I see both too.

I’m confused, but I see both.

(Confused because I thought IBB stopped doing gifs, AND because I thought you had to do a direct upload and couldn’t use links up there.)

You do know that humans tried to copy this great basset commercial?

But they didn’t have a basset hound, only a human man, so how could he possibly be that interesting? It’s not like roses sniff him.

I guess that’s why their commercials are for beer… Trying to add a little excitement.

I love that Dos Alpos is literally two bags of Alpo.
And the filmstrip at the end… It even has a reflection!

BTW… I’ve read that Johnathan Goldsmith, the actor from the human version, recently came back, after a 10-year hiatus, to film some new commercials. They had tried to replace him with another actor, but it didn’t last long. Apparently he was less interesting.

Goldsmith is now in his mid 80s. I’m glad that at least one advertiser is willing to bet on potential customers finding a person interesting who isn’t under 30!

Yay for Dos Equis! Even if they did copy the bassets.

You guys from outside the US… did any of you see the originals?

I don’t watch programs interrupted by commercials anymore and haven’t for a loooong time, so – no.

They were 10 to 20 years ago.

I haven’t had TV at all since 2008, when the US went digital, but I saw the first ones, and like I said above, I read that Goldsmith just came back after 10 years away.

Probably, though, they weren’t shown in Germany anyway…. plus Dos Equis may not even be available there. It would be kind of silly for them to try to compete with German beer in Germany!

We got them in Canada. Probably only on American channels, though…..

I looked it up when those ads had run before I wrote my comment above. And yes, I have avoided programs with ads back then.
I wouldn’t know if we had those ads here.
I stopped watching TV when they changed from DVB-T to DVB-T2 (both digital) because our flat-screen can’t process DVB-T2.
The one program I was interested in watching live doesn’t exist anymore (no ads in it), and there are mediatheks enough for the few shows I’m interested in.

Yeah… I’m thinking they might not sell Dod Equis in the UK either, unless Mexican beer is somehow considered exotic.

Corona…

In the UK or Germany?

To me, almost any beer in either country is better than almost any beer from Mexico or the US… though small artisan breweries have very much improved the dismal state of American beer.

It used to be nothing but an embarrassment, but nowadays there are some craft beers worth drinking…
Now that I can’t, of course.

Not that I was ever a big drinker… But if you’re only going to have one beer, once in a while, why not have a good one.

In Germany, of all the places.

Corona is available in the UK.

I’ve had a Japanese ‘beer’ and to me it was a pale imitation of American beer. And, not to put too fine a point on it, the American beers I’ve tried are worse than the mainstream lager we get here.

I’m not slagging off American beer, I’ve only sampled a few of the ones we get over here, plus I was given a US beer by an USAF airman many years ago, and it was better than the version sold in our shops. But that’s the same all over I expect, something made using local produce/materials is always going to be different from the original.

Puppeteer…. Jerzy Kedziora, 2014
Cold cast bronze, 39.4″ × 23.6″ × 19.7″

That’s way smaller than I thought, looking at the picture.

Just over 3 feet tall would be including the strings… So the top figure is about 2 feet tall, cos it looks about as tall as it is wide… And the little puppet less than a foot.

When the camouflage is right, it’s right.

A few years back, regular green and khaki camouflage prints were very popular, like on tshirts and jackets. In the city, at the store, etc.

I like to tease little kids wearing camouflage clothes, by telling them I can’t see them.

And not long ago I told a young fellow at the Grocery Outlet that his camouflage army type jacket wasn’t working.

He looked puzzled… So I said the print should be shelves of cans. Soup and beans and tomatoes.

Hmmm, I wonder why my gate is sagging? It must be a bad hinge.

So you’re saying you’re unhinged?

Voxx

The whole gate is sagging even before the hinge came into the equation. It looks like he built it with Brad nails instead of screws. That 45° brace should connect to the side of the gate and not the top.The way it is now, it’s just a decoration.

More_Cats_Than_Sense

Diagonal brace is the wrong way around, the filler pieces are the wrong size, and the Tee-hinge should be longer. I bet the screws go all the way through the gate too!

I would have just used long bolts – drill the hole, stick the bolt through, then try to figure out how to hold the outside while I’m on the inside trying to tighten the nuts. Like I said…some of my projects would, as they say, fail to launch….

Use coach bolts, the square under the head should hold. That’s what I did anyhoo, plus I’d already fitted two screws to the hinge to hold the door in place first.
