Is it just my computer doing this or is it the WordPress programming?
I wasn’t going to post this until tomorrow (Monday that is.) but JP Steve ‘s comment has six likes and the below is happening to me here, too.
I’ve put an attachment below to illustrate what I’m asking.
When there are 6 or more people liking and/or disliking a comment, we cannot see the bottom of the list.
My problem is that it is only once in a while that I can move my cursor onto the list box because the vast majority of the time, as soon as I move to do so, the list disappears.
Is anyone else noticing this happening?
Yes,both are screen shots.
All my multiple shots I take first to my “Picture” folder and then transfer them to a 22″ width by 21″ height Word document in landscape mode (that is a weirdness needed by Word).
After the Word document is arranged to my satisfaction (or acceptability at least), one more screen shot to “Picture” and the attachment is ready for use.
This is apparently home movie footage of the 1960 scaffold disaster.
It is silent (somebody did a tasteless sound dub later).
If we didn’t already know only two people died our guesses, if we were morbid enough to make them, would be much higher than that.
If you watch it, you won’t like it, but you’ll have your emotions touched.

This is just one of the cutest posters! Another favorite!
I’m a little uncertain here.
If you mean a direct reply to Stelbel’s and nighthawks’ “Turbo — Basset” poster above, you cannot make a comment as a direct reply to it other than through this forum.
I don’t mean to sound terse, but as I said I’m uncertain as to what you mean.
Hey, you let me experiment with the “dislike” button so I’m happy to return the favour. 😎
It’s just that my comment looks more like it is about your video than the poster. The comments get kind of jumbled. Nothing that is your fault ~ it’s just the placement of the comment, depending on the time the comment was made.
The cartoon or poster on top of the page, plus any images or videos posted with it…
or, really, anything Nighthawks or Stel put above the comments, is what WordPress considers to be the actual “blog post.”
…
Every comment that is not a reply to another comment is considered to be a reply to the original “blog post”.
…even if it completely changes the subject by posting a video, or an image, or is about something totally different.
They’re the comments farthest to the left, and in a slightly bigger font… and that don’t say “reply. (to somebody)”
They’re not jumbled.
….
They’re all in order, from the first one made to the last….
There can’t be a separate section on top, that stays close to the comic or poster, for the ones that didn’t change the subject,
cos the computer just lines them up, it doesn’t know what they’re about.
Sometimes I wish there could be, cos I comment about the poster or comic after other people put in a pile of other stuff.
…
Replies to other comments, meanwhile, are indented beneath them, with a faint line down
their left sides, and in a smaller font.
They often look like they. were made long before some much earlier direct comments to the blog post, because they show up directly under whatever they’re replying to.
….
So we can tell your comment is about the blog post, if not necessarily which item in it, because it’s way over on the left, not indented, and the font is bigger.
It’s the next comment after Alexi, but obviously not a reply to it.
If you get used to looking at the comments that way, it becomes easier to see the structure…. I hope!
..
Cos my own comment about the poster is way down past yours… past this…. and past a whole lot of other stuff…
But I’m hoping people can still tell it’s about the poster!
Thanks. I kinda get that. It’s just that my perky little comment was right after that post of people dying. I was hoping no one thought my post was about that.
I couldn’t find a link anywhere to “Turbo — Basset,” but I did find a link to the inferior made by humans, “Turbo.”
There is a scene in the film (computer animation?) where while they didn’t exactly rip-off the “chicky-run” scene from “Rebel Without a Cause” (Stelbel?), but they were very definitely inspired by it.
Click only on the closure “X”s until the film starts, then go full screen, again clicking out the “X”s as necessary.
I used to collect them for the Invertebrate Biology class. Never got tired of watching them marching along between the Paramecia and Rotifers! (Don’t recall ever seeing Mr.Thalweg though…)
Something a little more cheerful that my last post.
Spike Jones and the “William Tell Overture” played over a horse race.
This is for those of us who do not follow automobile racing.
I’m sure I don’t have to tell you to 👂🏻 LISTEN 👂🏻 because sharp-eared people like you already know the true name of the winner.
But for those of you hearing this for the first time…
…the true name of the winner is…
…Feet’ll Bomb,
and not Beetle Balm, Beetlebaum, Beetle Bomb, or any of the other badly mangled names that have been used over the years for that poor horse.
We’re not going to watch the race until dinner time, That way we can watch it without the pesky commercials.. May the best team win. All the luck to these guys and gal.
I’m going to indulge my nasty side here and tell you, and everyone else, that the winner of the race will be the driver who drives his/her car at the fastest average speed around the course for the required number of laps. 🏎 😈
I’m also reposting a late day comment/link from yesterday, about how the field at the Indianapolis raceway came to be 33 cars.
I just found it an interesting bit of trivia. The rest of this short article has more bits of interesting trivia, also in the question/answer format.
The following quote….
…”How many cars race in the Indy 500?
The entry list is capped at 33 cars for the Indy 500. The 33-car limit was originally devised in 1911, and was calculated by determining that a safe distance between equally-spread cars would be 400 feet – thereby allowing 33 cars on the 2.5-mile track. This figure has only changed twice since 1934, as 35 cars started both the 1979 and 1997 editions.”…..
but then I noticed that it seems to be a Nighthawks and Stelbel collaboration.
..
500 miles…. do you know how far that is for a basset?
Even on wheels… it’s a test of grit, endurance and speed.
Just look at that determined expression.
Those aerodynamically tuned ears.
That sleek chassis.
And you know… the car looks pretty sleek too.
…
Just look at all those teeny tiny basset ears up in the grandstand!
What an incredible job they’ve done, painting them in!
What’s that? You can’t?
Sure you can see them… they’re at least as clear as that old photo of Nighthawks.
…
In case you wonder… yes, the snails and their toon handlers are out there with special permission….
They watch the race very carefully, still picking up ideas from the bassets for planning and setting up this year’s Gastropod Indy, which will take place next Sunday, June 6th.
Their event was sanctioned by the Basset IndyCar League because it’s a charity event, and understood to be an homage….
not anything in direct competition with the hounds.
Bassets may be slow… but snails…. well, you know.
…
Uh oh… I got an unauthorised tip saying this is the poster they plan to use:
…
Stel… Nighthawks…
I know it’s for a good cause…
but still… you may want to have a word with them about copying your work.
I’m not sure what you’re referring to… But if it’s the snails, I explained in my post.

