30 PM!
I never heard of Tarhound Basseton, either before or since, but I hear he did do a good job in the role. I agree, it had to be nerve-wracking with the real McCoy (or Elhound John) overseeing Basseton’s portrayal of him.
Thanks for the review!
(PS: I’ll see what I can do about the passes.)
No corned beef leftovers for hash, so I guess since it’s National Sloppy Joe Day….
Other “DAYS”:
NATIONAL FARM RESCUER DAY NATIONAL AWKWARD MOMENTS DAY NATIONAL BIODIESEL DAY NATIONAL SUPREME SACRIFICE DAY
I was never a really big EJ phan (mainly because we didn’t have a piano player in the band). More of a Rolling Stones, Moody Blues, Beatles, British Invasion cover band then I slid into folk.
But I would’ve gone to an Elhound John concert just for the outlandish outfits and howls. And what better example than this awesome Stel-lar poster for the movie.
Y’all toast the buns so they’re not so sloppy, but no sacrifice required if you drip.
I appreciate his music more now than back in the 70’s. Like you, I would have gone to one of his concerts, though……just to see the spectacular production!
Kudos to Cmdr. Chris Hadfield for singing this aboard the ISS, as a tribute to David Bowie. One YouTube commenter remarked how we are ALL in this video, as Earth is observed through the portholes.
The thought of drifting in space is terrifying to me, which is why I could never bring myself to watch Gravity. I wonder if Nighthawks’ image is from that movie.
I did not think everybody was being properly listed in the “Like” box so I went looking for what might be the cause.
I figure it’s got to be related to our avatars’ name codings (MontanaLady, Alexikakos, Perkycat,…etc. and not the picture — well maybe the picture too but I have no evidence).
Your avatar’s name coding is….

< a href=”https://cleoandcompany.net/author/bryanemartinez/” rel =”noreferrer ugc” target=”_blank” >nighthawks< /a >
Note the lack of “nofollow” in nighthawks’.
How to fix it will have to be left to nighthawks, because I suspect it directly impacts site security too.
I have to reload, too – but I didn’t consider that as important enough to mention it.
Of course I haven’t an answer to everything – but that doesn’t keep me from trying to help!
For what it’s worth mine shows logged in as bambushie and no longer asks me to log in, which it was showing before I discovered I was not actually longed in, jay
I just can’t understand why you didn’t opt to stay in Belchertown, instead of winding up in the Virgin Islands. Spring break in Belchertown is THE place to go!
I had 2 comments disappear tonight. I have no idea why that happens. It’s annoying to have to type them out again. That was the first time that happened, and I hope it’s the last!!
The ol’ K-tel days…..haven’t heard about that outfit in years!!
Original “Rocketman” poster
Love the octopus video. They’re tasty. {^¿^}

Like for the video, not so much for the taste.
same here!
I love the octopus video, as well! But not because they’re tasty…….because their gracefulness in the water is fascinating to watch.
(not a big fan of eating them, though. Food-wise, they’re either a love ’em or hate em kind of food…..)
As “Cleo and Company” has recently performed a mid course correction…
…here’s another that probably wasn’t quite as successful.
cute.
I’m not up on who’s who in Muppet World, but he looks like a cool dude, and amazingly, he sounds just like Elton John! (LOL)
Cute video….love the crocs and Elton’s costume–especially the glitzy bathing cap!!
Good morning, Cleo family… it’s movie time!
Well… first it’s bedtime, for me..and soon.

It’s even more fun to share the kibblecorn if you have to throw it 6 feet every time.
Hah! You have a point!

And, kudos to you, JP Steve, for posting it!
The thought of drifting in space is terrifying to me, which is why I could never bring myself to watch Gravity. I wonder if Nighthawks’ image is from that movie.
Good morning, Stel-ar poster fans. Another movie we never saw, even though I have enjoyed Elhound John’s songs over the years.
Great poster, Stel. However did you coax Tarhound Basseton up onto his piano bench, with his short legs and all?
Thanks, ML !!
Removable steps and Milkbones! Also, custom-made piano pedals so he can reach them.
Very good depiction!
Thank you so much, PC!!
For all you computer experts, how do I get to have my name and avatar show up on the “like” list? All I get is “guest”.
Beats me – but I gave you a “like”…
I figured you’d have an answer! Thanks for the ‘like’.
You have taken my guess from guess to fact.

