An interesting looking gadget. Not too far out of the prototype or low volume stage if my experience still serves. Good for cranial and upper to mid thoracic x-rays, although the attachment of the strap retaining the head may be a problem.
It shoots its insect prey with water to knock it off a leaf and into the water… which is harder than you’d think, because it must adjust its aim due to the parabolic arc of its water stream, and to the light bending when it enters the water, so the target isn’t quite where it seems.
Some scientists use it as an example of tool use; others argue that the water stream isn’t from outside its own body, so it isn’t a tool.
What it does show is that fish exhibit learned behavior. Every archerfish is unlikely to have come up with this technique on its own
Tandoori chicken in a tomato and cream spicy sauce. ‘Invented’ in the Midlands due to the tendency for the population wanting gravy on food (Including chips (Fries)). The story goes that a cook produced a ‘gravy’ for the Tandoori chicken when asked for gravy for the dish by a customer.
Voxx is correct. However, on my monitor I notice that the fourth one in the top row and the eighth one in the second row are not exactly alike, either. Those are also unique as far as I can tell.
They’re not identical at all. I mean, yes, they’re the same colors, and have some similarity, but the top one has squarish polka dots, and the one below has large squares that almost make it a plaid.
You inspired me to play with it… and while I’m absolutely no expert, the difference doesn’t look like any loss from compression that I’ve ever seen.
My experience has been that those are created when the algorithm tries to squeeze mismatched areas together. Photos look like they’re made of shaded Legos, with no regard for the intended lines.
This looks quite deliberate, and there’s no breaking up of the lines.
True dat … but the question is which tie only appears once .. tie being singular and if it meant there was more than one it would read which ties appear only once.
A few days ago one of the music videos was Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass – I commented on the horn he was shown with. So yesterday on Youtube I found out that he’s touring again! He’s 90 years old. Ninety! Unfortunately there’s nothing near me.
I’d like to have a few of those wi-fis myself, to carry in my bag.
They’d be useful when I run into dead spots… though I have to say T-Mobile has gotten much better.
There’s still not much reception for any network in some places though… like inside Costco.
I mean, how can a person shop without being on a phone the entire time, consulting over every purchase, like the customers I see at Safeway (supermarket)? I’m surprised their batteries make it through the checkstand.
Amazon returns used to be processed at the local UPS Store. So Amazon would send QR code via email (or their app) on my phone. I’d go into the UPS Store, and have absolutely no reception. Dumb. No reception, no QR code. I ended up having to print the code and carry it in. Might as well have just sent me a return label.
I’m used to making screen shots of codes, emails, coupons… anything I might have to show to anyone, and keeping them in my photos, instead of relying on using the Internet or cell reception to open them.
I have a restaurant gift card that I “earned” in a survey, years ago, and received via email… but there was no Wi-Fi and only spotty cell service in there. They always seemed surprised that I kept it as a photo. I wondered whether they were secretly trying to avoid people using it by making it inaccessible.

Next time you’re at the grocery store check out any male you might see … he’s on the phone asking Wifey which of the 76 different cans of peas she wants.
And the women are calling Hubby to ask about steaks for the grill, brands of mustard, whether they want beer or wine… calling their friends to see whether they’ve ever bought this brand of detergent, or that kind of bread… the list goes on and on.
They’re always stopped right in front of the shelf where I’m trying to reach the xyz…

I can see it two ways… One, as a total optical illusion…
But sometimes my brain can’t accept that, and makes me see it as workmen making a sort of taco-shaped structure.
The floor curves up in back, and they’re in the process of folding the top corner down, to overhang the front one.

Poor kid.
Luckily he (?) doesn’t look too distressed.

And the kid grows up with claustrophobia…
I think maybe the opposite.
He (or she) doesn’t look perturbed or uncomfortable… so might grow up thinking such events are ordinary and inconsequential.
Unfamiliarity breeds fear.
A slew of MRIs taught me not to be claustrophobic.

A (fairly rare) blue-eyed border collie.
It doesn’t affect their vision, as some worry.
Great pup… under their happy-go-lucky exteriors, border collies are intense, hard-working dogs.

It’s an archerfish, from Australia.
It shoots its insect prey with water to knock it off a leaf and into the water… which is harder than you’d think, because it must adjust its aim due to the parabolic arc of its water stream, and to the light bending when it enters the water, so the target isn’t quite where it seems.

Boys playing cricket in a London street, taken April 25th, 1930… Couldn’t find the photographer.
The wicket is drawn on the lamppost.
I dunno whether I could feel so confident, as to stand so near the batter in an enclosed space, with a baby in my arms.

Weren’t they mostly related to each other?
Yes.

Sauce Bolognese is never eaten with spaghetti originally.
No way I’m believing that “Chicken Tika Masala” is an English dish!
It IS! I answered you about it the other day.
It’s an English take on Indian food, just like sweet chutney that comes in a jar, popular since the days of the Raj.
Both are unknown in India.

I was about to say that too…
I would venture to guess that the differences are caused by the JPEG compression algorithm, which is notorious for messing things up.
You inspired me to play with it… and while I’m absolutely no expert, the difference doesn’t look like any loss from compression that I’ve ever seen.

I just figured out how to do that on my tablet! Yay!
Yeah, I didn’t try to zoom in that close. Even the shade of blue in the interiors is lighter on the right.
So easy to zoom with two fingers on a tablet. Helps me with puzzles.
True dat … but the question is which tie only appears once .. tie being singular and if it meant there was more than one it would read which ties appear only once.
Yes… I didn’t think it could be the solution they were looking for. Just pointing out that the puzzle had errors.
It doesn’t say find three ties, but it should, because there are three. Nothing can make those light blue ones identical.
A person who selected one of those instead of the pink one, or who said there are three, would not be wrong.
Thank Dog!!!

Desert Cottontail eating prickly pear fruit, for Bunday.
Does it eat prickly pear fruit for other days as well, or just for a Sunday… I mean Bunday… treat?
I have them all over my porch. Left outside year-round. When they bloom it is a sight to behold. My close neighbors are in awe.
You have desert cottontails blooming all over your porch?
I wondered the same thing!
I’ve never seen a blooming cottontail (In both meanings of the word….) 😉

We used to have terrible reception around here…
