He’s adorable, and all…

But I have to remind you that he’s surely under 40 pounds.

That means he should ride in a 5-point harness, in a properly installed rear-facing car seat.

“Cherries in Bloom” … Japan, 1983...taken by 20th-century French photographer Edouard Boubat, described as a photo-journalist, but known for images that are more art photography than journalism.

Apparently, this is not fake, but a regular occurrence on Maho Beach, near Princess Juliana International Airport, on the Caribbean island of Saint Martin…

The description said the high camera angle makes the plane look closer to the beachgoers than it is…. It’s actually “a few metres” above their heads.

Which is still a few hundred meters too close for my taste…. but you go have fun. I’ll stay here.

Before the new airport for Munich was opened, airplanes flew pretty close above our property. Every f… couple of minutes.

The downtown airport in Kansas City sits at the confluence of two rivers with bluffs on a couple of sides. If the wind was in the wrong direction, Take-off could involve a rather steep climb.
Dad would take us to the hotel at the top of the bluff to sit on the stone wall and watch the planes ruffle our hair.

On the left is Tom Hanks’ younger brother Jim.

During the filming of Forrest Gump, the production was over budget, so filming was split, and scenes without the star were filmed at the same time, in different places.

The producers thought they could find a stunt double to do the long distance running scenes… but Forrest had a particular gait that didn’t look right when a double did it.

They finally found that his real life brother, Jim Hanks, could imitate his run, and looked so much like him that at a distance, you didn’t notice the substitution.

Jim ended up being used in a lot of long distance shots of Forrest in the movie.

On the right

is…

Oh, come on! Gimme a break.

I had no idea from the young picture…

In fact I’m still having a hard time believing from the totally recognizable adult image that

this is really…
Ringo Starr!

I looked for some other pictures… even as a little boy he looked more like his adult self than this.

But there was a resemblance, so I do think this is him…. and that

maybe it’s hard to tell cos…

This is taken from an angle where you can’t really see his nose, which is his most recognized!izable creature.

Not fair that that they apparently cropped their tails out of the picture!

Or… maybe they didn’t, I suppose… and the name is a misnomer?

Aha! I just had to search them.
The tails are indeed cropped out of the picture.

They each have two very long and very thin red “streamer” feathers… which distinguish them from white-tailed Tropic birds.

It sounds like something from Lewis Carroll, or maybe Gilbert and Sullivan.. or Star Trek.
