the biggest rest area we ever experienced was on Route 66 in Texas. it had a full playground, a huge facility, and a tornado shelter. they probably got to use it yesterday.
I finally got this to work for me. It should work for you.
If you follow this LINK you’ll come to the animated version of your avatar tagged 39 StelBel small (the same version as above / and the one I used yesterday, too).
1. Drag the gif image itself into your computer’s picture library (the U.R.L. doesn’t do anything at this point / it will also appear as if the gif is now static, it isn’t).
2. Go to your profile page and change your avatar to the version you just took in.
3. You should have an animated avatar again. As I said, I have set it as an avatar for me here in Cleo and Company and it was animated. If for some reason it doesn’t work for you, you can just change it back.
The best answer I can give you is “WordPress.”
Since all the WordPress forums said that posting gifs as avatars was possible, I finally figured out that it might be a file size problem.
It apparently was.
I used an online gif resizing site and cut StelBel’s animation to 64 width by 45 height.
See StelBel’s avatar (as an animation) as my current comment avatar. (I have to leave by 11:10 hrs. E.D.T. so it will be changed back to me at 11:00 E.D.T.).
Side note (edited in at 09:16 hrs. E.D.T.):
My “Will this post?” comment as Albert Onymous yesterday (thanks for the confirmation) came about through my machinations with Dennis’ problems.
I successfully duplicated the problem I think, now, like Dennis, I’m stuck.
I can’t get rid of it because WordPress won’t acknowledge an account for the email address I used even though it’s the same one I used for Cleo and Company in the first place.
Maybe — can help.
Thanks for the crepe information yesterday. 🙂 🙂
I’ve copied your comment and placed it in my recipe folder.
I’ll try those tips out this weekend (fingers crossed).
When we first started on WordPress last Spring, it took me 3 weeks to finally become a “member”. Now, that process is so much easier for folks after Nighthawks was able to modify the process.
But, I was able to use my animated avatar for a week or two before it stopped working altogether, and I couldn’t get it to work again, come hell or high water.
Thanks for working on it. What a simple fix it turned out to be! I never thought to just reduce the file size (even though I tried just about everything else! lol). I’m glad you thought of it!
From yesterday.
If you go back to yesterday, you will see a post from me under the name Albert Onymous.
I used the first log in box we all see to make that post.
I also used the email address that I use for my “Alexikakos” avatar; as you can see my avatar posted.
That is as far as I can go with it.
When I tried to say I forgot my password, the programming wouldn’t recognize an account for my email address even though there is one.
I’m going to guess that may be your problem as well.
I put together another of my “instruction manuals” in the spoiler box below (as I’ve said elsewhere, I really like postimage). It starts from the beginning, and goes from there.
Once again, I hope it helps.
If worse comes to worst, make a minor change in your avatar name, use a different email address, and open a new account (you’ll be able to use your avatar picture because it will associated with your new email as well as your old email.
Log in and registration. There’s 11 boxes in here, and I hope they’re clear. Even better, I hope they work. (The XXX….s are the box breaks)
Alexi, thank you for all your efforts. I have printed out your instructions and will try to apply them, as time permits. I may just have to open a new account with a different email address.
,
It’s raining so hard…
I guess the lady and her dog went inside.
You mean the lady and her dog that are always there?
Yes…. I see her whenever Nighthawks posts a painting of a street corner…. which is pretty often.
I was worried about her tonight, but I realized she probably has what my mother liked to say I lacked….
The sense to come in out of the rain.

It’s an ad for Oklahoma tourism.
But the artist painted a real gas station… in Illinois.
Nowadays it’s a historically preserved site, used as an Illinois tourist center.
,.
Watch out… I’ve got an angry cub and I know how to use it!
Beware of the diapers!!!
Yes. Faith. That looks like a prayerful pose from EWC in mid-air.
Cleo was always overconfident!
Be careful what you ask for. 😀
Nice set of songs/videos tonight. Especially enjoyed Good Vibrations.

Just out of curiosity…
Why will that gif work better than the other animated versions we have?

I really missed that lively avatar.
Thanks, Alexi!

Just a thought Cleo… but maybe when you utter the phrase “that big fat white blob of fur” …
I mean, just maybe…
You shouldn’t have your front paws planted on either side…
of your.. well… for want of a better description…
your big white blob of fur.
…
C’mon, Cleo… I did leave out “fat”, didn’t I?
tamales
It’s Thursday’s menu special in Mexico City.
So, Taco Tuesday and Tamale Thursday?? Sounds good to me!
“Apfelmännchen”
The center is the Buddhabrot.
I wonder whether the rest could actually be fractal.
That will make your head swim.
Are we sure that’s not Lio’s commando cat?
Good morning Cleo phans!
I just can’t resist a sale
Y’all have a great Wednesday! (((((HuGz!)))))
Guess what day it is!!!
HUMP DAY IS HERE!
The little one in the cart looks like he’s getting really squished!
Or like “I’m holding them all!!!”
Or that!
it wouldn’t be hump day without you, Plods!
More fun than a barrel of monkeys, it’s a cartful of (mostly) huskies!
Pickled Pete is on a roll.
Brought over from today’s “The Comic Strip….”.
Boo! 😀
groan!
