Telephoto lens, it always distorts the distances between the camera and the object that is focused upon. You see the same effect on curves in railway tracks and roads if they are in the foreground.
But I was talking about possible edits to enhance the physical scene.
The dramatically silhouettedd cable cars on top of the hill, with no background showing, and what looks like the shortening of the drops, with no angle apparent.
Since cable cars only run on certain streets, this is probably Filbert,; I believe it’s their steepest run.
…
But thinking more about it… If you were right down at the bottom, so your camera had to point almost straight up, it’s possible the distance between cross streets would be foreshortened to that extent…
And maybe you’d see the cable cars against the sky with no pesky background.
It’s a narrow crop, in any case, leaving out the buildings on the sides.
there’s a story there somewhere….this could be an illustration that accompanied it—or it’s a mysterious painting-(notice the rendering of individual leaves)
“ Her Morning Run ” By: Leonard Koscianski, (42″x26″, oil on canvas, 2015)
I’m with Susan on this one. We don’t know if the moon is rising or setting, but it does either in the East or the West; so where is the light coming from?
“It is a bit dark and edgy. There is a sense of foreboding created by the long shadows, and distant darkness. The runner seems small and vulnerable. Are they being watched?”
At first I couldn’t quite figure out why he looked familiar…
Then I held up my hand in a sort of open 👌 circle and peered at his face through the middle, so I was blocking most of his hair from my view, and somehow saw the right features.
They don’t want to chase these kittens; they want to lick them.
I’ve known a couple of them who both tried to curl up around the unwilling family cat (two different families and cats) and both treated my scrappy, ornery little dog like a puppy.
When my dog would playfully attack or steal toys in an attempt to be chased, or maybe start a mock fight, with the one I knew best, she would simply put her paw on top of my dog’s head and briefly pin her down.
Today’s Songs:
‘Take It Easy,’ ‘Take it to the Limit,’ ‘Take On Me,’ and ‘Taxi,’ and the ‘Cheap Thrills Cuisine’ recipe ‘Breaded Zucchini Wedges.’
Ronald Adamson of Libby, Montana did the ‘Take It Easy’ sculpture on the corner of West 2nd Street and Kinsley Avenue (West 2nd Street was part of Route 66) in Winslow, Arizona in the picture below. There is also a link to an article/interview celebrating the statue’s 20th anniversary featuring the sculptor.
Second ‘Eagles’ song: the only ‘A’ side on which Randy Meisner sang lead.
I’ve always liked this well-performed and drawn video as well as the song; it has a happy ending. ‘Aha’ was formed in Oslo Therese Bailey former English actress and model is now 59 years old, a personal assistant in industry and mother of two.
A memorial to a real past relationship, but everything, except his very real feelings, is fictionalized (I never really warmed to ‘Sequel’) .
As I think I’ve said at another time, if I’ve ever had zucchini, I didn’t recognize it as such. The breading mix sounds really good though.
Harry Chapin! One of very few artists I’ve seen more than once. I went from “kinda-likin'” his music to super fan after seeing him. His concerts were part music and part story telling. He always made the audience members feel like we were friends of his. I saw him twice; he died way too young.
A normal winter here includes a total snow fall of 100″; at least 10 days with over 10″ on the ground, and another 60 days with 5″-10″. Last winter it was all rain. Zero days of 10″, maybe a week of barely 5″. They said 49″ fell but it was mixed with rain much of the time.
This was Milo
NOSE!

Ok, yeah, it’s steep… And sometimes almost impossible looking
But I think this picture had some help during editing.
Telephoto lens, it always distorts the distances between the camera and the object that is focused upon. You see the same effect on curves in railway tracks and roads if they are in the foreground.
Yes, thanks… I’m familiar with that distortion.
But I was talking about possible edits to enhance the physical scene.

whoa!!!!!
The magic hour. Best light for dramatic photos.
I always liked mornings–the morning light seemed different from dusk
..
It’s it me or is this kind of spooky?
there’s a story there somewhere….this could be an illustration that accompanied it—or it’s a mysterious painting-(notice the rendering of individual leaves)
I was spooked by the strange light, but especially by the man watching the girl from an upstairs window, in that odd, growing darkness.
But who knows… maybe he’s just innocently looking out of his window.
Ooh, missed him
It foreshadows the falling and subsequent raking of all those leaves; so yes, it’s terribly spooky.

