When it hurts like Hell (and it will for a couple of months), you start to appreciate every little encouragement you can get to try to make it just another step, another deep breath, even to make it to a chair or to sit up or stand from the side of the bed.
Didn’t check in later yesterday. This is fantastic news. So glad that you let us all know.
Now you’ve got some tough work ahead of you – healing! We know you can do it. After all you did the tough work of getting in shape so that you could receive the transplant.
Remember that hand in hand with healing is resting. It takes a lot of energy for your body to fix all the pieces the docs had to break to take out an old lung and put in a new one.
(I have a friend who, while not needing a transplant, had open lung surgery to remove lots of plastic-like inclusions that were interfering with his ability to breathe. It took quite a bit of time before he was feeling really well again.)

Fantastic news! Now work hard at recuperation. Think of it as breathing for two.
Old Phart does not need to be told to work hard, he has busted his butt for years to become eligible for this procedure.
