I almost posted that one, but then noticed the photo, and I thought it might be interesting to show that the statue actually existed in the movie. I don’t think there’s a poster that actually exists that’s exactly like the Greta Garbone one, so I’m going to go out on a limb and say that I put it together like that.
I usually have a folder for each poster as I work on them, starting from the original “human” poster and then all the steps until my final version. For some reason, there is no Mata Hari folder on my computer….at least, not any more. And, I just can’t seem to remember what my process was when working on that back in July, 2017.
I lost everything when my computer crashed. I thought that was before 7/2017, but it could have been after.
Anyway, long story short: thanks for posting that!
I keep forgetting to post these things. If you’re even slightly missing “Uncle Art’s Funland” and “Triv Quiz” from the GoComics pages Link 1 takes you to Uncle Art’s, and Link 2 takes you to “Triv Quiz.”…
I don’t know about the printable ones, but the other puzzles on that site have a hint – like “movies”, “geography”, “sayings” and the like. Makes it easier. Not much, but… 😉
Thus my request (observe the “please”).
btw, just so you know, I wasn’t criticizing you….I was genuinely puzzled by your request, which does make sense, now. Ergo, I didn’t feel that repeating the “please” (so that you would know that I, indeed, had “observed” it) was necessary to include in my question.
Tigressy and I differ slightly on 1 (her answer is probably the wanted one), 6 (hers fits, but I still think my answer is “righter”, and I have two answers that I think fit for 5 (I’m with Tigressy on accepting the answer we agree on). As for 9, I came up with nothing. Tigressy is more than probably right, but I’m going to whine about a poor clue here. There should be an ellipsis (…) to make it clearer.
My 8 answers
1) You have three choices here.
2) good afternoon
3) sit-ups
4) little house on the prairie
5) breakfast or broken fast (as in a religious fast you didn’t keep to)
6) adverb
7) rock around the clock
8) little sister
9) ????
Here is what I said about this poster on May 20, 2017:
“(pssssst – don’t tell that meme shaming perkyyou-know-who, but my favorite parts were matacleo’s daring pasties, risque flash of bellybutton and …… (wait for it) …… PURPLIE* eyelids) * !!!
P.S. Chester’s tail armor ain’t bad either.”
Dozed off early last night.
Cleo is great as Mata Hairy! If she batted those purplie eyelids at me, I would surely tell her all my secrets! And those lips (swoon)!
And I had this one saved, Stel….
Susan,

BTDT…
My Favorite Part™ was Garbo playing the air guitar.
Or sitar?
OMG!!! Laughing out loud funny!! I never saw that until you pointed it out!

… I leave it to you to set them up your way.
This is a little old. I’m sure someone has gone deeper since then. https://youtu.be/aSg2Db3jF_4
Thanks for posting that one, as well. They’re very hypnotic.

Amazing! Never saw one before.
In case others are confused (like I was), just to clarify, Mata Machree was a character in Million Dollar Legs (1932), played by Lyda Roberti.
Thanks, Tigressy. I had never heard of her OR the movie.
One of Fields’ best movies imo.
Wow… Mata Hari!
Greta Garbone looks so beautiful!
Those lovely gossamer wisps of costume… along with complicated metallic parts, paved with gems…
…. a tour de force, Stel… for both (cough) the costume designer and for you!
My goodness… her come-hither lowered lids… with that special purplie eyeshadow….
oooh…. she’s a true femme fatale…. one of the most famous ever,
…
And Ramon Nov-arrooo… oooooo…… ooooooooo….
(um… excuse me.)
Yes, I know he was a dog…..
and way before my time, thank-you-very-much….
But what a heartthrob.
Can I take him for a walk?
…
The humans couldn’t seem to get a handle … or would that be a leash?… on copying your poster for a human version.
Neither of the ones you uploaded incorporates all your detail.
…
I guess your design is just too complex for their lesser talents to follow….
I hope you don’t mind my having posted yet another failed attempt to steal your artistry.
You’re too kind, Susan! Thank you!
Garbo had to be great to wear the pagoda hat without a trace of self-consciousness.
LOL Agreed!!
Very fun. I had never seen, or even heard of, the McCartney clip.
Nor had I. It was pretty good!
…
Rethink number 6
I did earlier.
I got the first one wrong; I think your answer is right.
If I may ask, what do you mean by “add the genres next time” ?
I don’t know about the printable ones, but the other puzzles on that site have a hint – like “movies”, “geography”, “sayings” and the like. Makes it easier. Not much, but… 😉

thanks for the explanation.

I agree that your #6 would be the accepted one.
#5 – your second answer is too far-fetched for that quiz imho. But who knows.

oh , no need to hide it!
Oh, please, the both of you………PUH-LEEEZE hide it!
I did.
Chester? His name is Chester ???? Now, he’s not anywhere near as mysterious as I thought….
Tim Horn
great artwork!
,…
A short article I found….
…here…
…goes with nighthawks’ “JAMA” cover post above.
Thanks!
I’d love to know just how many Nighthawks parodies exist!
tons
That narrows it down! LOL
Good morning Balladeers, ((((( Plods))))) and Miss Susan.
“Greta Garbone” …… LOVE IT!
Thanks, Dry!
Interesting story there about Mata Hari. Shouldn’t the poster have been for Mata Hairy?
Yes. You’re absolutely right!
Wow! As usual, Stel has ‘out did’ herself with today’s poster! Hubba hubba!
I have to come back later and play all the videos and games. Looks like fun.
Thanks for saying so, ML!!
I hope you’re ok, Plods…
.,,.

Dish Sink JENGA!
I blame it on the cheese soufflé.
It’s your relatives’ kitchen anyway.
What are you doing posting a photo of my kitchen???
Wow…..that was some party!
Anybody notice the dishwasher right there? Obviously the human one is missing, but the electric one is there……just needs loading.
Ohhhh……OK. That’s the really hard part, isn’t it?
Yes. And – yes.
#unloading
And now for a short public service announcement.
Dozed off early last night.
Cleo is great as Mata Hairy! If she batted those purplie eyelids at me, I would surely tell her all my secrets! And those lips (swoon)!
I really did miss a good opportunity for the title, didn’t I?
What does a pussycat have to do with it?
nuthin’……not a gosh-darned thing!
I just happened to come across that song and remembered I used to like a thousand years ago, back in the 60’s.
Made you wonder, huh?
