Looks the same at first glance, but I opened the .tif in a separate tab. No; not better (larger) at all – except for the file size. 😉
Laptop with large screen, Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, Firefox 88.0 (64-bit)
Same with Chromium “Version 90.0.4430.72 (Official Build) Built on Ubuntu , running on Ubuntu 16.04 (64-Bit)”

Oh – and I got them all.

The pair above the login are larger. The pair below the login are about 2/3 the size of the upper ones. Still very usable on a 27″ (diagonal) screen.

PC, Firefox, Win 7 Pro.

Nighthawks… I’m on a PC, as you know… and I only see the .png here in the forum.

But underneath it, between the image and your text, is what looks like a little title card or label…

you can actually see it in Alexi’s screenshot… it says “FTDIndyPoster“.

….

It looks like it’s just text…

clicking it does nothing, mousing over it doesn’t make my cursor change to a hand, nor does it give any other indication of being a link.

However…RIGHT-clicking it opens a menu, including “save image” and “open image in Windows Photo Viewer“…

That image will be the .tif.

I still couldn’t see it in the forum, but I could get to it that way.

It has been given the filename FTDIndyPoster-p7nrdlr25r9vn6zmqg4kxdup29wez6lhxpstsdkpto.tif

There’s no particular benefit to it…. resolution is still limited by my screen resolution.

MUCH easier just to use the .png.

To anybody not snoring after that description to Nighthawks…

Yes, sniffle, I am no longer employed as a side-by-side puzzle maker by “Cleo and Company Productions”…. although I have offered to work occasionally if needed.

I do, however, still hold the related position of Solution Provider…
so as far as I know, I will still get about half my previous salary.

But if it was hard to survive on $0000.00, it’ll be even harder on …gulp… only half that…

sob …

but I believe I will still be able to use my prestige parking spot on the C.C.P. lot, which helps a bit to reduce the sting.

Please tell all cartoonists of your acquaintance that … sigh… I am available to others who may need to employ a fully trained side-by-side puzzle maker.

Thanks for your concern.

Oh… the solution.

You want the solution.

Well, with no further ado… because IMHO, there’s been quite enough ado already, and even a modicum of adieu….

Here’s today’s solution:

But still no peeking, please, before you try hard!

OK, I stopped looking at 9. But there are 10 today.

10th
Next to the added 3rd hourglass leg, there is a pile of sand at the bottom of the hourglass, but only in the second version.

I did (even a few days ago), but thought it was part of the hour glass.

I did, yea I’m vindicated and still only missed one, maybe, I counted the space at the bottom as one where the date changed, so my nine is different as the correct nine, as usual!

Hmm…
I, too, took it as a difference, until I found the “other ninth one”, and then I thought it was part of the hourglass…
I agree, there may be a tenth one…

NoI actually saw it… But I counted it as part of the same difference ….

I may be wrong but….
I thought those cylindrical brown things were partial reflections of the legs, or spindles… Just on the vertical bottom of the glass wall.

Perhaps incorrectly, I didn’t take them for sand.

The middle leg was gone, so its reflection went with it… the left and right ones are still there….

Maybe sand, but maybe small reflections of the remaining legs.

OMG…. It never occurred to me they would have allowed it in the first place….

What kind of crazy is that??!

Making it, allowing it or sitting on it …. all three decisions seem obviously insane.

When you see other crowded events, where people arrive hours ahead for a coveted viewing spot…

The Rose Parade comes to mind…. even our local parades and July 4th fireworks displays….

But especially ticketed events like football games and Indy

who would ever think you could or should bring in your own flimsy 6-or-7 “story” structure, and invite a couple dozen people to sit on its kite-stick legs?

Yikes!

….

It fell down… what a surprise…..

The following quote….

…”How many cars race in the Indy 500?

The entry list is capped at 33 cars for the Indy 500. The 33-car limit was originally devised in 1911, and was calculated by determining that a safe distance between equally-spread cars would be 400 feet – thereby allowing 33 cars on the 2.5-mile track. This figure has only changed twice since 1934, as 35 cars started both the 1979 and 1997 editions.”…..

….comes from…. …here.

Um…. that’s considered a slur nowadays.

It refers to the native practice of giving gifts to early settlers, and expecting better gifts in return…

The colonists were used to the European idea of gifts being for the recipient to keep.

Native culture embraced property as temporary.

I give you a gift, you give me something better… I bring you something better still. The best gift giver has the most status.

Some things were always passed along at the next event… smoking pipes, drinking vessels,

sent home with an honored guest, and expected to be given to that person’s next important guest.

..

Coastal cultures especially, had Potlatch… an event for giving lavish gifts, to show off one’s wealth and generosity.

Those who could held their own potlatch, and gave away some of the same belongings.

Settlers would take things to keep forever… misunderstanding the ill will that followed.

So way back… I think in the18th century… “white” settlers invented the phrase “Indian giver” to mean someone who took back gifts.

It was meant to be insulting, because they didn’t understand the original intent.

Today it’s considered very offensive by Native Americans…. and Canadian First Peoples too, of course.

I use a MiniMAC with a 23” diagonal screen. Using Safari.
I’m here somewhat later in the morning (almost 9:30 AM MDT Saturday). I see both posters, the top one being smaller, the lower one being larger. I saved both to my hard drive; only difference there is that the upper one was saved as a PNG and the lower one was saved as a TIFF, and the different sizes. Like Tigressy, I too opened both “using a new tab”, no difference except for how it fit on my screen, the upper one was smaller, the lower one was larger. Whether on-line here at C&C or “in a new tab”, or if from the hard-drive, all are about the same in clarity and detail. For me, I open and solve the puzzle using the onboard MAC “Preview” program, so it won’t make a difference there, it only allows me to fit to the screen (as far as I have been able to).
Now, off to solve the puzzle!
