Hitchcock left this world in 1980, and I didn’t know he did cameos in his films until the mid nineties. No one ever mentioned them to me prior to that — at least not when I was paying attention (and it’s confidential what I pay attention).
Forget every Bo Derek “joke” you’ve ever heard, and listen to his interpretation of “Bolero.” It’s a beautiful piece of music, as nighthawks showed us a few days back, but I like Rieu’s interpretation better.
…and there’s a problem with Firefox – I get shown the link to “High Anxiety”; the bird scene I uploaded.
Works fine with Chromium, though.
I just wanted to report.
The video is showing here on my PC. It’s so odd that different browsers allow different sites. MSN won’t allow me to embed videos, but Chrome will. Who can figure? Thanks for that video by the way….a great parody of the Birds that only Mel Brooks could do that well!
That is indeed a scary animated bird image! I didn’t realize that it was animated at first, when I just went quickly through the comments earlier. It kind of startled me, the second time through! Nice find!!
So – everyone who ever nursed someone for an extended period of time without fitting benefits? – No; I’m not necessarily talking about parents. But they’d deserve it, too.
Well, I’m confused, Tigressy. Are you referring to the Medal of Honor? If so, here’s what that is:
“The Medal of Honor (MOH) is the United States government’s highest and most prestigious military decoration that may be awarded to recognize American soldiers, sailors, marines, airmen, Space Force guardians, and coast guardsmen who have distinguished themselves by acts of valor. The medal is normally awarded by the President of the United States, but as it is presented “in the name of the United States Congress”, it is often referred to as the “Congressional Medal of Honor”.
Just in case you didn’t know….and, if you did, then I apologize for presuming otherwise.
Those anniversary days when our loved ones have passed are always sad. I took care of both my parents for 6 years. They both broke their hips within 2 weeks of each other, both were admitted to a nursing home within 2 weeks of each other, and both died 5 years later within 2 weeks of each other. I take comfort that after 67 years of marriage, they still did things together!
Oh, Stel, you have outdone yourself today. You took what the humans have called a scary movie, and made it watchable for me! I’m sure we won’t have to sit in the scaredy-cat row for this one!
I’ll bring enough kibble corn for the whole gang. We probably won’t need extra to throw at the screen. I don’t think it’ll be scary at all.
Where are the melting watch and the burning giraffe? – My late 12 years older sister had a tiny print of that painting in her room when I was little. Scary.
I never found the human version particularly scary or satisfying (with no denouement.) I much preferred the Mad Magazine version where Burt Lancaster was taking vengeance for not getting an Academy Award for “Bird Man of Alcatraz…”
OK, I DID comment to you and the comment is not here. I finally figured out that I periodically forget to click on “post comment”. DUH!
What I did say was let’s not forget “Cujo”……bwa-ha-ha….
A nice, cuddly, loveable St. Bernard who turns into a monster! Could it happen with a Basset??? I shudder to think……
Lord Almighty……….is there ANY way I can get my replies to appear under the comment where I originally replied…..they always end up a mile away! Good Lord, that’s frustrating! Anyone else noticing this, or is it only me?
Pooches, bulldogs, bull terriers,…
As long as their masters are well behaved, I won’t have any issues with them whatsoever.
Otherwise, the dogs would adopt me as their new master and follow me home…
My first spoken word was “Theus” (Zeus) which was our neighbor’s healthy German shepherd’s name…
Two steady streams! Now all he needs to do is shake is head. My son and daughter-in-law breed long haird dachshunds. Honey just had a litter of seven today. They are so cute
original movie poster
(I couldn’t resist doing another “theme” today!)
Hitchcock’s human cameo:
Confession time:
Hitchcock left this world in 1980, and I didn’t know he did cameos in his films until the mid nineties. No one ever mentioned them to me prior to that — at least not when I was paying attention (and it’s confidential what I pay attention).
I’m glad you liked André Rieu.
Forget every Bo Derek “joke” you’ve ever heard, and listen to his interpretation of “Bolero.” It’s a beautiful piece of music, as nighthawks showed us a few days back, but I like Rieu’s interpretation better.
