Probably not, but I sure would enjoy them at the time (maybe not ~ that’s a lot to eat). They look so yummy! I’m not a big strawberry fan, so maybe I would leave that for someone else.
New York City’s “Flat Iron Building,” widely accepted as the inspiration for “Nighthawks” although Edward Hopper never confirmed that sentiment.
This is a picture of an art installation which is really accurate as to the characters in “Nighthawks” (there are better pictures of it, but this is the first one I found that was not blocked from being linked) .
No flower better signals the start of spring than crocuses, early bloomers that come in Easter egg colors such as purple,
lavender, orange, pink, and yellow. Crocuses are perennial, flowering bulbs that are built for toughness. As you can see,
the plants are able to endure frost and even snow because their flowers and leaves are protected by a waxy cuticle. That’s
why the first blooms you see in spring are often crocuses. They can grow in a variety of environments, even in the high
elevations of the alpine tundra above the tree line.
While other blooms are still slumbering, crocuses are up and at ’em. Naturally, they are magnets for brave bees and birds,
like this great tit coming in for a snow-covered landing. The birds are widespread and common in Europe, the Middle East,
and Central Asia—and they know a sure sign of spring when they see one.
I wasn’t aiming for anything! The “ ” was some sort of mistake (either the program’s or mine….who knows? I wasn’t aware of having done anything before I posted everything and, it’s never happened before) and showed up quite unexpectedly. I was too lazy just to go back and edit it out. I use the “B, I, U, and S” all the time and never type out any codes from scratch.
Your methods, although you’re quite comfortable using them all the time, seem much too complicated for what I do, and I have found ways to get things done in much simpler ways …..forme. The formatting here is much more streamlined than the old ways we had to use on GoComics and all the long codes and using keyboard characters are no longer necessary…..again, for me.
Thanks for always being there to offer help, though!!!! It is appreciated!! I know that a lot of people have been helped by you.
BTW, I just went back and edited out the “ ” that had shown up. All is well.
Two carry-overs from yesterday.
nighthawks’ posting of “Ghostbusters” was:

I went looking late, which is why this is here.
It may be a different account’s posting of the same video, but if it isn’t, it’s a light treat to start your morning with.
This is Ray Parker Jr.’s apparent demo video.
It’s really well done; as a plus, there are some of the well known people of the time scattered throughout in cameo appearances some of whom I recognize, and some of whom, I don’t.
And Cab Calloway in a studio somewhere doing “St. James Infirmary” with his band. He is a showman from the old school as well as an excellent singer.

