She would have been 100 years old on January 17th.
…
A film abut her life and career is still scheduled to be shown only on that day, in, as they say, “select theaters”, originally planned as a celebration of her 100th birthday…
I’d thought it was a TV special but I just looked it up, and it’s only in theaters.
Maybe eventually it’ll be on YouTube… hope so, cos I haven’t been in a theater in years, and this isn’t an ideal time to start.
NBC GETTY IMAGES 7 of 15 1963: White hosts the Tournament of Roses. By the 1960s, White was an established Hollywood star. In her late 30s, she began hosting the annual Tournament of Roses parade, which marks the start of the Rose Bowl Game. The actress went on to host the Tournament of Roses for 20 years.
from HERE dubious. I’ve also found it credited as a publicity shot to her 1952 radio show.
Too, looking at the photograph, the shadowing appears to make it a studio shot with at least two klieg lights used (look at her feet, you’ll see them).
Still a very good photograph though.
Edited upon further research at 08:44 hours E.S.T.
From Wikepedia:
Through the 1950s and 1960s, White began a nineteen-year run as hostess and commentator on the annual Rose Parade broadcast on NBC (co-hosting with Roy Neal and later Lorne Greene),
So the caption could be accurate, but I still think the shot was taken in-studio and not on the parade route.
I’m posting this in the comments because it doesn’t seem to be working at the top of the page, and I’ve already replaced it up there to try to get it to move. It may be working for some of you, but isn’t on my end, and I’ve heard from Susan that it’s not working for her, either.
Great way to start off the New Year, isn’t it?? LOL
I thought I had all nine, and didn’t look further, but on my machine one turned out to be a pixel glitch, and I missed an obvious one final tally this week 8.
As near as I can tell (left to right):
Bottom row: Sylvester—Stimpy—Simon’s Cat—Tom—Felix the Cat—Top Cat
Middlle Row: Krazy Kat—Hello Kitty—Garfield—Arlene—Lucifer

But I actually haven’t changed my avatar on Cleo and Company since the day I finally got it uploaded.
I didn’t change it on GoComics because I’m there so seldom… I stay too late on Cleo, which starts earlier.

I was one of the people who, for no apparent reason, kept getting sent in circles by WordPress, even after I figured out, before it was ever posted, that i could upload one from my own files instead of using Gravitar.
People seem to have no problem now, so maybe I should get brave and try using my seasonal avatars…
Maybe later I can …um… “find” Baby Susan, 2022 …
….
I just keep remembering the weeks before the site opened, when StelBel and I were trying to get our avatars to work, and I was stuck with a scowling pink face from WordPress.

Why’d you take down Popeye?
And you just had to start the new year earning one of these, didn’t you.

He’s strong to the finish cos he eats his spinach!
I remember watching Popeye and Wimpy on “Extreme Makeover Home Edition.”
I know! I know!!
I couldn’t figure it out! Thanks for the help.
Yup.
I found seven. I’ll try later before I look at the answers.
Boo! 😀

That is a very festive-looking basset.

What a wonderful person, she will be missed!
She was a real person never buried by the Hollywood show. I will miss her honesty and frankness.
I’m so sad about this….

RIP, Ms. White.
A friend posted a picture of the People Magazine she received in the mail yesterday. The cover features a tribute to Betty White at 100.
I’m calling this caption

My source is right in the name of the picture.
I just think it’s pretty and fitting.
And additional lighting was and is common for outside shots, too.
What amazes me is her one handing that mic.
1. make sundae
2. down the hatch

I wanna go to that party!
That is so cute!! Happy New Year!
Happy New Year to our entire C & C Family.
Goodnight.
To you as well, ML.
Happy New Year to all Cleophiles!
Oh, I do fondly remember the clock-tenders on the tower. They are a stunning sight at midnight.

Works great down here, but it has gnomes instead of bassets.
(just kidding)
Works for me, too.
Happy New Year!
Te top one isn’t woking for me either.
Too-Oh-too-too
Happy for me, happy for you
Enough of twenty twenty one
All in all, not much fun
Happy New Year, Cleophytes!
Sorry… I’ve been on the phone with StelBel…. I almost forget to post the puzzle solution!
Hope none of you have forgotten not to peek until you solve it!
When you’re ready….
Why-oh-why couldn’t the #$&%! decapitated mouse disappear instead of Hello Kitty?
Very pleased to report that I found them all again. I hope this augurs well for 2022.
I did, too. Off to a great start this year.
Me, too. Things are always easier the second time around.
I thought I had all nine, and didn’t look further, but on my machine one turned out to be a pixel glitch, and I missed an obvious one final tally this week 8.

And to those who apparently agreed….
Thanks for noticing!

So wish me luck!
Totally agree about the mouse. Only got 8 as usual ~ missed the hardest one. Love this picture, though.
I’m up to eight. I hope to find all nine before verifying.
me too, so Obvious!
🙁
I did especially bad this time.
Eight so far, try again tomorrow?
This clock, when it’s animated, is one of my favorite “Cleo and Company” postings ever…
even though of course I love the funny strips with Cleo, herself, and the series strips, like Perro, BatBasset, and Sam Basset.
…
But the clock is beautiful… I’d like to hang on my wall and watch it all year…
So do you think you could make it actually tell time, Nighthawks and Stel? I’d appreciate that.
…
Sigh… I suppose ironing out that little animation glitch would have to come first.
I don’t want to have to call you all the time, and ask you to come to my house, just to fix my clock if it stops moving.
…
Coincidentally, I also love this puzzle, and the cartoon that it came from, before you “puzzified’ it…
well, except for a couple of revolting touches, which…. sorry…. my mind kinda edits out.
I wonder what the URL of C&C will be one year from now…
Happy New Year All!
HuGz!

For those who don’t use Google as their search engine.
Happy New Year!
I love the clock. The tribute to cartoon cats is also great. I found 8 differences.
I hope you don’t mind my doing this, nighthawks.
