She was moved from the ICU at Boston Gen back to her hometown of Easthampton, Mass. The blood clot in her brain couldn’t be stinted because it was too dispersed .What this means is she is no longer able to care for herself and is hardly aware of her surroundings. I just talked to her sister who told me that she will most probably have all her property and possessions sold and she will be in a nursing home. the stroke just took it all out of and away from her.
Her sister told me to tell you folks to not lose faith and that with therapy there is hope for some improvement
They were irradiating my neck, so I bought a little plastic model of Godzilla as a mascot (unfortunately, I didn’t get Godzilla’s abilitly with his breath though ☹ ).
An observation I have made while watching his movies; whether he is the good monster or the bad monster he always saves the day or creates his greatest destruction after he is thrown on his back.
I think it is very sweet for Tony Bennett that Lady Gaga came into his late life. They make a great duet. And Tony might not have known where he was much of the time, but he recognized a microphone and a beautiful lady on the same stage and performed as he had all his life.
Today’s Songs:
‘Outside of a Small Circle of Friends,’ ‘Peanut Butter,’ ‘Phantom 309,’ and ‘Pictures of Lily,’ and the ‘Cheap Thrills Cuisine’ recipe ‘Avocado Veggie Wrap.’
There is a picture link to the Wikipedia story of the song (there were inaccuracies in the ‘New York Times’ article that came out later). Phil Ochs committed suicide in 1976.
Not the ‘Georgia Peanut Commission’ (this is the song they used though) video; just the 45 with the song’s publishing information.

Panko bread crumbs are basically spiceless croutons.
Slice the crust away from any type of bread slice, cube it and dry the cubes in the oven between 200° and 300° F.. From today’s London “Daily Mail” (It sounds good):
Well, it does say “….if you prefer.”
As I said here once, I once had a Thanksgiving guest who asked for ketchup for his turkey.
If that was the way he enjoyed it, that was the way he enjoyed it.
Figures! We’ll have pasta witch chicken-liver ragù tonight. Instead of tagliatelle I’ll use rotelle (Choo Choo Wheels Pasta) because they absorb the sauce perfectly and are less messy to eat…
Thank you ! ! !
Subject to the quirks of ‘Google Translate’ I’ve put the English text in the box.
I wonder how many of the ‘Brothers Grimm’ fairy tales were also inspired by real life events.
The true story of Hansel and Gretel
A young girl from Wernigerode came to the monastery in Quedlinburg at the age of twelve. Her name was Katharina Schladerer. In the monastery kitchen, the girl learned how to bake gingerbread from an old nun according to the special recipes of this old kitchen sister. When she died, she left these recipes to Katharina Schladerer.
A few years later she moved to Nuremberg to open a gingerbread bakery there. Soon their bakeries were known in the wider area. A Nuremberg baker named Hans Metzger was very interested in Katharina Schladerer’s recipes.
But she didn’t tell him.
Then he proposed marriage to her in order to get to know her. But the girl from the Harz region didn’t respond to that.
Finally, Katharina wanted to escape the Nuremberg baker’s stalking and moved to the Spessart. Hidden there in the forest, she built an oven and a hut, and from then on she baked gingerbread in the forest.
Hans Metzger from Nuremberg searched for her for a long time. He was now married. His wife Grete accompanied him when he visited Katharina Schladerer in the Spessart and again pressed her to tell him the recipes. She didn’t do that.
Then the Nuremberg baker came up with a harmful idea; He reported the gingerbread baker in the Spessart as a witch.
She was taken to prison and tried. But since she had good friends among princes and in the monasteries, she was acquitted. She started baking gingerbread in the forest again. Warned by Hans Metzger’s persistence, she buried her recipes under one of her ovens.
Finally, Hans & Grete Metzger traveled to the Spessart. When they had no luck with Katharina Schladerer, they killed her and burned her in one of their ovens. However, they couldn’t find the recipes.
In order to cover up their crime, they spread the word throughout the Spessart that Schladerer was a witch and had held Hans Metzger prisoner in order to slaughter him. But his wife Gretel would have freed him and burned the witch.
This is what the Brothers Grimm heard when they traveled through the Spessart in search of fairy tales and wrote it down in their own words.
i just saw, NH’s post! i never went back to the top of the page. stel, you need to rest for a while and then we expect you back!!

