Was it here (it’s episode 2 of the series)?
The U.R.L. doesn’t want to load in video form, but it comes up as playable on my PC running Windows 10 when I click on it.
By Google translate, it’s a mash up.
It calls zoodohou English (you’ve got me), pidgis is apparently supposed to be “Pidgis” the third common language of the Philippines, exarcheia it says is Greek for “expiration date”, and Athens is English for Athens.
If the two names are well known somewhere, that “somewhere” hasn’t come to Wikipedia’s ken yet.
I’m thinking it may be the result of someone somewhere experimenting with “Photoshop” or a “Photoshop” type program.
For me. Google translate confirmed that it’s Greek, which I’d thought because those two large print names (perhaps brothers or a couple) sound Greek.
“Zoodohou pigis” (no d) means fountain or source of well-being”, while “Exarcheia” is an area of Athens where artsy types, anarchists and immigrants live. It’s also incorporated into the name of some buildings and businesses there.
I’m thinking that here, it’s probably a street in that area, and 25 Exarcheia is an address.
Ie, appended to the cover is an ad…
Those two people, whom I haven’t yet searched, are probably appearing on Feb 3rd, at that address in Athens, at a venue called “The Fountain of Well-being”.
I’m pretty sure the whole thing is a not just a comic book cover but a poster for an event, using the old comic as background art, simply because it looks cool.
…
From Alexi’s link, here’s the actual cover…
The title of the comic was “Adventures into Darkness” and it’s in a different font.
The (probably Greek) maker of the poster put “Off the Chain” on top instead, in the same font as the large Greek wording at the bottom… Probably the name of the event, in English to be hip, and to look good with the vintage American comic.
IE…The Vlaschakis brothers are appearing in a concert called “Off The Chain” on Feb 3rd (of some way more recent year than the comic book) at this venue in Athens.
From yesterday.
In the spoiler box is a diagram of what azimuths are. All azimuths are based on true north, not magnetic north.
Without going into details, it is quite common on this side of the border to use time as distance.
Q: How far is it from ‘A’ to ‘B’?
A: About four hours or so.
I know what an azimuth is!
You don’t need to show me a giant diagram, thanks anyway.
But sorry, that doesn’t make this sentence make sense to me:
“Two and a bit hours at an azimuth of (call it 230° / typographical error correction at 07:34hrs. E.D.T. that’s 320°) will allow Susan to tour ‘Big River Beach’ in Mendocino.”
…
As for traveling by the hour, we say that here, too, and they probably say it everywhere.
But usually, to be clear, unless the method of travel is known or obvious, as for instance, at the airport or in a gas station, we say two hours by bus, a 4 hour drive, a 3 hour flight, etc.
Eight hours from Munich by car is vastly different from eight hours directly by air, and also depends on whether you mean driving on highways and stopping at borders, or driving in the direction the crow would fly if it could.
Today’s Songs:
‘Money (That’s What I Want),’ ‘Mony Mony ,’ ‘Moskau,’ and ‘Mr. Cab Driver,’ and the ‘Cheap Thrills Cuisine’ recipe ‘Avocado Fruit Salad.’
Gordy Berry of Motwon Records fame is credited. She either is, or was given the passage of time, a psychotherapist. I don’t know about you, but if I need a therapist I don’t want one that’s crazier than I am.
The title was inspired by ‘Mutual of New York’s’ neon sign atop its building.
— Tigressy,
were you in Munich when ‘Dschinghis Khan’ was formed and did you ever see them perform? I ask because they were the West German entry for Eurovision 1979 ( 4th with their entry’s song title being the same as their group name (bonus track of that below / Israel won).
Lenny Kravitz based the song on an experience of trying to get a cab in New York City one day, and being ignored because he is African American.
Pumpkin pies? ! ! ! YES ! ! !, but the rest of this overly long pumpkin-everthing foolishness can go away today.
This is from today’s London “Daily Mail.”
Our girl Stel is in serious trouble.
On Wednesday she suffered a stroke and was recuperating in her local hospital with the prospect of returning home today.
Last night though, a blockage was detected in her carotid artery (which caused her stroke) and she was flown to Boston for emergency surgery to relieve the blockage.
I’m Still awaiting updates on how that is going and what the prognosis is.
fingers crossed , everybody!—I’ll post progress reports as I get them
Cookie cleared the fence in a single bound yesterday. I knew she probably could get over it, but I didn’t think she would. So, I spent part of my last official day of vacation (weekends don’t count) calling fence companies to come give me an estimate on a 6′ vinyl privacy fence to replace the current chain link. It’s a good thing she’s cute and I love her.
Chased her down with help of some neighbors. The husky in her is showing. I’m just glad I was home. Who know what would have happened if I’d been at work. She’s now on house arrest until I can get a new fence.
Someone said that a Fox is a Dog running on Cat software.
I wish i could remember where i read/saw that.
I have mentioned that on Ten Cats in the past. I read it in a post on Imgur if I remember correctly.

i like it’s costume….
Fancy ghostwear.
When the spirit moves you to go formal…
,
I like the later version better.
Of what?
My bad – I was thinking of “The Raven”.
yeh, except for old Basil, they were all in that 1963 movie
A gathering of the greats.
Actually, for a 1964 movie, “The Comedy of Terrors”.
An over-the-top spoof — probably really awful, but at least it brought them all back to the screen, however long in the tooth.
Not that I saw it.
WOW!
Basil’s boots are dirty.
His pant legs too.
He’s the undertaker… I guess he’s been digging.
,,
I thought something was weird about this….
I’m looking for the story, but everywhere I’ve gone, thus far, my anti-virus has become active.
the most weird is the last line—another language?

Probably no one will see this…
But just in case…

Found it. Just click on the page (I do at least two crosswords online everyday).

NOSE!!
Pretty sure we have seen these two before. Dogs seemingly do have the ability to befriend many other species.

I never liked that group.
Step on it before it gets loose!
We don’t want those being an invasive species!
And you know how fast the little nipper in Alien grew!
Can I have it?
I’ll keep it in a fireproof cage I promise!
I’ll only let it toast marshmallows, maybe a hamburger or a steak now and then.
It’s so cute!
It’d come in handy if any of your guests wanted to smoke…
They wouldn’t necessarily quit smoking, but any other substance abuse.
I heard about a vampire that stormed out of the blood bank because the staff refused to give him a loan.
