Wow – some ears! Since I get my hounds from random sources (rescue, humane society, etc.) they don’t really conform to AKC breed standards. So less ears, longer legs, or other quirks. But that’s okay…I’m a bit quirky myself.
I’m sure this one is enhanced, for the sake of humor, with the note about work hours. But seriously, people used to do the rest of it all the time, back in more innocent days, like the 1950s and 60s.
Not that it wasn’t a dumb idea…. but a lot of people back then didn’t think to be suspicious.
As recently as the 80s, a then neighbor put up signs looking for her lost cat, giving her address, and saying if she wasn’t home, to please put the cat in the house through a particular unlocked window. I went over to tell her it was a bad idea. Oh.
And around 1990 or so, an elderly neighbor left me her house keys so I could water her plants… Her address was on them, on a plastic tag. Assuming she did it for me, I said, “Let’s take this off. I know where you live.”
She was shocked. She’d been carrying them like that for years. “I’ve never had a problem. I never lose my keys.”
I don’t think that last line was added. If it was, it was by an exceptionally skilled artist. The focus is accurately off, which would be expected due to depth of field issues, the curve of the text perfectly matches the curve of the paper. I think that was actually put on there by the dolt who created the flyer.
You’re right… I never thought that line was added to the picture.
I meant that the whole sign was made on the computer, as a joke, and the person enhanced it by adding that line, to make sure people got it
Looking at it again niw, I’m even more convinced of that… it’s very fresh and new, so it hasn’t been hanging around outside very long.
Of course it’s possible that somebody walked past it soon after it was posted, and took a picture, because it was funny….
Bu it seems more likely that the photo was taken immediately by the person who made the sign, in order to post it on a funny signs blog or maybe a joke forum.
Also, the sign was obviously made on a computer.
Just a guess, but I’d think anybody sophisticated enough with software to find or take that photo of modern car keys and include it, has probably been around the block a few times, and isn’t naive enough to make such a dumb sign for real.
Yes it has. The foreshore has been pushed further into the river by piling and infill to produce wharfs and docks. Not only that the many, many rivers that used to flow into the Thames have been channelled and covered to produce more usable land.
That’s happened to me more than once. The bad one was the herd of cows. We stopped in our lane because we obviously weren’t going anywhere. The ranchers just kept the herd moving down the road. But it was after breakfast, and the cows did what cows do…all over the road. My car stunk for weeks.

Wouldn’t I look great at the base of a great monument?

They forgot to mention their by then very, very hungry pit-bulls.

I would hope people are smarter than that. But you’ve never met my mom.

Not to be confused with Great Slaughter…
Remember, you can’t have great slaughter without laughter.
Where did the people go??? :o)
they were slaughtered
Great minds, as they say …
Well… it is called Great “Slaughter”.
Nope.

You have to train evil white cats when they’re young like this.
Otherwise, one day it’s your … quiche? Pie?
The next… world domination

Duck! It’s the Mandarin…
They nest in cavities in trees close to water during the spring.

Was Rod Steiger really left-handed?
Sometimes pictures on the Internet are flipped….
but if we can trust web sites that list left-handed celebrities, this picture is correct.
He’s in several such lists.
that and you can clearly see the words ‘Smith & Wesson’ not reversed on the barrel
Have you taken y…..
Never mind. Just wondering. 🙂
made you look!

Nice bridge for 120AD.
And I didn’t expect drone photography, especially such a nice, clear image.
Did the Thames get more narrow?
Yes it has. The foreshore has been pushed further into the river by piling and infill to produce wharfs and docks. Not only that the many, many rivers that used to flow into the Thames have been channelled and covered to produce more usable land.
It happens a lot to rivers in large urban areas.

What a pain when you need to walk to the grocery store, and you live at the other end.
Here’s another interesting one – America’s longest “Main Street” is in Island Park, Idaho. I’ve been there.
World’s Longest Main Street, world record in Island Park, Idaho
The USPS recognises this as well, but there are other locations who claim otherwise. I’ll let THEM duke it out.

It’s nice to finally get the correct lyrics to that song.
Groan!
Edited post as I was clearly not awake this morning!
Now I wanna know what it said before!
It said what it says now, just not in the spoiler box…….
Ruby Throated Hummingbird.
Female.
Yes. Poor thing… no rubies.
Looks like Ben Fraser…
The popup sure gets in the way of the video. Annoying.
I can’t believe our Dynamic Duo “fell” for that!