I’m just devastated, Nighthawks. I can only imagine how you are feeling. We can hope for the best outcome, though. Good that she has her sister to help through this. When my husband was going through his problems, I was amazed at what the physical therapy and other therapys did for him. They were amazing. So let’s keep hoping she stays strong and gets through this. And you stay strong ~ you and StelBel are in my thoughts.
she had what was described as a mini-stroke last week and I talked with her on the phone and she had better command of her thoughts and speech than just after and they
were planning on letting her go last Saturday……That was the time period that Susan and I both were able to talk with her—-when she said if she got a vote in it, she woulld
have preferred to stay another night (in spite of the bad food and tv choices) I said when they tell you it’s time to go , just scream NOOOOO and if they try to wheel you out of the room , grab onto the sides of the doorway —she laughed out loud at that and when she had to get off the phone she thanked me for making her laugh…
then later that night came the massive stroke
This is horrible about Stel.
I’m in shock, actually.
Nighthawks and I both talked to her in the two days after what we later discovered was her stroke, and while they’re always dangerous, it didn’t seem to be on this level.
But today I talked to her sister, who described it as a “massive stroke.”
Her initial improvement was before they discovered the blood clot, which is apparently doing much damage.
…
Hard to believe this could suddenly occur… it’s like a nightmare.
But yes, I’ll never lose hope that she’ll improve.
Back to living on her own in her own house?
That one is debatable…. miracles do happen but she shouldn’t live alone again.
.
Sploit?
From yesterday? ☺
That tail will start wagging as soon as she hears the car coming down the street.
Modesty tail 😉
..
Good to see they’re using an electric light. Much safer than candles when he’s wearing a puffy-sleeved costume.
And here I thought it was an extra long fuse.
Also a good idea when you have puffy sleeves.

Exactly what I thought of!
That hasn’t a ghost of a chance of working. The ropes are different lengths, they have different natural frequencies.
But we’re talking super natural here.
Or the (in)famous “Siemens Lufthaken” regarding where the ropes are supposed to be attached to….
“Air hook?”
Attached to thin air.
They both go up out of frame, so they might be infinitely long!
cute!
Yes! I guessed right!!!
I knew it was a member of the family, but was not sure which one.
My first correct guess.
Got the adult again this time….. in the future?
I got the adult and was actually really close on the child. I thought it was Bobby.
yay! i got my first one! yay!
Yeah! got the question right as well as the answer!
Yeah, got this one.

I’d never heard “Circle of Friends”, kind of intense for 6am. But a good message. Peanut Butter I’d heard a few times, cute song.

You’re wrong about panko. Or croutons. Completely different things.
Panko is made from specially made loaves, with a lot of air in them, and no egg or shortening.
They’re steamed, and/or slow baked until dry throughout, with not enough heat to form a crust, and then crushed into large crisp, airy flakes.
The flakes are larger than regular breadcrumbs and don’t stick together, so they make a shaggy, crunchy coating that you can recognize on the food.
They’re never pre-browned or baked, but very white, and turn golden when the coating is fried.

Are witch chickens only available at this time of year? 😎
I wished to be a real witch sometimes…

“Snow White” certainly was; those “dwarfs” being children forced into mine work and that young woman princess really was hiding.
Lady Gaga sounds like Barbara Streisand in this video. I think it’s the Brooklyn accent she’s using.
What news of Stel Bel?
no news is good news?
Maybe… :o(

Devastating news about our Stel Bel. I am so sad.
daleandkristen
It took the wind out of me. Hoping…hoping.
I am broken-hearted. One feels so helpless at times like this. Hoping against hope that she recovers her mind at least.
So sad. Prayers.
is there an update I missed, last I heard she was in the hospital on a respirator and in a coma, sure hope for the best for her soon
See above, below the featured poster.
Oh, that is so sad, all my prayers and hope she does get somewhat better
See the edited post from Nighthawks at the top.
I just read, so horrible, hope there is some relief for her and she can recover somewhat

unbelieveable!
Dreadful! My God!
Aha… I never got the message that there was actually a second stroke, so I thought the blood clot had somehow turned the first one more serious.
All I can say… again… is &#%¿!!!
