Oh, man! You had to post that when it is too late to pick up any of that great gooey stuff, which as a diabetic I should never eat! I guess I will have a celery stick.
I have been known to eat a celery rib or three with peanut butter. It’s not haute cuisine, but it’s reasonably healthy as long as you get the 100% peanuts stuff.
Now then, Cleo fans, we have been called out to get the Cliffords off the island! Cleo may not care, but Claude and Clara are getting hungry (and they need to pee). How deo we get them back to Cleveland?
You’re right, Alexi! It IS a fun read! I really got a kick out of this one:
MANAGEMENT PRIZE [CHINA] (奚广安) Xi Guang-An, (莫天祥) Mo Tian-Xiang, (杨康生) Yang Kang-Sheng, (杨广生) Yang Guang-Sheng, and (凌显四) Ling Xian Si, five professional hitmen in Guangxi, China, who managed a contract for a hit job (a murder performed for money) in the following way: After accepting payment to perform the murder, Xi Guang-An then instead subcontracted the task to Mo Tian-Xiang, who then instead subcontracted the task to Yang Kang-Sheng, who then instead subcontracted the task to Yang Guang-Sheng, who then instead subcontracted the task to Ling Xian-Si, with each subsequently enlisted hitman receiving a smaller percentage of the fee, and nobody actually performing a murder. REFERENCE: Numerous news reports and trial documents.
Yes, Dennis, I can send a crate full of Kielbasa to our Castaways. I’ll even send a few links of my favorites………..Jalapeño in the sausage! That’ll inspire them to fly off the island.
I have probably noticed, and perhaps even commented on previously, that Mr. Borge played a Bosendorfer piano. I love the sound of those beasts.

Love the French singer. Don’t know what the words mean, I just like the way she makes them sound. The guitar player plays beautiful fills and filigree, as well as stylish solos. I see from the links at the end that these folks are fans of Django Reinhardt, and I’m sure that starts with the guitarist.
I’m going to have to buy some yeast; I haven’t made my own bread in a while.

WHITE BREADStraight-Dough Method
Scald 1 cup milk
Stir in 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
2 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 tablespoons shortening
Cool to lukewarm.
Meantime measure into bowl 1 cup lukewarm water
Stir in 1 teaspoon sugar
Sprinkle with contents of 1 envelope Fleischmann’s Active Dry Yeast
Let stand 10 minutes. THEN stir well.
Stir in lukewarm milk mixture.
Stir in 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
Beat until smooth.
Stir in an additional 3 1/2 cups (about) sifted all-purpose flour
Turn out dough on lightly floured board or canvas. Knead until smooth and elastic.
Place in greased bowl; brush top with melted shortening. Cover. Let rise in a warm place free from draft until doubled in bulk – about 1 hour. Punch down dough, turn out on lightly floured board or canvas.
Divide in half; cover and let rest 15 minutes. Shape into loaves. Place into greased bread pans (8 1/2 × 4 1/2 inches, top inside measure).
Brush lightly with melted butter, margarine or shortening. Cover. Let rise in warm place free from draft until center is slightly higher than edge of pan – about 1 hour.
Bake in moderate oven (400° F.) 35 to 40 minutes.
Notes from me:
An envelope is 2 1/4 teaspoons of granular yeast.
If you want to know what bread actually tastes like, make this. It actually has a crunchy crust.
Thump the bread at 35 minutes. If it sounds hollow, it’s done.
A happy note:
After it has risen in the pan, no matter what its shape is (it takes some practice), the loaf will taste exactly the way it should; GOOD !!!
I recognised that logo… “Faultless” in that script is (or was?) a manufacturer of rubber goods, including, at one time, balloons and rubber toys, along with medical and healthcare devices.
It was, fairly recently, still probably the best known brand of hot water bottles and “fountain syringes.”
…
“Faultless” in block print is a brand of starch…
Two different companies, both since the 19th century.
remember the old Jack Benny line?
he’s being robbed and the robber says: “your money or your life!”
after a pause, the robber says: well?
Jack Benny: ” I’m THINKING I’m THINKING!
I’ve been trying every which way to change the font colour too. I’ve come to the conclusion that you have to do it in your control panel side of things.
I hope this gives you at least a lead.
well, that link provided a search box. If you were to type in simply cleoandcompany it takes you to what amounts to the C&C archives,

Baklava!

First recipe I came across:

Haven’t tried it (not a diabetic), so I can’t speak for the taste, but there are undoubtedly more out there.
Yes please!
Only his intellectual close friends get to call him T.C..
Top Cat!
The most effectual!
Top Cat!
Whose intellectual!
Close friends get to call him “T.C.,”
Providing it’s with dignity!
Top Cat!
The indisputable leader of the gang.
He’s the boss, he’s a VIP, he’s a championship.
He’s the most tip top,
Top Cat.
Yes, he’s the chief, he’s a king,
But above everything,
He’s the most tip top,
Top Cat!
Top Cat!
I have no idea how accurate the closed captions are in the “Pomp La Moose” video, but they’re there.
Thanks, very interesting.
The show was renamed “Boss Cat” here in the UK for some reason.
…
Good response 🙂
Hey… Great to see you here, MCTS!
Phil Silvers! Yeah I watched that.
Dancing in the 60s was so much fun! No judgments.
Pomplamousse was fun too.
And probably Joni Mitchell’s most loved song.

I recommend a deus ex machina.
Ah, a trapdoor, maybe?
A stepladder, two metal dustbins, a roll of ductape, a piece of string, a box of matches, and just a smidge over three tons of TNT 😉
Sounds like something from “The Red Green Show”.
With a big red “DO NOT PUSH” button…
Susan, you are the artistic one. Can you sketch a ketch for the Cliffords?
Montana Lady, can you send a drone with kielbasa?
I will apply for a grant to study the culture of this island. Not very promising, I admit, but dumber grants have been approved.
Whether or not they had grants, I do not know, but they definitely won prizes.
IG NOBEL PRIZE LINK
A fun read.
I always look forward to the IG NOBELs.

I remember that one. – Classy!
Loved them!
I just hope you’re safe and dry… (just seen the news on German TV)

My Sketch-A-Ketch™ was unfortunately disconnected last night.
I do have a feeling that they’ll get off that island, though.
After all, they’re Nighthawks’ bread and butter (slim as his diet must be.)
“Sketch-A-Ketch” ~ thanks for that laugh!
Water, food, shelter.
Good night people and pets. 🙂
This piece was always a showstopper at his concerts!

If you go to the YouTube link you get subtitles. Yes, she is lovely.
I get subtitles right here in the embedded video, watching on my tablet.
They’re tiny but legible.
Meanwhile, it’s a love song to another woman….
which may or may not mean anything, since singers often don’t bother changing inappropriately gendered lyrics.
….
I love the word “Pamplemousse”, which in this video seems to be the name of the group, not the song…
I think they probably chose it for the sound, not the meaning… It’s the French word for “grapefruit”.
Hey, Cleo: Why don’t you try some mournful howling?

I’m thinking she isn’t getting admired for her cap
I was wondering how many were actually looking at the cap.

Uncanny how that cheapskate cartoonist knew what My Favorite Part™ would be.
I’d reply, but I’m kinda busy right now pinching pennies.
