But if we’re going on “largest” shouldn’t the Pacific and Atlantic oceans rate a mention?

Largest “lakes”. All semantics.

Lakes are landlocked, usually freshwater, bodies of water
Oceans are not lakes because they’re saline and interconnected.

Lakes are also defined by having inland sources, and no inflow from the interconnected oceans.

Oceans have a deep sea bed, or floor… Lakes are shallower, and have a land mass underneath them, with silt and other things not found in the ocean.

AFAIK, there’s no definition for a sea.

Some people say the Caspian Sea is a lake, because it’s landlocked. Others say it’s an ocean because it’s saline, and has a sea bed, not a lake bed.

There are others they fight over but I guess they’re smaller.

Oh… The Baltic and Mediterranean seas are huge, but both have connections to the Atlantic ocean.

Kinda odd, cos at first you think it’s a signed photo of a famous cosmonaut, but it’s actually a signed photo of Helen Mirren, the actress who played her in a movie.

This is the San Francisco garter snake… I didn’t know there were any snakes named for San Francisco, but this seems like an appropriate one.

Colorful, even a bit flamboyant, but harmless.
Wikipedia says some consider it the most beautiful snake in the world.

Truth be told, it doesn’t actually live in San Francisco, but just south of there… its habitat, which is small and also shrinking, touches the southern edge of San Francisco County, but is actually in San Mateo.

Unfortunately, this pretty little snake been on the endangered list since 1967, and it’s estimated that only 1 or 2 thousand remain.

I don’t think I need a spoiler box to tell you this is Harpo Marx…

This scene, with Ben Taggart, is from Horse Feathers, in 1932.

I thought so too, but they got a late start in movies.
He was in his 40s here.

Wait… I’ll check….

Yep. Born in 1888. He was 42.

How could anyone compile such a list, especially assigning numerical ratings to them?

What does it mean, numerically, to say one person is hated a specific amount more than another, from a different century and location, with more or less population and communication.

How many people know enough about Leopold II (who was, indeed, a terrible person) to hate him so much more than, say, the more-famous-to-modern-people Charles Manson?

Some of these guys were even loved or revered in certain places or eras, like Mao, and Castro, and might still have defenders… Do they get points for that?

Mom would pass on it. I’d take hers though. I’m a fan.

My cousin would also pass on that version. She’s on a gluten free diet. So one year for the holidays I did a version that was a rice flour based crust. It didn’t turn out great…tasted fine, but the crust was beyond crunchy. I’m not a great cook, so I didn’t try again, although I’ve had other non-wheat crusts that were closer to what I’d consider normal texture.

I just don’t like a certain kind of overly sweet sticky stuff… I can’t even categorise it, cos some things come close, but I like them.

I used to dislike caramel, but now I like some of it… I think caramel apples turned me around. But I’m still disappointed if I get a caramel in the box of chocolates.

The two I can think of that everybody but me loves are pecan pie and the gooey sticky stuff on German chocolate cake….

Which BTW isn’t called that because it’s German, but because the recipe came 100+ years ago from the wrapper of German’s (brand) baking chocolate, originally German’s chocolate cake.

I’m indifferent to pecan pie – I’d take pretty much anything else if there’s a choice (except peach or banana pie…no way.) I think it’s a texture thing.

But other than that, I’m with H3 – the sweeter the better.

I’m with you and don’t care for either. Pecan pie is too sweet and I don’t like coconut that’s usually in German chocolate cake.

I only see 9 animals…
Bear, Cow, Wolf, Parrot, Rabbit, Cat, Butterfly, Snail, and whatever is beneath the rabbit. (A Mouse?) Anyone see a 10th?

Oops… I just refreshed and saw your post. I’m glad you saw the two I was questioning.

I didn’t count your ninth cos I couldn’t go as far as deciding it was something.

Tenth… No.

Could the
rabbit’s ears
be something? Perhaps a bird?

I think not.
The animals we’ve found thus far are silhouettes and sometimes exist in the “negative space” of one another. I doubt that the rabbit’s ears are two different things simultaneously. The white space where the bear’s neck and front leg meet looks vaguely frog-like to me, but all of the other animals are well defined and more or less proportional, so I’m certain that’s nothing.

Whether it not you can find 10 animals in a puzzle has absolutely nothing to do with your IQ!

And believe me when I say that my saying this has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I can only see six,

or maybe eight…
.. if the cow’s eye is either a whale or a snail, and there’s a butterfly on her horn.

My take on it
I see the same snail and butterfly. That makes nine for me.
However, the white area in front of the rabbit may be a gorilla sitting with an arm up going to the area of the bovine. That’s the only thing that may be #10 that I can see.

I see what you mean, but to me, not enough of it is there. Who knows, maybe that was the intent… if so, it didn’t quite succeed.

The animals depicted are all shown…
in the same size scale, so I see a snail rather than a whale. None of the others have “eyes” and there is no explanation for the butterfly shape on that horn other than an insect. As for number 9, there’s a thin smear of blue beneath the rabbit which cannot be part of its foot or tail, but which does help define the front leg of a small animal with an arched back.

SusanSunshine

Maybe….
The little arched animal is a weasel or a ferret… It looks more like a beaver, but if they’re in scale, it’s too small.

It would be nice if the artist had given a tiny bit of definition to the underside… But I think I could allow that an animal like that was the intent of that space.

That still only makes nine, unless you also see the ape.

Sorry for the lack of spoiler box.
under the bunny is a ducks head and the back foot of the dog is a goats head, upside down.

Umm…
Sorry… but all the other animals are comparatively sized, upright, and realistically drawn full bodies.

To me, it doesn’t make sense for one or two to be rather badly drawn cartoonish heads, especially upside down.
