Another one I can’t find a title for.
It’s by Peking (now Beijing) born artist (1957) Z.Z. Wei.

Here’s another by him I think nighthawks might appreciate.
It’s called      ‘Rural Route‘.

Still a work in progress…

I’m pretty sure about 9 of the 12, so far, and possibly a 10th.

Compare yours here..
Numbering across, row by row….

1) Skirting the issue

2) Pretty please with sugar on top.

3) not sure… something about feedback and Satan, unholy, etc… maybe it will come to me.

4) again, not sure… I thought of “eating away” but I don’t think so

5) Spring forward, Fall back. (Time change instructions and a great mnemonic!)

6) ok, maybe “he’s under the weather.”

7) Coffee break

8) I understand

9) What goes up must come down.

10) Top notch student

11) crossroads

12) Big bad wolf.

Well done! I haven’t got that many, but

maybe
3 Feed the devil?
and 4 Eating out?

Thanks!

And maybe,

but….
Why is feed backwards? That’s what makes me think it’s “feedback”, but I can’t find a phrase.

I did find out that “Devil’s Feedback” is the name of an obscure rock band, but what isn’t?

I doubt it’s well known enough to be the answer.

And I thought of “eating out”, too, just like “eating away”, but thought that would be a terrible clue for either.

Agghh….

I like your # 10, I got:

#10
Marginal student (I thought it was a piece of paper torn, leaving only the margin).

And for number 4

#4
Poor (pour) eating

I was just posting another guess at #4 before I refreshed and saw yours.

I’m still not satisfied with any answer

but….

I like mine a bit better.

For one thing, I don’t think of “poor eating” as a phrase…

And also… if they used “pour” for “poor” in a language puzzle, I’d have to go give them some what-for.

These puzzles are often given out by teachers.

Another thought about number four

Not perfect but…
How about over-eating?

I like it better than the other guesses I’ve come up with

My #3 & #4…
For me, my #3 was
“Devil’s in the feedback”
My #4 was
“Eating take-out”

SusanSunshine

Once again, maybe…

Is that an actual expression, “Devil’s in the feedback”?

As for 4, better than some, but I’m not convinced any of us have it.

Which probably only means it’s a bad clue.

For my #3, best link I can find:

And I’m still working on a better #4 response…

SusanSunshine

Hmmm…
the actual expression used there is “the devil’s in the details”, which is common.

I’d love to to say I’ve ever seen “the devil’s in the feedback” but I haven’t..

And these answers are supposedly common expressions or phrases.

I’m still thinking 4 might be “overeating” but does a tipped over glass mean “over”?

And nobody has commented on #6 lately.

Is it…

“he”s under the “weather”?

Best I could do but I don’t like it#

Pretty sure that you are correct on #6:
He’s under the weather
Another take on #4, a combination of what was stated previously:
Poor (pour) over-eating

Here are my answers
I’m not sure about 3, 4, and 6

1) Skirting around the issue
2) Please with sugar on top
3) Devil’s food
4) Liquid diet
5) Spring ahead, fall back
6) Laughing in the rain (poor clue, I think)
7) Coffee break
8) I understand
9) What goes up must come down
10) Top notch student
11) Crossroads
12) Big bad wolf

Um….

sorry but…
You have to think about the pictures as representing actual words in the answer, which also has to be a common phrase.

I didn’t get those 3 either, but still…

There’s no reason to think DEEF represents “food” or WEATHER means it’s raining! Nor is “laughing in the rain” a common phrase. I don’t see representations of liquid or diet in 4, either.

I don’t like my answer to 6 either… “He’s under the weather” .. but at least there are two “he”s under “weather”.

I think maybe we’ll get there but we’re not there yet.

I like #4, I think that’s it.

Thanks Alexi…

i was about to repeat that post about Perkycat, because it was probably too late for those of you who don’t check back later on Cleo.

I wrote to her a few days ago, when I hadn’t seen her for 5 days.

As I said to her, some people come and go for that long, and I wouldn’t worry, but she’s here every day.

She replied to my email yesterday… she’s okay, but her husband is in the hospital. It’s serious, but he’s expected to recover.

Her kids are with her.

I won’t give more details until/unless she gives me permission.

(I replied, of course, with well wishes and told her we all miss her.)

And yes, about Montana Lady, too.

She posted that her Mountain Man just had surgery, and her daughter is there to take care of them both…

So now we have both of them to send thoughts, prayers and good wishes to.

