I hope the basset version ended better than the human version. I wish the human version had gone with one of the legends that both came back to the U.S. and died of old age; although I suspect the movie ending was probably closer to the truth.

our Utah neighbor was a ‘Parker’. she was 6 or 7 when Butch came back from So, America. he was escorted to central Utah by local sheriffs where he returned to the home he built for his family,.

I’ve read that it’s a myth… but it’s hard not to believe a little girl, who says she saw it.

She wasn’t old enough to have an agenda, or even to make it up for no reason.

Working with a couple of sites, I come up with…
Although working in Germany, Koroush Namazi is either Iranian, or of Iranian descent.
This piece’s title is listed in translation to English as “Faces.”

A     LINK     to more of his works.

If I stretch my imagination a bit, I get Ann-Margret and Elvis.

The knife fight scene – was this before or after the similar setup in Indiana Jones?

Hi Dennis. Butch Cassidy was way ahead of Indy.

Oooh… such a bee-oo-ti-ful poster, Stel!

I love the movie, too.

I know they were baaad doggies…

But their tail is told in a lighthearted way… bad-guy movies back then then were allowed to NOT be mean and dark and gritty.

When I saw those photos, years ago, of the real dogs…

I thought, and I still think, that they look like they should have played the opposite roles.

Paul Newhound looks so much like the real Sundance Pup!

….

Same with the humans… Stel has placed a photo of the two human stars right above one of the real human outlaws…

See the fellow on the right in each picture… don’t they look alike?

But the actor on the right is Paul Newman…. who played Butch Cassidy…

And the human outlaw on the right is Harry Longabaugh, better known as the Sundance Kid.

Newman was actually playing Butch Cassidy… the outlaw on the left.

….

Another funny thing about Paul Newhound… I know he’s a handsome dog….

with those piercing hound dog eyes that make so many ladies…. canine and human…. sigh deeply.

But somehow, though I like his movies, and his personality…

the magic of his looks is lost on me…

I think I said before that I never really thought about it ’till I was talking with a friend about his film…

and I referred to Robbie Redflea as “the good-looking dog.”

She said “Which? They’re both good looking!”

Oh.

Well…. you can take Paul Newhound for a long walk and I’ll stay here and scratch that handsome Robbie Redflea behind the ears.

Ooops. maybe someone will have to walk Katherine Ruffs, though.
I’m pretty sure she wants to bite me.

It’s OK, Katherine…. here girl… c’mon… have a biscuit.

I’m just scritchin’ his ears.

I’m human, and he’s a dog… and I’m too old to have puppies anyway. Good girl….

….

So forward thinking, BTW, of 21st Century Basset to change their name, years ahead of that human company still stuck in the 20th.

I think they stopped calling themselves foxes, at least…

Trying to imitate the bassets… but they must have been sued by
some actual foxes.

And what’s with the humans lined up along the bottom of their poster, Stel?

I don’t see a line of doggies with their paws in the air on yours!

And they couldn’t find any flowers to rival your beautiful antique bouquet.

I see by your video that they couldn’t match the Bertie Backscratch tune, either…

“Kibble keeps falling on my head♫ ♪

But that doesn’t mean my eyes will soon be turning blue ♫ ♪ ♬ ♩

Now I have an ear-worm.

Funny, isn’t it? Who can understand or codify attraction?

I felt like asking the same question when you said you never found Tom Petty attractive. Huh??

Now, I didn’t say he was handsome… But he was very attractive.

I know it’s not just being “good looking”, “handsome”, “pretty”, etc, that makes people so.

Maybe it’s like the receptor cones in our eyes that “fire”, so we can see colors.

We recognise accepted standards… But a certain tilt of a nose, corner of a smile, look in the eye… fires a receptor we don’t know about.

And so do things that have nothing to do with appearance. A laugh, a turn of phrase, a kindness.

Objectively I guess Paul Newman and Robert Redford were both handsome… I was just more attracted to Redford, or his type, or something.

If handsomeness(?) were all that counted, Paul McCartney would have been the most attractive Beatle… But we ALL know that was George… cough….

I’ve known at least two men who, noting my admiration for Audrey Hepburn, told me some version of how women say she’s beautiful but men think she’s ugly!

Obviously untrue… Many men think she’s beautiful too.

All in all, though, for the preservation of the species, it’s a good thing tastes vary!

From Tuesday.

I finally got around to watching “Illustration and the Counter Culture of the 1960s” by Pete Beard (acid rock background music by “Pete Beard & The Missing Links”). Mind blowing (just to stay in tune).
Once again I stopped and started just to read and absorb.
Keep them coming, please. 🐇

Philadelphia Ice Cream for dessert, anyone?

From:
”The Fannie Farmer Cookbook” (Twelfth Edition)
Revised by: Marion Cunningham with Jeri Laber
Illustrated by: Lauren Jarret
Published by: Bantam Books
ISBN 0-553-23488-9

” Philadelphia Ice Cream ”

“Deep in flavor, light in texture, easy to make – Philadelphia ice
cream is richer and creamier than French vanilla ice cream. If
it is too rich for your taste, use one part light cream to one part
heavy – a better proportion for some of the rich variations that
follow.” (3 PINTS)

1 quart heavy cream, or
2 cups heavy cream and 2 cups light cream
3/4 cup sugar
pinch of salt
1 teaspoon finely grated vanilla bean, or 2 teaspoons vanilla extract (real not artificial)

Mix everything together and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Freeze
in a hand-cranked or electric ice cream freezer.

Notes from me:
Under the heading “Flavored Ice Creams” there are 13 variations listed in the book. I didn’t like any of them, so I’m not going to inflict them on you.
I mean really:
Peppermint candy, pistachio, ginger…?
Ice cream making machines are widely available and they’re fairly inexpensive.

A link to      B.C. Dairy     about the various types of cream.

Here’s the book’s recipe (the italics are the book’s / the “1/2” isn’t italicized although the “1” is).

Pistachio Ice Cream

Omit the vanilla and add 1 teaspoon almond extract and 1/2 cup pistachio nuts, chopped fine. Color lightly with green vegetable coloring.
