Imagine that being the epicenter of a volcanic eruption so vast that it exceeds the sum total of the next four eruptions listed after it by nearly ten times.

When, as I scroll my way down through this Cleo & Co. comic, i come upon the word “expectation,” I know that I am going to subsequently see “reality.” Then when I see next that it is Taco Bell, I realize that this is going to be reality at its most raw. Then the image materializes, and I realize that we have achieved another level entirely. We are in a subterranean culture now, where sunlight is never seen.
About 10 or 15 years ago, I tried something called nachos bell grande at Taco Bell… I don’t know if that’s what this picture is supposed to be, cos it’s way smaller than either of these, and all the toppings were piled in the center.
It was their biggest nacho item… maybe $4… way too salty, but there was lots of meat, shredded cheese, guacamole, and sour cream.
IIRC I actually had it a couple more times, over a few years.
But I don’t eat much fast food…
About a year and a half ago, I went with a friend to Taco Bell, so I ordered it again…
It was similar to the 2nd picture, though I don’t remember any fresh salsa. A tablespoon or two of meat, a dab of guacamole…. And about $8.
And fast food companies are crying about low sales, and closing restaurants.
I’ve known a couple of people very well who have… I dunno what to call it… I hate to say a disorder… but their brains can’t see or comprehend color mixing.
They have no clue that, say, red and blue are going to make purple, or why you would say one purple shade is more red and another more blue. Or what happens if you add white.
As a visual thinker who is unable to NOT see it, that’s hard for me to understand.
One was a young woman I tried to tutor in beauty school. She was failing, and I was asked to help her.
You have to understand mixing to be successful at haircoloring… how to tone down a brassy blonde, mix the right shade of brown, etc. I went as slowly as I could, patiently, with lots of in-between steps, but she absolutely couldn’t follow.
She had other difficulties with visual perception… IE, she couldn’t tell clockwise from counterclockwise, or judge angles.
This looks almost 3D… like he’s about to step towards us, out of the frame.
Might be because if the focus — so sharp in front, and soft behind– giving it depth.
I’m thinking it might be a wild horse from afar, shot with a telephoto lens.
.
If I fits…
Kiki! 😀 I love my pocket panther.
I’m keeping my eyes open for a calico kitten.
Too shallow for stairs, not flat enough for a wall… what is it?
Retaining wall? Many are sloped.
Looks like a roof top.
He looks like my Jasper.
..
…
See that at #3? Long valley is just north of where i grew up.

Imagine a bird that big hanging around your neck.
That is a remarkably well-trained puppy as well as an incredibly cute one.
He’s so young to have learned that!
Wriggling with anticipation, but still holding back… what a good boy!
Most people don’t even start training pups at that age.
Makes me wonder whether it’s instinct, not taught.
Which end is up?
I fear for the US.
That thing isn’t a proper taco anyway.
It amazes me that outside the West Coast and the southwest, an arc, say, from Washington to Texas, people seem to think it is.
(Not sure about BC.)
Even people cooking on YouTube buy “taco shells” in boxes.
Looks like what we call “tacos” in BC…
This is another Taco Bell moment, isn’t it.
Yup.
Says so on the cup, and on what looks like an employment ad.
This cute animal is a Tibetan fox.
Can’t compete with a Fennec…
BUNNY!
I’m looking for a calico kitten, but it needs to grow up into a cat.
Lovely baby!
Why not a bunny?
I would trust Buddy, but not so much Fawn.
She wants to chase things. Kiki told her why not to.
Not sure if a house bunny could do that.
I’ll say she is!

Have you met Roy G. Biv?
White?
Just a guess.
Feels right for some reason.
😉
The colors of the rainbow in the right order.
Oops. Green then. 🙂

There must be a name for it.

Yup…
Yup.
Cats are always loafing.
They don’t worry about earning their own dough, knowing humans will come up with the bread.
Should be an easy one 😉
In Venice promoting the movie Hud, in 1963.
OMG! JD Vance!
I was reminded of this song by today’s London “Daily Mail” (I just found out there was an English version too)…
…here it is…
…note the lyrics don’t really match.
Yeah! Nena! 🎵
I remember those “cars”, I was six/seven years old when the first cars were released. Oh, what noise they made!
I have been watching tis lady for years.
It’s good to see that she’s up and moving around.
Yes, very good news, it’s been a rough couple of years for all involved.
Wow! Thanks for posting this.
I’ve been following her too… From before the covid, when she was PhysicsGirl.
But my last peek was a few months ago, and she was still in really bad shape.
So glad she’s getting better!
I’m waiting eagerly for her next science video.
Cleo runs a tight race.
