Somebody needs to learn the difference between “famous” and “infamous.”

It’s constant on the Internet.

So many people misunderstand certain words as positive that were meant to be negative, that over time, they’ve changed to sometimes or always having a positive meaning….

I.e. “Fulsome” means, or used to mean, at worst, gross, smelly, or rotten… or in other contexts overblown, insincere, like fulsome praise. Nowadays I see it used to mean full or abundant.

“A gourmand” used to mean a glutton. Even food writers now use it as an adjective to mean gourmet.

I just avoid using those words cos they’re still negative to me.

I hope that doesn’t happen to “infamous.”

….

Unrelated to positive/negative but another cringy Internet usage….

I’ve seen a lot of posts on YouTube and a few other sites where people said “Wallah!” before a conclusion or a reply.

Couldn’t figure it out till i realized (I’m trying not to say “to my horror” cos I try not to be critical..😁)

They mean “voila!”

Wow! I think I’ve been using all of those words wrong! (Except I did recognize “wallah” could be a pejorative) Thank you.

I’m not sure whether I should say thanks, you’re welcome, or sorry for coming off as pedantic 😁

Yeah, that’s done so much it’s almost annoyingly standard now.

Even worse is “hugh” for “huge”. I honestly didn’t know what it meant the first time I saw someone say something about a hugh diamond.

Loved it when we used to ride with Grandma and Grandpa in their old Plymouth and get stopped by a train. It always felt like we were moving and the train was sitting still. Fun times, at probably 5 to 7 years old. They kept sugar cubes for us, too. Yeah, we were spoiled in the best possible ways.

Loved the book….didn’t like that they turned it into sort of a horror movie.

Sorry MC… I don’t remember mushrooms. But it was a long time ago.

Not much to go on.

I’m guessing…

3 is the only mono colored one… and 4 is upside down…(also black, but then others are blue, so that probably doesn’t matter.)

More_Cats_Than_Sense

I would say:
#4. As it’s the only one upside down.

The fact that I thought one of them must be, to be the odd one, even before I saw it probably means I need more sleep. And I only woke up two hours ago.

I said the same…

but….
I guessed #3 as well l, only because the question says “kisses“, and that seemed my best shot at a plural answer.

The answer from the ‘Reader’s Digest’ site.
We were not given all the clues in nighthawks’ posting (they’re in the box too).

BRAINSNACK
Which two lipstick kiss marks do not belong—knowing that the woman only had four lipsticks of different colors?
Answer: Kisses number four and seven do not belong with the rest. She has only blue, green, red and pink lipsticks.

Great.

Somehow it’s just not the same when nobody tells you what you’re looking for.

I think we did okay, for doing it without instructions. Our answers still work, on a different basis.

BUT…. For future reference…

It would have been more helpful had you left the clues OUT of the spoiler box, so we could solve it before we clicked to see the answer.

I’m missing something.

First I thought that arm belonged to the guy walking in front, but it doesn’t.

Infini love is a branded cut of diamond, but I don’t know if that’s what’s being advertised here.

Are we looking at disconnected robot parts?

Yeah…. I did say I realized it wasn’t his. Pretty immediately, in fact.

It was just my first impression, one momentary step in trying to figure out the point of this picture.

If it were more clear maybe we could tell if that’s a diamond advertisement, but it still wouldn’t explain the image.

When I started work, and had to climb poles and transmission towers, I was told not to worry about being high up, as once you’re above about 30′, anything higher than that doesn’t really matter as 30′ is high enough to kill you.

About ten years ago we lost a linesman to a fall, he fell out of the bucket of a hoist (Bucket Truck) when the bucket was parked on the vehicle (So his feet would have been approximately 6′ above ground level). He slipped getting out of the bucket and landed on his head on the kerbstone at the side of the road.

It’s not the height above ground that will get you, it’s the sudden stop at the bottom.