Great try, Alexi! At least it looks like I didn’t do anything wrong. This time.
Thanks.
Make sure your avatar is showing in the upper right hand corner of the page,
and that a bit farther down, it says “You’re logged in as Montana Lady” right above the comments.
If it DOES… then I don’t know the answer.
But if not, and it says “Log in”…. Click there and log in with your password.
….
Or if it lists your name and email address next to the comment box…
it might even display your avatar…
Even if they’re correct, that means you need to look for where to log in.
Once you’re fully signed in, fields for typing in your name and email are no longer displayed there, filled-in or not.
…
Sometimes the site seems to be recognising me…
It says “SusanSunshine” next to the comment field and displays my avatar.
But if you’re not fully logged in, you’ll be commenting as a “guest” … Maybe even with a generic WordPress avatar.
Just something to check.
Her avatar was fine all along.
As I said… It displays my avatar even if it says I’m NOT logged in.
I might even be thinking I AM logged in…
the site is supposed to remember me… I see my name and avatar properly displayed next to my comment.
…..
It’s like I’m PARTLY logged in… but at those times, my avatar WON’T be in the upper right corner.
Where I DO see it, next to the comment box, there will also be correctly filled-in fields for name and email address…
but I could still change them by typing something different.
…
If that’s what I see, I know I’ll also find a link above them saying “Please log in.”
I do, and then my avatar shows in the corner…
I can see my “reputation”, and can no longer change my email address without going to my profile… so I know I’m fully logged in.
…
I think it’s some kind of glitch. This site seems weirdly buggy.
Different people see different things on it… what YOU get isn’t necessarily what I get.
As we saw with avatar uploads… NOBODY except the person involved can be sure what’s on his or her own screen.
….
For some of us, pages take two reloads to fully refresh… to others, that makes no sense.
Actually, it happens to me AND makes no sense… but it MAY have to do with sometimes finding myself sort of half-way logged in.
If apparently doesn’t happen to you, so you can’t answer the question for those to whom it does… nor can I.
They have to check for themselves.
…
I have to reload, too – but I didn’t consider that as important enough to mention it.
Of course I haven’t an answer to everything – but that doesn’t keep me from trying to help!
I am in the same boat.
See my answer, right above, to Montana Lady.
Except, you know… you probably shouldn’t be logged in as “Montana Lady”.
For what it’s worth mine shows logged in as bambushie and no longer asks me to log in, which it was showing before I discovered I was not actually longed in, jay
Right… I’m pretty sure that’s what it’s SUPPOSED to do…
But for some of us, it only sometimes reverts to being partly or even not at all logged in.
For me, it’s inconsistent… today I’ve been already logged in whenever I’ve come back… other times I might find myself having to do it again.
Sometimes on GoComics I have to log in again, also, when I should be logged in… But I think it does that to everybody…
And it never seems to half way remember me, and half way not, like WordPress does.
Yes. See Susan’s answer above. If that doesn’t help you, let me know.
OK, Dennis?
Dang. I tried to cash in my free one-way bus ticket to Cleveland, took a wrong turn at Belchertown, and wound up in Virgin Islands.
Don’t you hate it when that happens?
I guess not…
I just can’t understand why you didn’t opt to stay in Belchertown, instead of winding up in the Virgin Islands. Spring break in Belchertown is THE place to go!
I can attest to that.
I swear I made a post earlier about taking me back to those old K-tel days. Rocket man was on the album I had way back then.
I had 2 comments disappear tonight. I have no idea why that happens. It’s annoying to have to type them out again. That was the first time that happened, and I hope it’s the last!!
