In putting together the page tonight, I came across the information that Tim Curry had a serious stroke in 2012. I had no idea that that had happened. The encouraging thing is that apparently, while not able to work as before, he still keeps active doing voice-overs and speaking engagements, and, as in the interview above, encourages young people who desire to work in the performing arts.
It sounds as though he has maintained his sense of humor…
and I’m glad he still finds work.

I’m a fan of his work… though of course, I didn’t see him in “IT”.
The funny thing about that, I’ve read, is that neither did he.
He’s had a lifelong, intense, fear of clowns… and refused to even look at himself in a mirror, never mind watch the daily rushes or see the finished film… not even YouTube clips.

Like most people, I’d never heard of him before I saw him in Rocky Horror (the human version)…
Two things I expected when I saw him in other roles, after that, were that he would be very tall, and very good looking…
But though his height seems imposing as Dr. Frank-N-Furter, he’s wearing extremely high heels… in reality he’s just shy of 5’8″ tall.
Not that it matters in terms of attractiveness… but it was a surprise.
He may also be the only straight actor I can think of who is WAY better looking in lipstick and a corset.
Did you notice the pedestrian? If she was walking just a tad faster that could have been bad.
That’s the closest that I’ve ever seen a person come to getting hurt in one of these vids.
Victor Borge was a brilliant and talented artist and performer. I sincerely hope that he will enjoy periodic resurgences of notoriety as successive generations find him in these web archives.

Funny! He is a great straight man, as he produces these sound strings that are the consequence of his perfectly reasonable rules.

I love this particular poster. Have we seen it before on Sherpa? I’m trying to think which role I would predict for Cleo, since Susan Sarandog played the part of Janet Whyyy-yy.
Did you know that Richard O’Basset, who plays Ruff-Ruff, with a soaring howl, also wrote the book, the music, and the lyrics for the original stage play?
And he’s the one howling the song during the opening credits, though it seems to be coming from the red-lipsticked mouth of Bassetricia Quinn, who plays Magenta, Ruff-Ruff’s sister.
For the filming, she was neither singing nor mouthing the lyrics… it was done by animating a photo of her lips.

I’m not a person who goes to movies over and over… but somehow I saw Rocky Horror about 6 or 8 times when it first came out….
You go with one friend and tell another friend… and that one wants you to come see it with some other friends…
and then there was a birthday party where we all went to see it…
somehow it snowballs.

Oh, and of course you had to see it when it moved to a bigger theater, and again after a friend reported that the audiences were showing up in costume.
Then we bought the stage play soundtrack album… then the movie soundtrack… then the human versions…
and played them over and over in our San Francisco store.
Bits from the dialogue became part of daily conversations… “I didn’t make him for you!”
I guess you could say we were fans!

I do have to say not as crazy, though, as the people who walked around every day dressed as Transylvanians, or saw the movie 177 times.
I haven’t seen it often over the last 25 years or so… but I’m always ready to watch it again.

If you want a change from turkey this year, the slaw would also complement either of Grog’s Irish Lamb Stew or StelBel’s Chicken,Shrimp,Ham and Sausage Filé Gumbo recipes really well.
You could try it with Rum Ribs, but I’m not really sure it would fit.
Actually, Alexi, that’s YOUR recipe for Coleslaw, not mine. I just took recipes from GoComic readers and posted them on that Citizen Dog page (there are a couple of my own there as well). Canadian Thanksgiving may have different traditional dishes than we do here……at least, here in the Pilgrim’s New England, coleslaw would be rare to find on a traditional Thanksgiving table. On the other hand, it would be a perfect complement to Rum Ribs, or any other kind of BBQ’d Ribs, for that matter.

I saw “Rocky Horror” for the first time between 2005 and 2009 on late-night television while on the road for a job.
I had heard of it because of all the hype around it every Halloween since I don’t know when, but had never had the desire to see it.
I tuned it in and became a fan.
Our daughter is coming home for the holidays and wants to watch two movies – Rocky Horror and Top Gun – while she’s here.
