This LINK leads to a description of the Philip Hawkins painting nighthawks posted above.
Here is the picture of the engine ( a Stanier 8F 2-8-0 No.48197) which is depicted in the painting that I’m reasonably sure inspired the painting; I use the angle of the train and the engineer leaning from the cab as evidence.
It figures Cleo would be a fan of Taco Bell. She is about as discriminating in her tastes as a teenager. When I was one of those, my friends and I would go to the local Jack-in-the-Box because it was open late. Those tacos were the most godawful concoctions and we downed them like tic tacs. It’s wonderful to be immortal.
That video of the Blue Angels blew me away! From the ground, you watch these pilots flying very close at incredible speeds, and you just hope nobody sneezes. But from the point of view of one of the planes, with sound muted, they are all just strolling along together, at a relaxing pace. Incredible!
It’s interesting that the inside camera was on a weighted gimbal. That way the viewer could more easily tell when the jet was upside down.

The Blue Angels are what I think the words “awe-inspiring” are intended to mean. I had the opportunity in Y2K to watch them practice their routine at the San Diego Naval Air Base, from directly beneath their approach path. A decent sized group of us had gathered on a hilltop. They flew so low over our heads that we could see faces inside the helmets inside the cockpits.
Some of them are set to be powerful emitters, especially if inadvertently provided with the wrong fuel.
….
A 9 pound Silky terrier I knew, with the innocently disarming name of Boo Boo, could clear a large mobile home in minutes after ingesting a few bites of beans, or gobbling half a dropped hardboiled egg.
His owner’s grandchildren had to be under constant surveillance to avoid a toxic situation.
I think they do. They’re gorgeous, like Easter Eggs!

My last day of work was the day before the Willow Run Air Show. Just at the start of the retirement party, the Blue Angels flew over in Missing Man formation. Best thing about the party!
This is probably the only Ozzy Osborne song I ever liked! When I heard it on your TikTok link, I just had to hear the original again…..been a long time.
I have always like that song of his. Never been an Ozzie Osborne fan, though. I like to use the phrase “Going off the rails on a Crazy Train” when things get a little hectic or weird.
.
Aww! Cuddles.
Clearly this puppy is well known to this goose.
Oh, yeah!! Or we know what would be happening,
Too, too cute!!!!
,
i love the old steam engines!

That looks like a Stanier 8F 2-8-0 Late British Railways crest era.
Edit:
Didn’t see the relay by Alexikakos until after I’d hit ‘Post’ on my comment.
you know your locomotives!
Very impressive painting!
Well, it’s ok… But the steam isn’t swirling like on the Midnight Express.
,.
Interesting picture.

I had the Commodores song from above (Easy) playing while I read your comment.
Boy, did the two ever fit together!
Brought back good memories…
that is a favorite part of reading everybody’s comments.
Did a little of that, too. Those tacos were ‘godawful concoctions’, but every now and then, I crave one.
OK, I’m a convert. He’s adorable!!
what a CUTE spider! normally i don’t like real life spiders.
Are you sure it’s not Boris?
♫ Who ♪
Cute ~ but doesn’t make me like spiders. Sure glad they told us Lucas was an animation.
2 of our 4 kids worked at Taco Bell in high school. they would come home reeking of onions every night.

they really are fantastic! this video made me air sick, but i couldn’t stop watching it!
”blew me away” is a great description, Dennis.
I was thinking that too.
But I know the calm is kind of deceptive…
The ground below is still racing away…
the other planes seem to be in lazy harmony because you’re ALL going so fast…. your relative speed is a stroll.
…
But a little hiccup, a tiny twitch at the controls, and you cover a lot of air space in a fraction of a second….
So what looks effortless is nonetheless incredibly tight and precise.
I loved it but…
…I NEVER want to fly that close to another plane.

WOW!
It’s a balance, keeping the basset full when you’re driving.
If you let it get too empty, it keeps signaling, which is very distracting, and it might even attempt to stop the car dangerously.
But stopping to refuel it also wastes valuable time.
…
The gauge is inaccurate, sometimes causing you to overfill it.
But if you do, it can emit foul smelling fumes, possibly strong enough to make you roll down the windows in freezing weather…. Or even toxic gases!
OMG!!! Your comment had me ROTFLOL!!!!!
(and, that’s why I stick with the smaller Terriers, btw….. much more fuel-efficient!)
Well, you’re lucky yours is properly calibrated.
Some of them are set to be powerful emitters, especially if inadvertently provided with the wrong fuel.

French bread
I have a simple but delicious recipe for our bread-maker for that.
chocolate dipped strawberries
Holy fruit basket, Batman! – You forgot to show us the usual bird yesterday…
very nutritious.
Just thick dark chocolate on them, please… much better tasting.
They don’t need white goo and sprinkles to be beautiful.
I think they do. They’re gorgeous, like Easter Eggs!

congrats on your retirement.
Well, it was forced by the 2008 recession. They eliminated my job.
Still working at something else that I love doing (and getting paid for).
You just had to……didn’t you.
Sorry. Taco Bell doesn’t have bones… snerks
Good Monday morning, Cleo and Claude phans!
It’s National Curtsey Day!
Y’all grab some French bread. (((((HuGZ!)))))
She may be saving time, but I don’t think we want to hear what she’s going to say.
I know the feeling of that Alice – “May I go first? Pretty please?!?”
Definitely ceramic.
Or….DEFINITELY NOT!
Check this out:

The frog on the Kid’s Pottery Wheel was photoshopped!! The very same frog is shown on the Bing search page.
I posted yesterday that you guys were probably right… The slight translucence of his toes might show that he’s real.
The whole thing could be resolved by a single video that shows one moving…
But so far, I haven’t found one.
….
Other frogs aplenty… yet nothing with his painted-looking, opaque eyes, or speckled “glaze”…
not even the decorative blue stripes near his feet.
If you do a search, you’ll find plenty with blue and/or green coloring on the legs and that white/off-white “crazed” effect around the eyes.
another example:
(BTW, I think the off-white around the eyes are the eyeLIDS…..not part of the eyeball.)
Yes, I did, and I saw a fair number of them in still pictures…
That’s one thing that helped convince me that they’re most likely alive…. even though they look almost exactly like ceramics.
So now I’m pretty certain…
Translucent toes aside.. there just aren’t that many ceramic frogs in that many positions. LOL
…
I’m just saying, though, that so far I haven’t found the absolute proof….
which would have nipped this whole discussion in the bud yesterday…. and rendered it moot.
And that would be to see one of them, exactly like that, moving, in a video.
I don’t think a video exists….more’s the pity. So, we’ll just have to accept BING’s word on this one.
Case closed??

..
I guess I’m still not ready…
Wasn’t then, still not.
Good to test it every now and then, though.
….
Maybe you could post it again, so I could try listening again, ok?
Like in, say, 2042?
Aw, Susan. It is a relatively mild Ozzie composition. And it accurately describes his condition.
How true that is!! He IS on the “crazy train”!
I have always like that song of his. Never been an Ozzie Osborne fan, though. I like to use the phrase “Going off the rails on a Crazy Train” when things get a little hectic or weird.
How cool are YOU?!?! Love it!
(and, like I said before: I’m not a big fan of him, either, but there’s just something about this song that grabs me!)
Nice try Cleo, but no one is falling for that………..oh, yeah, it’s Claude driving. Maybe he will get you something at the gas station store.
Sounds ominous…
Job recommendation for Cleo?
Love it!
Now you just KNOW, I love the Blue Angels video! Thanks for sharing
