And register the chip! My Cookie was found as a stray. Collar with no tags. Chip was not registered. It was registered to me before we left the shelter. She has a collar with a tag that has 2 phone numbers for me.
Hi DB and Happy3, how are you doing? Isn’t life great? Sure beats the alternative! Found out that my grandson (8 years old) is starting baseball. His dad is ecstatic. I’m sure a few more people here will respond to you as well. Enjoy!
I thought for a moment that it was a real person who’d endured hours of special make-up… But I soon realized it couldn’t be, with those eyes.
It wasn’t till then that I noticed that it’s tiny… Only a face, not a whole head, being held between someone’s thumb and forefinger.
The file name says it’s a sculpture….
Google says “This intricate artwork is a micro-mosaic sculpture created by Italian artist Rebecca Di Filippo, depicting a human face using hundreds of tiny, iridescent sea shell fragments.”
Pretty amazing… Its gaze seems to shift as it’s moved.
Yes… And many of them joined and divided and reassembled and split again….
Some of these names were used for tiny segments of the current nations, others were for vast areas that once encompassed some of today’s separate nations.
Still, there’s probably some historical basis for all of them
This is as close as we’re gonna get with a Saturday puzzle, and we’re creatures of habit around here.
No Tuesday “Find the Differences” puzzles…. even if Cinco is coincidentally Taco Tuesday this year!
I thought this one looked daunting, but IMHO it’s actually not subtle.
I do recommend a right click to open it in a new window, or preferably a download, to enlarge it a bit… On a tablet or phone, two fingers to stretch it.
The wide format makes it look smaller… but everything is pretty visible anyway…. And it’s got the normal nine, not a diabolical ten differences.
You’re probably right that it’s Alan Thicke, even though the face I’m picturing isn’t his. Thicke has a rather delicate face compared to the drawing or to the actor I’m thinking of…
But I can see that it could be him, too, and it makes more sense, because of “Growing Pains.”
I still think the blonde is Vanna, because I “saw” her right away… But who knows. It’s a fairly generic face that could be either of them.
The person next to Dr. Ruth has kicked off her shoes. I don’t know any anecdote about Vanna doing that… But if there is one, I’ll change my mind. Or maybe somebody else is known for kicking off her shoes on the Dr. Ruth Show, so we’re supposed to recognize her.
It all surprises me, because Mort Drucker was a great caricaturist, and his subjects are usually recognizable.

Wow….he hasn’t moved a muscle since yesterday…..
(Sorry)
Still sleeping, eh? Must be shagged out from chasing squirrels.
Best pic we’ve had for this dog haiku:

You can bet that was one happy pooch. He probably thought he had hit the lottery.
As far as I can tell, dogs see what IS.
They’re very pragmatic.
They do long for things… food, certain people, a run in the park…. but AFAIK, they don’t understand luck.
It’s too abstract, comparing possible outcomes, or mulling future scenarios, like what they’ll do IF something happens.
I’m sure he was wildly happy, but it probably never occured to him, once he found them, to picture any other ways it could have gone.
Oh, when we love them, we anthropormormise the heck out of them. Is that a regular word, or did I just make a new one up?
Very true.
So maybe in our minds they buy lotto tickets.
As for the word… Nothing wrong with making up words… some days it’s the only exercise I get.
That one, though, is very very close to a real one… except for a teensy weensy glitch.
S’OK.
The word you are looking for is “anthropomorphize.”
Thanks. It was right on the tip of my…now what was that word?
MICROCHIP them!
And register the chip! My Cookie was found as a stray. Collar with no tags. Chip was not registered. It was registered to me before we left the shelter. She has a collar with a tag that has 2 phone numbers for me.
Hope it’s a true story.

You may already know
If you don’t… It’s also in the filename.
I Googled it, though, to find out the occasion… But all I could find was that it was 1981.
On one site, there was text on the image, saying they were together to celebrate “the 200th episo…” And it cut off right there.
I couldn’t think what it might be… But the 200th episode of SNL was much later, with a later cast, and not many other shows seem to fit this group.
So it’s probably not even true.

Reminds me of Disney’s first Fantasia (1949?), with the sprites touching each leaf and blossom with dew.

You too!
And everybody else, of course.

Cats don’t walk like that, they move opposite diagonal legs together.

Must be the wall of the cardiac ICU.
Entrance to the morgue?
Just a cheerful little Christmas decoration….

Does posting comments count as “Social Connection”? If not, I’m in trouble…I’m pretty much a hermit.
Recluse here.
Me three.
Didn’t mean to leave you out, you just posted after I did. Happy Friday (at the moment). Always glad to see you here.
Thanks, and likewise.

Maybe how astronauts would sleep as well, given lots of room around them.
Saturday mornings
Yep!
That’s when we also watched Rin Tin Tin, Lassie, and Sgt Preston of the Yukon.
That’s some DRY skin! Looks like she needs a LOT of hydration!

Oh sure, but I’ll bet they had lots of different names before the little guys were conquered and consolidated.

And no, I didn’t do the modification…

Thanks Susan.
They were a bit easier today, with no “watch out for diabolical masterminds” required.