Edited in at 12:15 hrs. E.S.T.
THE ARTIST, HIMSELF ON THE PAINTING
From a construction site.
We do have that here first hand these days.
Ok, he says it’s sunrise, not sunset.
but he does mention that the girl might be being watched.
Parent? SO? Waiting for her return to have breakfast together?
From the artist himself:
“It is a bit dark and edgy. There is a sense of foreboding created by the long shadows, and distant darkness. The runner seems small and vulnerable. Are they being watched?”

Do what you will, son, but in 40 years that’s you.
To baldly go…
Got the adult.
I can’t believe I got it from the young one!
At first I couldn’t quite figure out why he looked familiar…
Then I held up my hand in a sort of open 👌 circle and peered at his face through the middle, so I was blocking most of his hair from my view, and somehow saw the right features.
Try that some time.
oh, yeah, that works!
Ah well, looked like an early Mark Hamill to me!

I can see a sort of resemblance to Mark Hamill, now that you say it, even though the adults don’t look alike at all.
I was thinking Mark was younger than this person…but he’s actually older!
I got the adult as well this time.
You call that a scary jack-o-lantern?
I could beat it up with one paw behind my back!
NOSE!

What is it about Golden’s and their fascination with kitties?
I think they’re very motherly dogs.
They don’t want to chase these kittens; they want to lick them.
I’ve known a couple of them who both tried to curl up around the unwilling family cat (two different families and cats) and both treated my scrappy, ornery little dog like a puppy.

4 GOLDEN NOSES, and a whole bunch of kitten noses!
I didn’t think you counted hidden ones!
LOL 😆
how to stop an ostrich
I always wondered about that.
Really?
I’ve wondered about many, many things in my life.
Every time I Google something, a long list of prior searches comes up, as suggestions, and it changes constantly, as i add new searches.
But I think I’m fairly safe in stating that you will not find, in that list, that I ever looked for anything about stopping an ostrich.😁
how can you talk with your tongue pressed into your cheek?
I lithp.
If “True”, then thatsa humongous RR !!!
But just imagine it – and the police-persons’ facial expressions…
What’s worse is when the snow comes like that.
Especially where you live.
Taking all the remaining leaves (and branches) with it.

RON ADAMSON ARTICLE/INTERVIEW

If the snow comes like that here, an entire winter’s worth in one collosal “Whump!”…
It might sound more like “whimper“.
You might see a little on the ground, in some years, if you get out there within 10 minutes.
…
One year… I think it was 1991 …. we had snow that stayed on the ground for a few hours in the very early morning, mostly only in the shadows.
I slept through it, but my neighbors were rushing outside taking pictures.
If my yard was like theirs, it must have been at least ¼ inch deep!
…
Now the leaves, that’s different.
I get at least an an inch of leaves every year.
Maybe two!
Poor baby.
Am average year here (I have no winter data) includes 29″ of rain, which is mostly between October and March, ergo, in winter..
And 0.0″ of snow.
We bundle up when it’s 49° outside.
OK, I’ll stay here ☺
You prefer that?!?
I just realised… 10 days x 10″ =100″ right there.
plus 60 days with let’s say about 7″ is another 420″.
Add in some lighter snowfalls…. is it really 1000″?
Or do those daily measurements reflect inches of standing snow, mostly remaining on the ground from previous days, and not fresh snowfall?
i love the part where clara describes the type of humor!
the only reason you didn’t hear the ‘thump’ was it was in the missing panel between 2 & 3