Thanks for that cameo clip, Dennis! It’s been decades since I’ve seen the film and Hitchcock’s cameos are always fun to see!
Just me trying to find the like/dislike button box again, I actually like it.
To each his own, Alexi. I just think that the ‘dislike’ button may (and, hopefully, not) cause some bad feelings among folks. I hope I’m wrong!
I have no issue with the ‘like’ button, though.
The newest ‘Olive and Mabel’ video…
I love Olive and Mabel!
I know you do!!! Me, too!
…and there’s a problem with Firefox – I get shown the link to “High Anxiety”; the bird scene I uploaded.
Works fine with Chromium, though.
I just wanted to report.
Edit: It appears to be fine now.
I love that bird scene!
The video is showing here on my PC. It’s so odd that different browsers allow different sites. MSN won’t allow me to embed videos, but Chrome will. Who can figure? Thanks for that video by the way….a great parody of the Birds that only Mel Brooks could do that well!
I have never seen them before, very cute!
Oooh, The Bassets. Almost as scary as The Howling.
What do they do – behave like the pigeons in Mel Brooks’ “High Anxiety”?
Ha! I never saw this!
Well worth watching!
You clearly see Mel Brooks’ admiration for Alfred Hitchcock’s work.
Hilarious example (details!): https://youtu.be/emKogBBdbHE
…and just to pile on…
Oh no! I’ll be humming this all day!
One of our favorite films.
No, no, not the Bassets!
Stel, I prefer Tipsy Hounden.
Of course!….another option!
StelBel, was that your first Hitchdog poster? I loved the penguin race and the mating dance.
Both good! Kudos to the poker playing dogs too. I still think a Velociraptor will beat even a dog with 5 aces.
Lawn flamingos will beat the Velo…
(see what StelBel has posted only a few days ago)
My sister loved that! Somehow, she has a thing for lawn flamingos (just not in her yard).
Our older daughter (Palmdale) does, too. They have them all over.
LOL!
Hah! I agree, Farside!!
I was trying to post an image with Roadrunner, Daffy Duck and Tweety Bird, but was not successful.
Let’s see…off the top of my head: Psycho, North by Northwest, The Wrong Man, Lifeboat, and of course, The Birds……not sure in which order, though.
Although I liked all of them, my favorite one to work on was Psycho.
I’m glad you enjoyed the penguin race and the mating dance. I got a kick out of both of ’em!
Road Runner!
Yesterday, with all the replies, I became a Trusted Member. I’m shooting for Sinister Skulker, or something in that vein.
I think you can be both…
The trick is to be a sinister skulker when they all think they can trust you…. bwa ha hah….
ooooh………how your mind works….
I’ve forgotten…what’s the name of that dog?
Ah! Finally got logged in.
Hmm, I don’t see a _Delete_ function.
If you’re not seeing a “delete” function I suspect that you are not logged in.
I brought over my attachment from a few days back (it pops right up if you click on it).
The most important “tell” you’ll see, if you in fact are logged in, is the “Howdy” bar shown in box 3.
You are not logged in yet. See Alexi’s diagram below.
Muttley?
Dick Dastardly’s sidekick.
Yes!!! Thank you!
How’s “Noble Member”, instead???
OMG “The Bassets!”
Such a scary movie! I still I get the chills just thinking about it.
You know… behind the scenes may have been scary too.
I’ve read that even Yippi Houndron herself was terrified…..
especially after some live bassets were used in a scene where she was promised they’d all be mechanical.
…
A few years ago, she said that was all part of Alfred Hitchdog’s bullying and intimidation of her…..
all the things he did out of jealousy when
she was his protege… his beautiful bird in a cage.
…
I mean, well… look at him…
Those jowls, for one thing… they make him look like he could be part bulldog!
I don’t think he is, being a famous basset director….. but his face sure looks intimidating, doesn’t it!
Did he really intimidate Tipsy to the point of being terrified?
We’ll never know the whole truth.
….
Anyhow,,,,as for the human movie.
How can a bird possibly match a basset in scare power?
But … you could look again at this strange image I found….
