Nor is the lady they’re carrying only 40 years older than the young mother.
She looks well into her 80s… that’s even a bit old to be their grandmother, though she could be…. She’d be the mother of the the woman on the left, who would be maybe 62-ish in 2020.
But there’s still no way the soldiers are 42.
Maybe one of those toddlers could be the father of these soldiers… And the lady is their great grandmother.
He’s the real thing, even if the video fudged a bit.
Dude had his own YouTube channel.
Otto wasn’t the only dog to figure out how to ride.
It’s worth a dive into YouTube just to watch some of them. 🙂
It’s a famous picture… I recognise it.
No AI or Photoshop involved.
It’s actually a selfie!
It was taken by a Celebes macaque, in Indonesia, who was fooling around with some equipment set up by a wildlife photographer.
It’s doubtful that he knew how to use a camera, but he somehow took some pictures of himself and other macaques.
I believe the photographer only found the images when developing the film… but he published them in newspapers and I think a book.
Somehow PETA got into the act and sued on behalf of the monkey, saying the copyright, and any money earned from his pictures should belong to him, and used for the care of macaques on the preserve.
There was a lot of back and forth in the courts and the US patent office over whether an animal could own a copyright.
I think the final decision was that he couldn’t… I’m too sleepy to look it up.
Thank you for your help. I was not able to find this sweet black cat lurking between the branches with those bernsteinfarbigen eyes.
OTH – Do you remember Virginia Moar, she once was a subscriber, commented and answered at GoComics like we did when the times with GoComics were good times, you know the time with Linda and all the other friends – many have changed their names now or were getting only numbers.
The reason why I ask is: I sent Virginia at Facebook birthday greetings, but I didn’t know she had passed away in 2022… Isn’t this sad? Now we are asking – the Ten-Cats-Friends at Facebook (we are a private group there) who she was with her nickname… Barry, can you help?
Maybe Leslie – happyhappyhappy?
Sorry to ask here at Cleoandcompany. But all you other friends here.. all you dear good friends here, to mention two of you, Susan, Nighthawk: Maybe you can help too?
In fact, I don’t know whether you mean she was Virginia on the comics, and you want to know her real name, or Virginia on Facebook, and you want to know her user name on GoComics.
The latter seems more likely… but nothing comes up either way in my brain.
I used to sometimes read the Ten Cats comments, so I recognize most of the names, but not the real names behind them.
I remember Virginia Davies (Vidazzle) but not Virginia Moar.
Sorry Marge, I didn’t know we’d lost another soul, and I’m afraid I don’t know her username on GC. I’ve checked the list of names that we produced several years ago and she’s not on it I’m afraid.
Thank you, Barry, for your help. I also cannot remember her username. Maybe we should update that list one day. Oh, how I wish, we all could get to know better but there is the anonymity and I also understand that some of them do not want to tell their personal things.
Thank you very much for your note, nighthawks!
What I told More_Cats_Than_Sense about getting acquainted: I only know you as nighthawks, not knowing if a male or female one and how many you are. As a woman, I like to assume that you are male. But I do not know…
Another good history lesson by Pete Beard.
Thanks.

The George Thorogood clip really got good when he brought on his special guest. I will not reveal who that is here. About four minutes in, out of eleven total.
For those of you who, like me missed the name.
After some searching around on the ‘net I came up with….
…Elvin “bad-boy” Bishop.
Listed on the ‘net as his biggest hit…

This Cleo toon does not look familiar to me, and it is unsigned. Could this have been a work-in-progress? Could it have involved StelBel? I can’t say why, but I felt her influence as I read it over.
StelBel might have come up with some ideas about it, but physically, she doesn’t draw cartoons.
She alters images, though she can’t right now….usually photos and paintings, like the movie posters. Her role in the animations is in the assembly and timing of the frames, not drawing them.
Charlie Rouse, one of London’s last night watchman armed with rattle, tucked beneath his sash, truncheon, cutlass strapped to his waist, and carrying the traditional lantern, standing outside his post on the Brixton Road, London in 1850.
I kinda thought so… But I was embarrassed not to know for sure.
Here are times I saw bits of things before completion… Not many, but it happened.
And I can’t believe I didn’t save it, which I usually do with strips I like… But maybe i saved it to the wrong folder, or it was posted when I was having Internet problems, or some sort of crisis.
.
Not buying it…
Nope.
I wish it was. It’s kinda cute.
He apparently doesn’t know whether he’s an insect or an amphibian.
..
,
Don’t think I know if I know what half of those apps are (supposed to be) good for.
.,
..
Perfect…
Looked at the first picture, thought something didn’t look right about it, then I saw the name on the prow….
The second picture confirmed the film.
.
Not buying it. No way are those young soldiers forty years older than those toddlers.
Yeah, they’re at most, half that.
Nor is the lady they’re carrying only 40 years older than the young mother.

More likely, the photos are unrelated.

Still don’t believe it!

Not buying the smile on this ape either.

Still an odd name for a cat.
Especially a ‘Void’ 😉
Didn’t find her last time. Still can’t see her.
Thank you for your help. I was not able to find this sweet black cat lurking between the branches with those bernsteinfarbigen eyes.

Susan, thank you for your help – that’s her real name… I looked for her nickname because I really can’t remember her nickname. What a pity.

Nighthawks is definitely male.
I don’t reveal people’s actual names without permission… But I can tell you that he’s just one person.
I’m Susan IRL and I think you’re probably Marge 😁
But some people are sensitive about it, just like some people would never tell me their birthdays when we were doing parties.
Some tell us exactly where they live; some won’t…
I probably tell too much, but so far, no problem.

“Guess the magic woid and get thrown back to the Main Page!”
Been there. Done that. Confirmed.
I don’t know what you guys mean happened here

Discworld has “The Octarine Grass Country” — probably looks a bit like this…
But that specific color isn’t supposed to be visible to the average human…
That’s lavender on the right.

This artwork would be all Nighthawks’.

Today’s strip is great!
I’m embarrassed to ask .. but have we seen it before?
I remember the “Dynasty” pun… from somewhere…. but was it from this strip?
In any case the character art is fantastic!
thank yew! I wouldn’t call it an oldie—but I’ve posted it before
So I wasn’t hallucinating!
Love the artwork, too.
Found-it looks hot!
Hot? You go for the Mongolian basset hound type?
Or just emperors on horseback? 😁
The former.
His human counterpart has the most descendants in history; most of us carry some of his genes.

I’m saving it now, for sure!
