It would be a shame to eat it. 🙂

At least Cleo can see Mr. Serling, and has the sense to question his presence as well as his appearance. Good to see someone in the house has their wits about them.

25 – 0 Browns over Bengals end of third.
Claude will be happy.

As I posted this, Bengals score at the beginning of the fourth. 6 points (conversion failed)

Anybody remember Friday all-you-can-eat fried clam strips at Howard Johnson’s?

A fixture of my life in the 1970’s.

Hojo’s is now a distant memory.

I know there’s a debate in some parts of the country over fried whole vs. strips…

But fried clams in general are rare out here, and I don’t know whether I’ve every seen anything but strips on a menu (probably frozen, at that) … and none of those in years now.

Not the healthiest way to eat clams… but now you’ve made me want some!

Your statement about Ho Jo was complete news to me. It was never a big thing, but we ate there as a family the odd time when we lived in Connecticut.
The quote below…

Howard Johnson hotels and motels are now part of Wyndham
Hotels and Resorts. Howard Johnson’s restaurants were franchised
separately from the hotel brand beginning in 1986, but in the years
that followed, severely dwindled in number.[8] The last restaurant, in
Lake George, New York, closed in 2022. The line of branded
supermarket frozen foods, including ice cream, is no longer
manufactured.[9]

…comes from     HERE.

Well, if all this is true, I’ve been living in the Twilight Zone Years most of my life.

I don’t know whether I’ve ever seen the full light of day.

Walking through a doorway and forgetting? Check.

How about opening the refrigerator, or a cabinet door, or a closet, and forgetting why? Check.

Getting up in the night to visit the bathroom? Check.

Ever since I outgrew diapers.

I’m not sure whether I’ve ever slept through a night.

I guess that means my whole life has been a mystery.

I probably know, or once knew, the location of the ladies’ room in almost every building I’ve been in more than once or twice.

Stores, restaurants, schools, public offices… I could write a chapter in the City Guide.

Just how long is this “twilight”, anyway? Mine must have started not long after I was born.

Now, why is it I came out of that womb?
Was I looking for something?

No kidding… though I could only write the local chapter.

Oooh, there’s a thought. I’d be happy to take a sponsored world tour, to find them all, and write the international guide.

Who wants to sponsor me?

I don’t require first class lodgings, or five, or even two-star restaurants.

I’m happy to fly coach.

I won’t eat much….

Anybody?

Sadly, there is a tendency (necessary I admit) for any store or smaller mall that has public bathrooms to keep them locked until someone is asked for the key.
The necessity arises from the number of street people (and even more sadly school students on their lunch breaks) who for some reason vandalize them after using them (or maybe before).
I can almost understand the stealing of the toilet paper by, probably, the street people, but why steal both rolls of a double roll dispenser?

I even make a list on my phone…
No problem cos I take the phone to the store.

Shop, put my groceries in the car, drive away…

Takes half a mile to realise I never looked at my list.

Not even in the one nearby store where I use an app.on my phone to display their digital coupons.

One of my nieces is a quarter Mexican, her daughter, my great-niece, therefore, only an eighth, with a blond father.

Yet unlike her mother, or even her half-Mexican grandfather, she looks quite Hispanic. It’s a family mystery.

Her father, an art teacher, paints her up every Halloween in Day of the Dead make-up….

I’m not sure whether they still do it now that she’s well into her teens (where does the time go?), but at least from preschool till recent years.

I think she was 10 here…

Believe me, my niece heard plenty of jokes about that… mailman, milkman, plumber… you name it.

For some reason, she didn’t think they were particularly funny.

Her husband enjoyed them even less.

today was never celebrated as the day of the dead, but rather as ”All Saint’s Day”. november 2nd was ”All Soul’s Day.” i guess we didn’t go to church in New Orleans.

Regarding Quantum Leap 1-7 – not bad at all; but sorry, episode 3-5 of the original (“The Boogieman”) was much scarier. And better IMHO.
