It’s a hard Veteran’s Day for me. We have a POTUS-elect who refers to our vets as “suckers & losers”; he held a charity benefit for wounded vets, and took nearly all of the money for himself; as POTAS on a November 11th in the past, he went to France and then refused to go to the cemetery because it was raining.
I appreciate the sacrifices made protecting my safety and freedom; it hurts when those who’ve benefitted most hold the least gratitude.
I’m not going to change your mind. You will believe what you want to believe. But you might want to look at this Snopes article that essentially concludes with:
In sum, the claim stemmed from a story by The Atlantic, which relied on anonymous, secondhand reports of Trump’s alleged words; there was no independent footage or documented proof to substantiate the in-question comments; and Trump vehemently denies that he once called service members “losers” and “suckers.” While it is certainly possible that he said those things, Snopes was unable to independently verify the claim.
Just know that throughout his campaign and previous presidency, he has done more for the men and women or the armed forces than most other presidents combined in terms of improving the VA and keeping them from being killed or wounded in poorly conceived wars with no end goal.
Then take a look at his speech at the 75th D-Day anniversary and appreciate the total respect for the men and women of the armed forces who gave so much to save the world. I predict that our next fight will be on US soil against thousands of enemies who were welcomed in over the border for the purpose of sabotaging our country from within.
Sorry if the news channel below offends you, but I searched for transcripts of his speeches instead of what somebody made up about his speeches. This is what I came up with.
I heard and saw first hand live, him mocking POWs in the primaries running up to the 2016 election. I saw him mocking the Blue Star family of an immigrant who died in US service. I know that he was found guilty in a court of law of stealing funds from his Veteran’s charity. He has consistently made grandiose promises to donate large sums to veteran’s groups and has answered his promises with a few thousand dollars from a fund raiser that raised tens of thousands (nothing from his own pockets). These are all well documented, and actions speak louder than words.
Today is the Eleventh of November.

Being a Veteran, it’s one of the very many reasons I didn’t vote for him.
And thank you for serving, keeping my family and I safe.

You’re welcome to reply with alternative transcripts if you can find them.