Not in a race, but I’m in the passenger seat of the Venetian Blue Porsche 928S4 on the track at Michigan International Speedway. Did 10 laps. Steward wouldn’t let anyone do more – no crews, tires, gas, etc. LOL
It had been billed as 3 laps behind the pace car at the slowest speed to stay on the track (70mph). Instead he led us out, through one lap and then we could go! Only 105 since our tires were old. It was a blast!
They used to run a promo where someone wins a ride around the track with a legend driver in a special 2 seater. Last year they redesigned the cars and they haven’t had the promo since.
Too bad they don’t run the Basset 500 on Animal World beside the human version like they do the Puppy Bowl for that unmentionable feetsball commercial fest. Green flag @1245 ET
What an apropos National Day for our two favorite creators.
Y’all have a safe rest of your weekend. (((((HuGz!)))))
10 yr. old Nighthawks at the 1958 Indy 500!
Cute little pixel, wasn’t he…
LOL !!
Thankfully, there’s been major progress in photography since then!
Why, you can see him clear as day. There he is!!!
Is it just my computer doing this or is it the WordPress programming?
I wasn’t going to post this until tomorrow (Monday that is.) but JP Steve ‘s comment has six likes and the below is happening to me here, too.

Is anyone else noticing this happening?
I just went back – same here.
Same here.
I just tested it too… and yes.. it’s happening on my laptop too…
the list disappears if I try to click on with my mouse in order to scroll it… not sometimes. but every time.
That’s new… I’ve always been able to do that.
…
It’s a touch-screen, though… if I click, rather than hover over the number, then hold the mouse button down…
about half the time, I can put a finger on the list, with my other hand, and scroll it before it disappears.
…
And it all works fine on my Android phone… the list stays put, as usual.
it’s happened to me, too
Yup. No notifications and now this. Which one of you guys whizzed in WP’s Cheerios?? HMMMmmmm???
Same here. I my never know who those four other admirers are :'(
I’m on my tablet… so I could see the list.
I copied it into a comment, but it added long links to the avatars, so I took them out.
When I tried to post it, I got, for the first time ever, the dreaded announcement that my comment was “awaiting moderation”….
And it disappeared!
WordPress didn’t want me to do that?
I’ll try again and leave in the links.
Oh… .it showed up!
Never mind.
No wait… This is really weird…. It shows up for literally about one minute if I refresh….
Still saying awaiting moderation.
Then disappears again.
Ok… I know I’m obsessive…
But I have to figure it out…
It’s not really about showing you the list, but to get around the weirdness.
I tried two different ways to paste it, and they both disappeared as well…
So this time I pasted it into a memo app, not in a browser at all, and copied it from that, in plain text.
If you can’t see it now, WordPress really has poltergeists.

As I said, the vast majority of the time; but sometimes….
I guess yours is a screenshot, not a paste?
I didn’t go that far cos it’sa pain on my tablet… but I think my text worked.
Yes,both are screen shots.

Windows built-in (MS) Paint, IMHO, is a lot easier to deal with than Word for combining images.
No weird formatting requirements, and you can choose to resize by pixels instead of inches, so you know how it’ll post.
No need to make another screenshot…
you just save it as a png (or another image type if you prefer, but jpg compression loses details.)
The new combined image is ready to upload to postimage or whatever host you use…
It’s like all the UFO photos, blurry as heck. Now I’m doubting Nighthawks existence.
As well you should!
Snail racing? Look at that S-car go!
See, this is why I don’t come around early — no incentive to be original!
You are always original, JP Steve!!!

Sorry this came after Alexikakos video. I don’t know how to get my comment connected to the poster.

Nah – we just follow the lines on the left
Refresh before checking. That usually lines things up where they’re supposed to be for me anyway
I didn’t have the opportunity to see that one.