It is for the human version….
The birds are scary enough… imagine bassets!
I had to fix a typo, so I edited my comment.
When I click “save” it removed the image…
I checked, and it had surrounded the image link with what appeared to be nullifying code… tags like “no refer” and “no follow”.
So I deleted all that and added the link again…
and now it doesn’t post as an image.
Anybody know why, for either?
I don’t know why, but it happens to me, too.
I just remove the unwanted part of the link then.
It’s working now.
It’s a computer. Not a ‘why’ question.
Bird droppings are bad enough, but Bassets!???
That is indeed a scary animated bird image! I didn’t realize that it was animated at first, when I just went quickly through the comments earlier. It kind of startled me, the second time through! Nice find!!
Good morning, phellow Cleo phans and phanatics! T – 19D 2H 6M
Another Stel-lar poster from the Bel. I don’t think I can really be scared of a basset. Maybe this is a parody of the original?
Y’all hang loose…. (((((HUGS FOR ALL!)))))
Lobster Newberg Day
Way to ruin a good lobster.
Won’t get an argument from me.
or, enhance it.
mmm…..Lobster Newburg…..so good, but soooo rich!
Salute

I do know.
Doesn’t change the fact that there are lots of civilians who do what the text above says.
Oh; yes – and my dear mom’s death-day (I took care of my late elder sister afterwards without her).
Those anniversary days when our loved ones have passed are always sad. I took care of both my parents for 6 years. Grab an Orc, it’s
Awright, I’ll go back to “reading” my audiobook of “The Hobbit” on my walk today…
Thanks so much, Plods!!
Where, oh where is the loobster?
I mean really. Afraid of this?
My kind of watch dog.
(Don’t) Break a leg!
Oh, Stel, you have outdone yourself today. You took what the humans have called a scary movie, and made it watchable for me! I’m sure we won’t have to sit in the scaredy-cat row for this one!

…except for the “relief”…
Tell me that waking up to this staring at you wouldn’t make you wet the bed.
hahahahaahaaaaa
My opinion – scarier.
nah….just messier!
Where are the melting watch and the burning giraffe? – My late 12 years older sister had a tiny print of that painting in her room when I was little. Scary.
maybe, only with laughter!
(this comment should have appeared UNDER the Beach Basset! My comments are never where they’re supposed to be!)
I never found the human version particularly scary or satisfying (with no denouement.) I much preferred the Mad Magazine version where Burt Lancaster was taking vengeance for not getting an Academy Award for “Bird Man of Alcatraz…”
It was if you saw it as a kid!
Yes, I’m sure you’ll be able to tolerate watching this version…….or maybe not? Remember “Cujo”? bwa-ha-ha…..
Edit a few minutes later, after commenting up above again:
Aha! Here’s where my ‘wascally’ comment disappeared to!
OK, I DID comment to you and the comment is not here. I finally figured out that I periodically forget to click on “post comment”. DUH!
What I did say was let’s not forget “Cujo”……bwa-ha-ha….

I saw your Cujo comment hours ago. You didn’t forget to post it, WordPress is playing games again… (Funny how all the posting sites are incompetent…)
Nah. It’d never be scary with a basset!
Lord Almighty……….is there ANY way I can get my replies to appear under the comment where I originally replied…..they always end up a mile away! Good Lord, that’s frustrating! Anyone else noticing this, or is it only me?
Take two Aspirins and call them in the morning. They seem to get their act together eventually…
Hah! Thanks…..I needed that, JPS !!
Yes, it has happened to me
I love Alfred Hitchcock as a basset. Great take on the poster. Bassets are terrifying ~ they could drown you in drool.
Indeed….just look at Plods‘s drooling basset above!
Two steady streams! Now all he needs to do is shake is head. My son and daughter-in-law breed long haird dachshunds. Honey just had a litter of seven today. They are so cute
I totally agree.
The cats among the dogs!
I got one when I was 12.
Post pictures, Perkycat !!! I’d love to see them! I bet they’re just too adorable for words!!
Alfred Hitchdog would be afraid too afraid to watch that movie.
