Tony Orlando was never a favorite, but the idea of him being in jail for 3 years warms my heart a little. The song is well done, I admit.
Linda Ronstadt always has my heart from the moment she opens her mouth.
I have seen this Travolta/Aretha video before, what ruins it for me are the repeated cuts to the feet. A couple would be okay, but it is like every 10 seconds, with nothing going on down there.
Dennis: Well, of course the Travolta video was created by a fan of that scene and song. It does go on a while, since I don’t think that they had much to work with that came from the original film, but still, I have to say that for me, it’s one of my very favorite music videos, along with the Chevy Chase/Paul Simon video of “You Can Call Me Al”, “Africa” by Toto, “Dance in the Graveyard” by Delta Rae and “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars (to give some examples off my favorites list). So, I’ve been known to watch the Travolta/Franklin video several times in a row, loving every part of it (even the repeated cuts to the feet!) and I’m not even a big fan of Travolta! There’s just something about that dance combined with that song that appeals to me.
So, thanks, NH, for posting it !!! And, Dennis, at least we agree more that we disagree! LOL

Yes. First board i ever played on was a friends, and it was his older brothers before him. All wood. I was dismayed when i bought MY first copy and they were plastic.
The ones in your picture are all wood,.even the playing pieces.
In the one Plods posted, like my childhood set, the houses and hotels are wooden but the playing pieces are the iconic pewter ones.
I remember a friend bought some commemorative anniversary edition… probably 50th, I guess… so his daughters would experience the same game he had loved, but was disappointed because the wooden pieces he’d expected were plastic.
Over the years they’ve changed the pewter ones, too. I’m sad that they’re losing the quaint look.
They recently traded either the antique looking iron or the thimble for a modern cat.
The picture of the USS Los Angeles (ZR-3) in flight below leads to a short but really informative article about airships in general (some drawings).
As a side note, the mast at the top of the Empire State Building is there, but the Zeppelin Company never had any intention of using it, and in today’s terms the photograph at the link to the “New York Times” article (there is a limit to how many times you can activate it) below was photo shopped (and the “New York Illustrated” cover an “artist’s cocept.”
More facts about, and pictures of (really good ones), the USS Los Angeles.
It was built in 1923–1924 by the Zeppelin company in Friedrichshafen, Germany, as war reparation (think Hindenburg).
The plane is a Curtis F9C Sparrow Hawk. Of the few built, most were destroyed with the Akron and Macon. One remains that was assembled from spare parts. The landing gear could be removed for dedicated operation from an airship.
Not a good day today.
It started with my arthritis kicking into full gear because i missed my anti inflammatory the last couple of days. (I got the new prescription in the mail today. hopefully i’ll be better tomorrow.)
Getting my client up had complications getting up so i didn’t get to his shopping till late, causing me to forget to check on a prescription for a different client. I had to go back this afternoon and get it. Then wait a half an hour for it to be finished.
It’s 3:30, i have to go back to work at 6:00 to put him back to bed, i wont gt home until 8:00.
I’m tired now.
Good lord! How many skins does that dog have on?! XD
Looks like enough for 2 or 3 dogs.
Basset owners in the comments on a YouTube video I watched seemed to be bragging about how many ankle rolls their dogs had.
It must be a thing to count them…. kinda like points on a stag’s antlers?
Hey, a basselope could have both!
Maybe he just lost weight?
Is that a “before” photo?
Does she drag on the ground in the middle?
I never knew bassets were supposed to look like that.
Do you think she might be part bloodhound? Maybe Shar Pei?
About 10 years earlier, the photographer (Williams) was HERE.
Keep scrolling down. There’s more.

I immediately surmised that the woman on the upper left was looking at her phone, but no, I guess not.
a very familiar pose these days
I see more dead people
No! That was only 88 years ago.
I’m sure they’re all about 107 years old now.
I’m reasonably certain this was shot by Turkish photographer Şafak Tortu, but all my searches keep not coming up with it.
Good luck!
Found the evidence!!! The link leads to pages of some very interesting photography by Şafak Tortu
You’re on page four, go down eight on the right.
Take a closer look at the compass on your way by.
You found it!
The Moth is built for speed, not cruising! No cockpit, just a tiny “vessel” to hold the functional parts, and yes, one human.
Look like a lot of fun, but you’d better have a really good overall fitness level to sail one safely (or at all).

Here’s a 12 minute video that’s a lot better than the above.
WOW!

I’ve always liked this one better than ” ‘Yellow Ribbon.”
If you are at all curious….,.
Here’s “The Real Canadian Superstore” flyer for this week.
FLYER LINK
hm…seems kinda pricey
But he comes . . . ALIVE! . . .
They would have to pay me to take that…..and even then?
No. Just No.
I don’t think that ∓10 ft coco palm has enough wood in it to float ONE Clifford, never mind three.
And Cleo doesn’t have quite as much magic as she thinks.
Never mind, though… she’ll think of something.
Kinda convenient, how that star(fish) just happened to wash up right at her feet, to mark her spot.

I’m STILL looking for the alt key on my Mac keyboard , but I did find if you don’t
hold down any key and type in two forty one, you get 241
That’s amazing!
Starfish are like like that. That’s their job.
Monopoly day!
How much does it cost if you land on Belcherville Avenue?
if you land on Belcherville Avenue, what it costs you in terms of money is the least of your problems.
You’re in luck. It’s for sale! Send $10,000 in clean, unmarked bills to Liverlips McCracken, PO Box 13.
The money is all set, so: PO Box 13, Anywhere, Planet Earth ??
Correct.
weren’t the houses and hotels originally wood?

How I missed the red line under Hindenberg, Tigressy, I do not know, but I did.
Thanks for the correction.

I was half expecting a chopper to airlift them out…
TGIF Cleophans!
Grab a cola and a smile. (((((HuGz!)))))
Love this story line, NH. I still like BACONBOY CAMPER’S solution of the “do not push” button!!
Was that from today, ML? I don’t see it.
It was on Wednesday, the 17th

You’ve a heart of gold!
agreed!
You’ll make my head swell. It’s fat enough already. 🙂
I’ve been thinking what a rough week I’ve had. But I couldn’t handle your job on good day!
It has its moments.
I hope I find someone just like YOU when my time comes.
xoxo
What’s your medication? I’m sick and tired of the arthritis in my knees…
And take care!
