“The Artist’s Father, Reading the Newspaper”, 1866.
An early work by Paul Cezanne, the noted Impressionist and, later, Post-Impressionist.
Cezanne painted so many famous landscapes, and portraits of artists, in new and experimental styles, there’s something, to me, rather mundane and endearing about a casual portrait of dad reading the paper.
By the mid 1860s, he had exhibited with the Impressionists, as all were rejected by the Salon de Paris, in the famous Salon Des Refuses (the Salon of the Refused), but some of them hated his work, and he hated some of theirs.
This painting was the only one of his ever exhibited by the official Salon, through the efforts of a friend, but it didn’t sell.
It was judged by the critics of the time, like most of his work, to be crude and ugly! Wouldn’t it be great to be able to go back and snap it up for very little?
He later did, of course, become famous and admired.
You can find the rat’s eyes and part of his head among the Tom cats. Imagine a diagonal from the upper left of the rat’s picture box which extends through and well past the lower right corner and you should see it.

Very well done!
I mean the comic, of course… not Cleo’s behavior.

Like Yogi Berra said…
“It’s déjà vu all over again…”

Yup.
I still think the El station looks like a cute little house, perched over urban Manhattan.
A great place to live if you could just get all those people to quit walking through the living room.

I know those little boxes are still out there, though I don’t see them too often. Some cereals are also sold in a cup-like paper bowl.
I do remember noticing that the 6 or 8 pack, or whatever it was, came to around $1 a box.
Not only just a wee bit expensive for trick or treaters… How many kids would rather get cereal, even sugary cereal, than candy?
It’s like getting clothes for Christmas.

Aww… It’s expecting a baby QR code any day now.

That wasn’t very nice.

Once again, moving too fast for my eyes to see what’s happening.
Ginger cat suddenly appears!
I guess I didn’t really miss it, only, because it was all so fast, that that was the point.

And where is Shop Girl? And Brinkley?

If anxiety was a cartoon …
I keep thinking maybe it’s a puzzle…
Found it right away. Unusual for me.
Thanks for providing the goal without revealing the answer.
Found it