For standard ten pins bowling, Clara is absolutely right. One hundred is not impressive. But for candlepins, 100 is not a bad score. It’s not great, but it’s not bad.
I trust they will not be giving any of that chocolate to Cleo, though it is in no way surprising that she can smell it and (thinks she) wants some.
And finally, Claude, splurge and buy yourself a bowling shirt that covers up that gut.
I might be a little more interested in bowling if it involved chocolate.
“A little more interested”, however, won’t cover all the distance from “far less than zero interest” to “a modicum of interest“… so you probably wouldn’t notice the difference.
(Might be comparable to one of Nighthawks’ “micro-differences” that Dennis mentioned yesterday.)
It doesn’t really matter though… cos I believe I could truthfully say that bowling isn’t very interested in me.
…
In fact, i haven’t gone bowling in years…
Used to go occasionally… well, let’s say “used to go as seldom as I could get away with without seeming antisocial“… back in the 70’s, perhaps early 80’s… when there were several bowling alleys in town.
They, and local interest, faded away together. Now there’s one place in the next town…
I’m told they focus as much on selling food and booze, and hosting “singles nights” there, as on the game.
…
Last time I bowled regularly was when forced to, in Girl Scouts and then again in high school, when it was a “chapter” in P.E., or Phys Ed… or whatever they called it in your school.
Let me just say that I’d have been thrilled with bowling over 100 three games in a row.
I think I’d be thrilled with bowling over 100 ever.
Maybe I have… I don’t remember. 200? Not in my wildest dreams.
….
I DO remember bowling a different sort of “perfect game”… a score of zero. The manager came over to congratulate me.
I also remember bowling a gutter ball that somehow bounced into the next lane, and knocked down a couple of pins.
I had to accompany the other girl to the desk, to explain, apologise, and ask to have her pins reset.
My college had a 4-lane bowling alley and bowling was one way to fulfill the PE requirement. Ten games a week for a semester. My group of friends (none of us very athletic) opted for it as an easy way to do the requirement without having to change, work up a sweat, etc. Would do all 10 games in one afternoon and then forget about it until the next week
In high school we’d be bussed to a nearby bowling alley for a 3 or 4 week section. My junior year the 2 exchange students from Mexico and Argentina were in my class. With my 4 years of Spanish behind me, I tried to explain the rules and how to play. (They had not had much English language prep and, of course, bowling didn’t exist in their countries.)
But the real fun that year was square dancing. The corresponding boys gym class had the son of the 9th grade Spanish teacher in it (native of Ecuador), so he and I would try to translate/explain the calls in real time. I don’t think we ever succeeded in doing a “grand right and left” properly. Sometime we’d end up with a same sex partner! Never figured out how we did that. Do-si-dos we could handle, as well as swing your partner.
Now to my boring Sunday bit.
I am now 180.8 pounds, and I have already added “weight” to my exercise regimen.
184 lbs.– 180.8 lbs. = 3.2 lbs.
39 lbs. – 3.2 .lbs. = 35.8 lbs. (balance of desired loss to reach 145 lbs.).
29.296875 in³/lb. butter × 3.2 lbs. = 93.75 in³ of me lost (1,048.828125 in³ of me to go) .
180.8 lbs. – 1.5 lbs. = 179.3 lbs. (next Sunday’s goal weight)
The extra loss is not because I’m starving or dehydrating myself. I figure it’s simply because I went from “inert” to “more-active-than-I-was-even-before-this-mess” and burning extra calories.

I’m not the least bit offended you advised me to “eliminate the sugar as much as possible–.”
You meant it as a good thing. Good things are always welcome.
Incidentally, please see my reply to StelBel above re: “blank” lead-ins to attachments.

This one is really funny! Poor Claude!
I took bowling in college and when I joined a league later in life, I kept a 170 + average. My highest games were in the 270’s. Education pays off.
I should add that I probably couldn’t even get to 100 today after many years of not bowling. Heck, I probably coudn’t even lift the ball today. Aging does not pay off.
Katya Minkina
Very nice.
He is a handsome boy!
.
Aaaahhhh. Health food.
I’ll have the Fritter, please.
I’ll take one of each……haven’t had breakfast yet.
one of each?….you wouldn’t like yourself very much after doing that
Probably not, but I sure would enjoy them at the time (maybe not ~ that’s a lot to eat). They look so yummy! I’m not a big strawberry fan, so maybe I would leave that for someone else.
from the other side
well, I’ll just add that my cart
For a moment i saw a creepy kid across the street.
Me too.
Wearing denim overalls, right?
And even knowing now what it is, I can’t picture it being where it is…
I always thought the cafe was set at the intersection of two narrow, urban streets, meeting at a sharper than 90% angle.

At least his fly isn’t open. – Or in his soup. (Yes; there’s a picture of that.)
I could join his league, 100 is great for me.
I never like candlepins–there’s too much down time relighting the candles after each frame
Chocolate is always a winner.

“all join hands a don’t you mutter–
Roll that ball and get it in the gutter”
Your are silly. I’m trying to picture that….. not pretty.
It’s been so long – over 50 years! – I don’t have a clue how to begin to say that in Spanish.
In my old league, a 130 average was really good. (of course it was candle pins, but hey I liked it.)
Good morning Cleophanatics! It’s a bright sunny feels like 16F here in the Midwest.
Best version ever.
