I don’t think she expected it to go in. She reacted as soon as it went in, so I think the foam wasn’t the surprise. If they are Mentos, there isn’t a lot of clearance.
I’ve finished reading Stephen King’s “Fairy Tale.”
He was the author I mentioned who taught me the subject of “The Scream” was a woman.
It’s not as bad as his usual obscenity fests, but there are still too many superfluous ones (and the ones that an argument (poor) could be made weren’t could have been left out without detriment to the story.
Had he left them out the book would be at least a page and a half shorter; and their placement ruined all of what are otherwise well written scenes within a well thought plot.
I did finish it because it was an interesting take on fairy tales; and as I said well thought out (but those completely useless obscenities…).
I have no evidence other than most of his work for this thought, but I get the impression that he would tell me in effect that he-said-exactly-what-he-wanted-to-say-and-said-it that-way (I call it lazy writing
As I’ve said elsewhere, when he is forced to write to someone else’s standards, he’s impressed me three times, and had he been writing to someone else’s standards with “Fairy Tale” would have impressed me again (it’s too bad he’s so lazy).
In the sense that I meant it,I stand by my “lazy.”
Incidentally, Ned Dameron’s cover illustration for “Charlie the Choo-Choo,” written under his pseudonym of Beryl Evans, caused me to put it on hold at the library.
After all these years, I still do not know what to think of the Village People. The stereotypes can be offensive, but does anyone take them seriously? Seems to be goofy fun more than anything.
A LINK back to this date last year and the no bottom-crust deep dish apple pie recipe I posted there (episode 14, the denouement, of “Murder on the Midnight Express) and this . LINK takes you back to 2021’s apple pie recipe (Rotty Tailwagger’s “Escape From Cleveland”).

Didn’t I see her in the April “Dogue Vogue”?

Everybody needs a boost now and then.
hey! where’s percky cat?!?
Vitaly Shchukin
cute!
…oops…
This really did make me laugh out loud.
Her reaction is priceless!
What is she tossing in there?
There are stories about aspirin or Mentos doing that, but I’ve never seen it happen.
And if it does sometimes work, or she thinks it might, she seems awfully surprised for someone who expected it.
I assume it is some kind of bicarbonate product. I guess she had never seen the reaction before. Good luck with absorbing all that foam!
Mentos.

I got that impression as well.
I’ve got all ten.
I got six. I’ll try again in the morning.
Seven so far…
Nine…
Another great New Yorker cover puzzle from StelBel this week.
For just a moment I was talking it as a serious sketch of some seemingly frequent park regulars, enjoying the sunshine…
Till I realised the dog brought his own book to enjoy.
And he’s snacking in human style. I don’t know many dogs who wouldn’t gobble the lot by the count of 3… Or maybe before you could count to one.
Anyhow, there are ten differences, and I’m convinced that you can find them.
Then you can compare with what I found, if you’d care to
BINGO!
All ten. Despite my lumbago.
Dang, I double counted one. I was so happy to reach ten, that I quit looking. I counted two different aspects of the same difference 🙁
Hey! Got ’em all.
it took awhile, but i’m a winner today!!! thanks for the easy one today.
Gotta thank StelBel!
I just solve ’em.

I like your reviews and get hold of some of the books.
Keep them coming!

I found nine pretty quickly earlier. I just reviewed it an almost gave up when I found the tenth.
In my experience, most dogs can’t put a book down till they’re finished with it.
National Train day- closest Saturday to May 10
Charging…
Appears at 2 minutes 38/39 seconds in this Gordon Lightfoot rendition of “The Canadian Railroad Trilogy” (in action).
“What are you up to?”
“Not much. Just blowing off a little steam.”
