For the man, he’s getting a newly-tailored coat, I think, with rolls of cloth in the background.
Both visions are right up there with our (expected) flying cars…
Thanks, Alexi. Most interesting.
Also interesting is that there are many of the 54 visions which have come to fruition in a manner, albeit you may have to stretch the theme a bit… But seeing that someone in the late 1800’s could rationalize inventions that far into the future is monumental.
This is another Booth in which he copies the conventions of wood engraving in pen and ink, because copying books of engravings was how he taught himself to draw.
This cannot possibly be the full comic, but it is the full story. “WONDER WOMAN” 232 Ahem, ahem, ahem,….The female artwork is executed to appeal to 13-year-old-non-females.
No, I have not, and having read this WIKIPEDIA ARTICLE, I’ve come to the conclusion that if Marston used his (D)ominance,(i)nfluence(S)teadiness and(C)onscientiousness assessment on himself he would have to come up with a new designation; (J)ust(P)lain(W)eird ! ! !
Today’s Songs (beginning list two):
1. ‘Absolutely Right,’ 2. ‘ Ain’t Nobody Here but us Chickens,’ 3. ‘ Ain’t That a Shame,’ and 4. ‘ Alley Cat,’ and the ‘Cheap Thrills Cuisine’ recipe 5. ‘Chicken Cordon Bleu.’
1. A cute song about a guy changing his behaviour to get his ‘mama’ back by ‘The Five Man Electrical Band’ (I’ve already posted their biggest international hit, ‘Signs’.
2. The original from mid December 1946. The song has been covered many times throughout the years (‘Cheap Trick’s’ cover appears below).
3. Originally titled as ‘Ain’t It a Shame’ by its composer, Antoine Dominique Domino Jr., it sold one million copies. It too has been covered by many; I’ve put ‘Cheap Tricks’ cover below.
4. Another song that had its original title changed from ‘Omkring et flygel'(the composer, Bent Fabricius-Bjerre also composed it under the pseudonym, Frank Björn). By Wikipedia if you hear this on the street in Mexico, it’s probably being played by an ice cream truck.
5. Very similar to the ‘Chicken Caesar Wrap’ of the the 27th.
The Alley Cat was the first dance I learned. It was a staple at weddings & bar mitzva’s when I was a kid. I like it better than the Bird Dance that’s replaced it.
.
Looking pretty calm for a wet bird.
Obviously it’s not a hen.
😀
DZIOB!
looks like he’s preparing to do his post bath wing flap
looks like a new-fangled hairdo!
I know that look!
NOSE!
Oh, those puppy needles. I still have marks from Moxie (15 years ago)!
.
“In the year 2000” … just what is it they’re shown here doing, that seemed futuristic when this was published?
I don’t think we do it, in the year 2023, because I have no idea what it is…
It seems to maybe have something to do with dressing and grooming.
That’s what i see.
She seems to have automated combs and a harsh looking scrubber in the tub, while he has just had his coat cleaned.
It looks to me like a roll of fabric is going into the machine at the top and a freshly made coat is appearing out of the bottom.
The guy at the right is the one being measured for the coat if you’ll notice the reference pointers being made to him by the contraption to his right.

A LINK to a site that has captions for these and 52 others by the French artist Villemard.

makes you glad we missed the turn of THAT century.
Franklin Booth

Yes.
Oh okay, if you insist… Sigh…
on the fish…
on its dorsal (top) fin, near the middle
Took a bit. I found the number “one” right away, but the numeral “1” took longer.
Wow. I got it fast. I looked right at it.
hooray… i got 1.
,
Just as bad, if not worse (knowing what we know today).
Not gonna like this.
awful!!!!
I remember candy cigarettes. I liked them as a little boy. Still never smoked, though.
Candy cigarettes and bubblegum cigars. Used to get them on Halloween. Never smoked either.
I preferred the chocolate ones.

Well, yeah. :)
Have you ever watched “Professor Marston and the Wonder Women”?
No, I have not, and having read this WIKIPEDIA ARTICLE, I’ve come to the conclusion that if Marston used his (D)ominance,(i)nfluence(S)teadiness and(C)onscientiousness assessment on himself he would have to come up with a new designation; (J)ust(P)lain(W)eird ! ! !
But it explains a lot.
…
just singing and dancing in the rain!
I like it .
Looks kinda moist out.
Expecting Cleo to do anything like other dogs had been a lost cause since day one.
But i think I’d prefer to give her her own bathroom, if I could.
I’m with Claude.
I like Khakiaturian’s composing. Gayane’s adagio is one of my favorite classical pieces.
This is the only video I found of the “Sabre Dance” being performed (it is anything but adagio).

5 is not a Cordon Bleu.

Lenny’s picture is a link to his website.
Rosemary would have been better off, maybe, if Minnie Castevet had served her one of these.
NOSE!