You can reply to her post yesterday, or maybe she’ll stop by here today.

Then you dont want to know that I have been in the hospital since Sunday with an infection from a barn cat bite that I was giving medicine to, hopefully coming home today, lots of IVs and antibiotics, more to take when I get home

We adopted our current cat when she was about only 11 months young, us being the fifth owners.
She’ll turn 17 soon. Still looks the same.
The first 1,5 years, she was a fierce biter (wrapping herself around us) out of fear. Immediately sorry afterwards because she knew we wouldn’t hurt her (love at first sight, all of us), but the first wounds were really deep and needed medical attention.
Fortunately, I was vaccinated against tetanus and have developed a specific immunity to her bites (hardly any now) anyway. ;->
I still have to wake her when she’s having nightmares sometimes…
Well; not right now.

This is not original with me; I just copied it from a mug.

I before E

Except when your foreign neighbor Keith receives eight counterfeit beige sleighs from feisty caffeinated weightlifters.

Weird.

SusanSunshine

“I before E” is an incomplete version of the rule.

The whole thing covers most, but not all of those words.

They’re mostly not exceptions.

….

I learned it as a rhyme, when I was a wee lass:

I before E, except after C,

Or when sounding like “A“, as in “neighbor” and “weigh”.

After C: Receives

Sounding like A: Neighbor, eight, beige, sleighs, weightlifters.
Counterfeit was meant to have an A sound.

Exceptions: foreign, Keith and caffeinated follow rules from other languages. Weird is just.. weird.

The tendency to borrow words is one of the things that makes English pronunciation and spelling so difficult for non native speakers, especially those whose native languages have pretty clear cut rules.

I posted something else fairly late yesterday, as part of another comment, that I’d like to repeat (with a little editing) for some of you who probably won’t go back there.

As you may or may not have followed, Perkycat disappeared for a few days, but I wrote to her and she responded. Whew!

It brings up the subject of sharing contact info.

A couple of years ago someone disappeared who always posted as a guest.

She hadn’t shared her email address, location, or real name with anyone here, so we had no way to contact her, and still don’t know what happened..

But most of you are “members”, not “guests”.

That means that an email address is probably, but not necessarily, on file with Nighthawks and StelBel, though they never share it and would rarely use it for anything. It’s just part of WordPress registration.

In addition, many or most of you have also given me your email addresses, and are on the party invitation list.

I also have addresses for a few people who don’t want their own parties.

Of course, someone can disappear without answering an email… but at least we have a shot at reaching you.

A few of you still wish to remain guests and share no info… totally your privilege if you prefer it.

I’d just like to remind you that we have no way to find you if we wonder why you’re not here

Of you do register on the site, the information goes nowhere, and is never sold or shared.

….

Registered or not, you’re also welcome to contact me to be on the birthday invitation list (My same user name as here, at gmail.com). or even just to give me your address, with or without your real name or other info. Or say hi.

Be sure to put your Cleo user name on it, preferably in the subject line, so I know who you are.

I’d never sell or share that either, except maybe with StelBel or Nighthawks if they need your address for something Cleo-related. If you ask me not to even do that, I won’t!

….

If you show up fairly regularly, and say happy birthday to others when it’s their turn, you just might find yourself having a party of your own… Though never if you tell me you don’t want one.

Some people, BTW, do want a party without being on the invitation list… Sorry, but no.

It’s just that if you don’t want to be invited to everyone else’s party, I
can’t in good conscience invite everyone else to yours.

That’s true.

We all try to help, if anybody is having problems… but WordPress is inscrutable.

And of course, if they want a way to be contacted, they can still share their email addresses with me by email, or I think with the site (ie nighthawks and StelBel) by using the form under the comment box.

I was speaking more about a few who have said they don’t want to register.

Katina Cooper’s last post here, was     MAY 29, 2021.     Her last posts on GoComics are the same date.

She used the same avatar picture here (she did have an account) as on GoComics. I’ve placed it below.
I don’t know why it reverted to a generic WordPress avatar after about a year, but it did.

I looked a few days back and forward, it wasn’t there.

One of the things I love about the company here at Cleo & Company is the community vibe – celebrating birthdays, being concerned about others when they don’t show up for awhile, etc.

That said – to PerkyCat and MontanaLady, may both of your husbands have a complete and speedy recovery.
