The thing is, that style for teenagers lasted quite a long time.
A 1943 dress, suitable for the office, say, looks quite different from one from 1957… but sweaters and skirts and bobby socks lasted for pretty much that whole time without changing a lot.
Purposely stepped-on saddle shoes, to make them look scuffed, or penny loafers, too.
If any of them were in a dress, I could tell more definitely, as well, or were not so fashionable, dressed more like an adult.
My best guess for this group is based on their hair all being long and their skirts short…. especially that checked shirt near the window….that makes me think it’s not terribly long after the war…
but definitely after the tight finances of the early 40s, when some would be wearing cotton dresses.
The men were mostly working again and times became more prosperous as the 40s went on.
By 1950 skirts were usually mid calf, and more girls had short hair, but not in the tight waves of the early 40s.
Bobby socks had also gotten thicker than the anklets I see in front here.
My best guess from all that is sometime between 1944 and 1949…
Probably closer to the former…
though it’s not impossible for it to be the early 1950s.
Mickey was quite upset to hear that there’s a new horror version of his sweet little movie, now that his protection has expired.
I, for one, find it odd that the law only protects a person’s creativity and hard work for 95 years.
In fact before Walt fought for more time (for all artists, not just himself), it was only something like 37 years until people could freely copy or steal it.
I hope they mean the hops-scented trail that the basset hound is following, to find the pint.
And not my first thought, which is that we’re supposed to be following the odors wafting from the basset hound, his own doggy scent plus whatever he does along the trail.

I didn’t find another copy dating this as a certainty. I’ve seen in listed as the 1940’s and 1950’s. I go with the 50’s (Susan?).
