“The Raven” is my second favourite Poe poem.
I’ve put both my first and third, in order, in the spoiler box.
My first and third favourite Poe poems.
Eldorado
BY: EDGAR ALLAN POE
Gaily bedight,
A gallant knight,
In sunshine and in shadow,
Had journeyed long,
Singing a song,
In search of Eldorado.
But he grew old—
This knight so bold—
And o’er his heart a shadow—
Fell as he found
No spot of ground
That looked like Eldorado.
And, as his strength
Failed him at length,
He met a pilgrim shadow—
‘Shadow,’ said he,
‘Where can it be—
This land of Eldorado?’
‘Over the Mountains
Of the Moon,
Down the Valley of the Shadow,
Ride, boldly ride,’
The shade replied,— ‘If you seek for Eldorado!’
The Conqueror Worm
BY EDGAR ALLAN POE
Lo! ’t is a gala night
Within the lonesome latter years!
A mystic throng, bewinged, bedight
In veils, and drowned in tears,
Sit in a theatre, to see
A play of hopes and fears,
While the orchestra breathes fitfully
The music of the spheres.
Mimes, in the form of God on high,
Mutter and mumble low,
And hither and thither fly—
Mere puppets they, who come and go
At bidding of vast shadowy things
That shift the scenery to and fro,
Flapping from out their Condor wings
Invisible Woe!
That motley drama—oh, be sure
It shall not be forgot!
With its Phantom chased for evermore
By a crowd that seize it not,
Through a circle that ever returneth in
To the self-same spot,
And much of Madness, and more of Sin,
And Horror the soul of the plot.
But see, amid the mimic rout,
A crawling shape intrude!
A blood-red thing that writhes from out
The scenic solitude!
It writhes!—it writhes!—with mortal pangs
The mimes become its food,
And the angels sob at vermin fangs
In human gore imbued.
Out—out are the lights—out all!
And, over each dying form,
The curtain, a funeral pall,
Comes down with the rush of a storm,
And the seraphs, all haggard and wan,
Uprising, unveiling, affirm
That the play is the tragedy, “Man,”
And its hero, the Conqueror Worm.
Poe was known to sell the same writings to more than one publisher, with slightly different wordings; I’ve got two reputable publishers versions of “The Raven” which is why Christopher Walken’s version is different from either of mine .
His interpretation of some lines differ from mine, but that’s poetry; the reader gets to interpret it to suit.
I liked his, it gave me a different perspective.
“The Shawkennel Redemption” poster was such a hit yesterday that I went looking online for it.
Alas, as usual, only the renamed human version can be found in this dimension.
Still, for a human movie at just short of 2 hours 23 minutes it’s a very entertaining film.

I guess Claude would have to have a bowling ball roll over his foot, before he would notice.
I especially liked the Penny Lane Trumpeter. It reminded me of a recent death notice for the harpist who played the opening notes of “She’s Leaving Home.” She was paid $17.
There is something weird going on.
When I made my posts, I had the full youtube Fifth Dimension video form, now all I’ve got is this (01:02 hrs. eastern time)…
I’m a huge admirer of Mr. Livingston’s art. Although we don’t share the same
level of talent, we DO share an interest in subject matter. He seems to like
the Art Deco period the most and theaters of that period in particular.
That happened to me late last night. At first, nothing on the page showed up, even though I was connected to the internet and could navigate to other sites. Then, finally, the living room bowling alley Cleo strip and the comments showed, but not the videos.
The videos finally showed up this morning (although, that might have happened while I was sleeping, so I don’t really know how long that took).
[MY, ISN’T THIS THE MOST INTERESTING COMMENT EVER? I’M ALMOST ASLEEP TYPING IT!]
Bottom line: my theory is that since I ruled out any problem with my computers and with my internet connection, I’m guessing that it had something to do with the WordPress site and its connection to the internet and/or various browsers. That’s my theory and I’m sticking to it until someone comes up with (what I consider to be) a better one!!

Umm, Claude, check your credit card for a charge…
… made to these people.

Ahhh….but it was Tigressy who saved the day.
Nope; just following the separated links and posting the result.
(blush)
yeah, it wasn’t Mighty Mouse
For those getting eyestrain.

Those are the three videos Nighthawks posted above….
But for some reason, the line spacing got all messed up and the links are run together.
I copied and pasted them here, and separated them.
….
Right now, to me, they’re still links, not embedded.
But sometimes that changes depending on my internet connection… so I can’t tell yet how you’re seeing them.
I checked and if they’re not embedded, at least the first two do work if you click them.
The first is The Fifth Dimension – Aquarius – Let The Sunshine In
The second is The Spinners – Rubberband Man.
The third says “video not available.”
Of course if your dog has a bowling alley installed in your house, running right through the living room, passing between your feet and the tv….
You’re just going to sit on the couch, completely unconcerned, except to wonder vaguely when it happened, right?
You won’t raise your voice, ask any questions, or worry about the financing or the reconstruction of your living space, will you?
….
Inconceivable, you say?
No one could be that calm?
….
Meet the Cliffords… Claude and Clara….
The most chill dog parents in the universe.
Not even a “Confound it, Cleo!” from their lips.
Whatever they’ve been drinking, may I have one, please?
These should work:
They do for me.
Just in case it matters, as in the Indianapolis poster, I’m running a PC.
Correction: There are two Ls in THHACKLTWAKL.
Picky, picky, picky?
Frances Livingston
I’m reasonably sure that this is the photograph he based his painting on.
“They paved paradise and put up a parking lot”. Such a shame.
I’m a huge admirer of Mr. Livingston’s art. Although we don’t share the same

Has Cleo always been a southpaw? I just noticed.
Or ambidextrous.
I enjoyed going bowling in the Clifford’s living room. Doesn’t everyone?
Our daughter flew home yesterday. What a great visit! And she was able to work remotely from here!
I was able to sit back and enjoy my coffee and watch all the videos. That 5th Dimension was great.
C’mon, Cleo, I can’t hear the TV!!

So, what time is dessert?
is anybody not able to see the embedded videos above?
